Birchbox Review - May 2020

As always, this month's Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back. It also included a card that shows women at Birchbox choosing a member of the Female Founder Collective and why they admire her.

Baseblue AirSponge, mini sample size - Buy a full size for $6.75

I feel like an alien saying this but I've never really used a beauty sponge before. I mainly use my fingertips but have dabbled in brushes more than anything. I think I've tried one once or twice but wasn't really convinced it was for me. I can't say how this compares to other brands, but this itty bitty sample is very soft + bouncy. I was impressed with how well it applied the included BB cream, though. I wet it to make sure it didn't absorb too much product and used the pointed tip to get into the corners of my eyes. The round side was better for application to my cheeks and forehead. I have to say that it's piqued my interest and I'll be trying a large size in the future. The even finish this gave me was very nice.

COOLA Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Crème SPF 30, 0.24 oz - Estimated Value $6.72 (Buy a full-size 1.5 oz for $42.00)

I'm already a fan of COOLA products and am in need of sunscreen right now so this is a win. Although the tube is very small (as one would expect), I'm glad I get to try out this Sun Silk Crème before buying. It comes out of the tube as a white opaque cream but once it's spread onto my face it becomes completely transparent. What I like about this mineral sunscreen is that it doesn't feel heavy or greasy either. It stays a little tacky for a few minutes but then settles in with a nice powdery matte finish. There's also no fragrance at all and it's oil-free.

Juliet Has A Gun MMMM... Perfume, 5.5 mL - Estimated Retail Value $4.07 (Buy a full-size 100 mL for $135.00)

I've gotten some other fragrances from this brand in the past but "MMMM..." is new to me. A generous 5.5 mL size, this deluxe sample comes with a pump that makes trying this out mess-fee. MMMM... smells a lot like sugary baked goods with vanilla being at the forefront. In addition to the vanilla, there is also fruit and spice with notes of neroli, raspberry, geranium, patchouli, and sandalwood. I am on board with this perfume since it isn't too floral and hits woody, fruity, and vanilla all at once.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow, 0.24 oz - Estimated Value $4.35 (Buy a full-size 1.6 oz for $29.00)

I prefer to use very light coverage BB or CC creams versus full foundations, so this was nice to try. I'd say this BB cream from Marcelle has light coverage with a very dewy finish but dries down well. It doesn't feel heavy or wet and really evens out my skin tone. It makes my skin look sun-kissed and slightly more tan while covering redness. Very interested in trying this more!

Oribe Split End Seal, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $14.12 (Buy a full-size 1.7 oz for $48.00)

First of all- if you've tried Oribe products before, you know that they smell ridiculously nice. This cream aims to restore and protect strands of hair that start to look scraggly due to heat damage and other stressors. I used this on damp towel-dried hair although it can be used on dry hair as well. I think it really gives my hair a more polished look and my ends are looking great after a few uses. It didn't seem to help too much with the frizzies near my scalp, but I may have to apply it further up to be of more help since I concentrated more on my ends. Really lightweight though and I can see a difference in my hair after using.

Arrow Nourishing Lip Oil in Color Enhancing Pink, 0.10 oz - Estimated Value $6.67 (Buy a full-size 0.24 oz for $16.00)

Your girl loves a new lip product and this neon green tube is just fun to look at. Arrow is a Birchbox brand and seems to be expanding their line slowly. This lip oil comes in a color-enhancing pink and will subtly change based on the pH of your skin, just like their balm. The oil feels really nice on and makes my lips look ridiculously shiny in a good way and somehow even plumper although that isn't a benefit listed. I think it's just the shine making my pout POP. The pink color is also super nice. My only gripe is that there's a slight plastic smell from the tube itself when I squeeze the product out.

Here are swatches of the BB cream and tinted lip oil.

Verdict: I quite enjoyed this Birchbox! Honestly, I really loved everything that came in the box and appreciate the range of beauty provided. A nice size fragrance, lip oil, sunscreen, beauty sponge, hair product, and BB cream all in one month is a fantastic way to sample a lot. I also really like the brands they featured. The size samples included have an estimated total value of $35.93 without including the small beauty sponge. I think that's quite nice for this $15 box with the brands I received.

To Wrap Up:

Joy-Not the Other One

I received the lip oil as well and I LOVE it! I actually have the full size of it shipping with my Birchbox this month! I like the tiny amount of color and that it is not sticky and it seems to sink in well to me. This is the first time I have ever purchased a full size Arrow brand but I really loved this.
