Birchbox Review 'Katia's Picks' - June 2020

As always, this month's Birchbox came with an info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

Benefit Cosmetics Chachatint Lip & Cheek Stain, 0.07 fl oz - Estimated Value $6.30 (Buy a full-size 0.2 oz for $18.00)

Benefit Benetint was one of my first beauty holy grail finds and I still love it! That was back when it was the only tint option offered by the brand. Now there are three different shades, including this peachy-mango hue. This has more of a cream feel than the truly liquid and transparent original, but it still very pretty on. It gives a barely-there warmth to lips and a cute peachy pink to cheeks. The doe-foot applicator makes application a cinch!

Certainly on the peach side of things, but pretty and perfect for summer!

Love of Color One & Done Shadow Stick in 'Champagne Problems', 0.05 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $10.00

LOC is a Birchbox brand that has some really great eyeshadow sticks! Included in my box was the 'Champagne Problems' shade which is a taupe-leaning metallic champagne color. It looks very pretty and glam on lids but also easily doubles as a highlighter if you blend it out softly. The cream formula creases a little over time on my lids (most do) but the staying power is pretty good.

Lots of metallic shine here.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, 1 oz - Estimated Value $5.65 (Buy a full-size 8.5 oz for $48.00)

I have sampled this before and find it lives somewhere between dry shampoo and hairspray for my hair. It gives instant volume and texture, and helps me skip an extra day between shampooing! Like all of the Oribe products, it smells great, more like a perfume than a hair product. This is a great size to stash in your purse for a little va-va-voom on the go.

BYROE Rice Cleansing Sorbet, 0.22 fl oz - Estimated Value $5.21 (Buy a full-size 3.04 fl oz for $72.00)

Cleansing balms are already a part of my routine, so trying out a new one is always welcome. This sample feels super luxe too, inside the heavy frosted glass with the matte white cap. The formula itself has a soft sweet scent and it lathers up white when mixed with water. Inside is rice bran oil and wheat germ oil, both of which are exceptionally nourishing. I prefer to apply balms directly to a dry face and rub in a circle, then wash away with warm water. This is a very gentle and effective balm, but for the price, there are others out there that will work as well and give less sticker shock!

Alterna My Hair My Canvas New Beginnings Exfoliating Cleanser, 0.85 fl oz - Retail Value $3.81 (Buy a full-size 6.7 fl oz for $30.00)

Finally, our last item is a really delightful exfoliator for hair or body. It has tiny scrubber beads that took a little extra work to get out of my long hair, but felt so nice on my scalp as I rubbed in circles. It left my hair smelling so nice and looking glossy and bright, with a little extra bounce after air drying.

Verdict: This Birchbox has an estimated value of around $30.97 which is a little more than double the cost of the box. I still think there could be more value here though, personally. Assortment wise, I liked everything here this month. I think the tint and the hair exfoliators would be my top picks, but they would be closely followed bu the eyeshadow stick! I liked the items and brands this month, but just need to see more value to be really impressed!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I absolutely love the BYROE cleanser! I’d love recommendations on any that are similar but cost less if anyone knows of any? I’m fairly new to sub boxes so I’ve not tried a lot. But it feels so soft & luxurious, smells pleasing & works really well at removing makeup. I’m going to be sad when this little jar is empty.

While I thought this was a great box, I chose the Amika Shine Mask instead as my sample. I wanted others to experience the Oribe Texturizing Spray (one of my favorites). I was lucky and got the tint, cleansing balm, and alterna exfoliating cleanser in my box. 🙂 🙂 Your review has made me even more excited to give them a try.

I feel like that shadow stick always shows up in boxes when I read reviews, and in such similar colors!

All the colors of those shadow sticks seem similar to me. I prefer a little more color, but this might be nice for the Zoom meetings – just enough to brighten up my eyes.
