Premium Gentleman’s Box “The Cookout Edition” Spring 2020 Review
Included in our box was this booklet full of nice color photos that provides information on all of the brands and the products we received. This quarter’s theme is “The Cookout Edition” which is perfect for summertime and all of the barbecues to be had! They also included a temperature guide for meats and some hosting tips.
Fine Form Co. Hosting Board
How beautiful is this serving board? We don’t have anything like it and I thought it was such a great way to start this box off! This 100% dark Acacia wood board feels like a solid, quality board, and it has a nice little lip around the edge to help keep food on the tray. The wood is smooth and has just a bit of a shine to it and it will be a gorgeous accent piece at any cookout or party! It measures about 15.5 x 11 inches and it has a little bit of weight to it without being too heavy to carry around.
All Things Barbecue Utensil Set
It wouldn’t be a cookout set without some barbecue utensils! This set comes in a nice canvas roll-up case with slots for four different utensils. I love that it’s fabric meaning I can actually wash this if it happens to get some food on it! It sounds like this set may have been designed just for this box in collaboration with All Things Barbecue.
The stainless steel utensils included are a set of tongs, a fork, and a spatula with a nice slanted edge. The handles have a good weight to them and also feature a little metal loop so you can hang these on your grill if you have hooks or spots for them. It’s a nice set and while it seems like there may be a little rust spot or defect on our spatula, it’s really tiny and I don’t think it will have an effect on the functionality of it!
Bow Valley BBQ Apron
This is another barbecue essential and one that my husband doesn’t have. He and I both loved the style of this canvas and leather apron – it’s really unique and just a bit manly. It feels like a really classy apron and since my husband frequently grills and smokes meats, this will be a sophisticated way to ensure that his clothing stays clean underneath! It also says it’s easy to spot clean and it has an adjustable leather neck strap. The leather details are PU leather while the fabric is 60% polyester and 40% cotton. It had a pretty terrible smell when we first opened it up, most likely from the packaging, but that seems to have already dissipated some already. It looks like this actually comes from a barbecue shop that sells some delicious sounding sauces and rubs…kind of wondering why they didn’t include a sample! 😉
Here is the apron on my husband. It really is nice and kind of industrial looking. We both like it a lot!
Sous Shop Beer Cooler
Since barbecuing isn’t any fun without an ice cold drink in your hand, they included this coated stainless steel beer can cooler. It’s a great way to keep your beer safe while you cook since it adds a little weight to your can and can keep it upright when you set it down. It will keep your drink nice and cold for 6-8 hours (out of direct sunlight) while also keeping your hands from getting wet from the condensation.
The lid actually screws off and then you place your can inside and screw it back on so your can can’t fall out of it either. My husband is excited to use this one at the beach! It will be great in the sand since it’s so easy to clean off and it will hopefully help keep his drinks cool and upright!
Verdict: This season’s curation of the Premium Gentleman’s Box was perfect for summer! While there were a few items you might expect to find like the beer cooler and the barbecue utensil set, we felt that the apron and the wood board were both such unique, quality items. I think this box would make a really classy and fun Father’s Day gift for most guys. This box costs $100 (with free shipping) box and the value is supposed to be over $300. Since I don’t have any retail or listed values for these items, it’s really hard to determine whether the value is there and while I’m pretty confident that we came close to the cost of the box, I am not so sure we got close to that $300 mark. That being said, my husband still enjoyed the box and I think it would make a nice gift. But don’t forget to throw in some BBQ rub because that would definitely round out this great collection!
