Vine Oh! “Oh! Happy Day!” Spring 2020 Review

There is a card for each item, as well as an overview card with total box value enclosed in the Oh! envelope.

Now onto the items. Let's start with some wine!

The wines included in the box are custom made for Vine Oh! so if you like a bottle and want more, you can usually find them for purchase on the Vine Oh! wine shop. You have the option of either two sweets, two whites, two reds, or a mix. I selected the “mix” and received a red and a rosé. Yum!

Nightvine California Merlot – Retail Value $24.00

Night Vine, perfect for the nights that require relfection and rejuvination.

Night Vine Merlot has aromas of dried figs, black currants and cinnamon, with flavors of anise and licorice, blackberry jam, and notes of clove and caraway.

I am not someone who will generally reach for a merlot, but I used to say the same thing about cabs, which I am now obsessed with. Though this is likely still not my favorite wine, I did drink and enjoy the whole bottle! Those jammy notes are very apparent but balanced by a spicy earthiness that makes this a great choice for heavier dinners with red meat.

2017 New Crush California Rosé – Listed Value $24.00

New Crush Rosé is a delicious wine with aromas of fresh strawberries, watermelon, pomegranate, and citrus. On the palate, the barries give an upfront juiciness. A crisp, fresh finish makes it a great wine for warm weather days.

Rosé? Of course, I love rosé. Any kind, anytime. I stashed this one in the fridge before enjoying, and I highly recommend this! It was totally fruity but rather dry, a combination I tend to enjoy.

Now, onto the lifestyle items!

Jules Smith Pave Ball Necklace – Listed Value $55.00

This necklace is so much prettier in person, and it is much heavier than it looks, which I enjoy. It is such a versatile piece because you can wear it solo or with other delicate favorites and the gold color is soft, meaning it mixes well with other metals. While I am not generally a huge crystal fan, I can't help but be charmed by this little speckled orb and I have worn this a few times since I opened the box, even though I have been staying home and it was purely for Zoom meetings and my own enjoyment!

Dainty and cute!

Julep Hydrating Lip Gloss Duo - Listed Value $38.00

I couldn't find these exact shades for sale online, which is a bummer because I really like the formula of these glosses! There are two shades here, Flirt, a cool purple-leaning pink, and Muse, a slightly shimmery light pink. Both give a sheer layer of color that is perfect for a natural look and are very hydrating without being sticky.

Top: Muse, Bottom: Flirt

Tickled Pink Makeup Bag – Listed Value $15.00

Is it weird that this might be my favorite item in the box (aside from the wine, of course)? There is something about a hand-drawn polka dot that I just really love. And the red liner? Love at first sight. I have plenty of makeup bags so I think I might use this for stashing my smaller tubes of watercolor and gouache paints. It is roomy enough to hold my entire collection!

Capabunga Wine Cap – Buy a 2-pack for $7.95

This is the perfect sort of addition to a wine-themed box and I will use it all the time! Made of sturdy silicone and flexible enough to fit most of my bottles, this will be a lifesaver for storing wine in the fridge, and because I can remove the cork those wine bottles might actually fit in the fridge door now!

Hammonds Sweet Cheesy Popcorn, 5 oz – Retail Value $4.95

Finally, our last item is one of my favorite treats: caramel and cheese popcorn! A combination of salty and sweet is my favorite sort of indulgence, and this popcorn was so yummy! I actually enjoyed it with some of the rosé that also arrived in the box and it made for Sunday afternoon snacking on a whole new level.

The Verdict: This Vine Oh! spring box was a really fun one! I am generally always going to be thrilled with bottles of wine but the addition of some great lifestyle items made it even better. I think the makeup bag (AKA my paint tube bag) is my favorite item, but I also really loved the lip gloss and the necklace. The wine cap is genius and totally useful, and the popcorn is already long gone. All in all, a total self-indulgent win in my book!

To Wrap Up:

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

It seems to me that they need to have incentives for current subscribers to stay subscribed. I know it’s a numbers game…but at the end of the day, people are loyal to great product and service. New subscriber incentives are wonderful; but shouldn’t there be a special 2 year annual, 5 year annual exclusive promotion? It’s getting to the point…for me…that I need to unsubscribe to get perks. That is backwards!

I’ve been receiving this box for a little over a year now and it kind of irks me that new subscribers will get three bottles of wine for the same price that I’m getting two. If I cancel, would I be able to resubscribe right away and get the third bottle from now on?

I was wondering that as well. My first box I got a bonus bottle but not this one.

Ha Ha Megan. I just opened my wine and sat down to read MSA. What do you know the VineOh review! I ordered all whites this time and got that Rose and was saving for a really warm day. This weekend is the time. I like dry so it sounds pretty good.
I was doubtful about the lip gloss but it is really nice and smooth and no stickiness. I love the Flirt shade. I think the necklace has grown on me too. I should just wear it around the house as I try new lip colors on. I received a green leaf type bag which is nice but I do like polka dots.
Thanks.

I love the glosses more and more as I wear them. They feel natural enough to wear with a bare face without feeling silly. Oooh the green leaves looked so cute in the info cards! Enjoy your wine! <3

Thanks for the heads up Debra! I will adjust the review to mention the sell out of this box!

The current box is called New “Oh! Happy Day Now!” Instead, it should be called “Editor’s Choice” or “Mystery Box” to avoid mistaken identification (the non-wine items will all be different than the ones noted in this review).

Debra,
I saw they sold out of this box and had another one listed. Must be what you got. I hope you enjoy.
