Spiritú Spring 2020 Review
The box included a fold-open booklet with all of our included items, retail values, and more info on the brands.
This small card placed at the top of the box highlights its retail value, along with more info on this month's box artist: Isabela Humphrey. How pretty is this illustration?
Let's peek at what's inside!
Sanara Bamboo Fiber & Mango Seed Body Polish, 4 oz – Retail Value $39.00
I tend to avoid some scrubs because they feel too scratchy on my legs, which are super sensitive. I actually really love this one because the exfoliation is much more gentle and the super nourishing butters from mango seed and capuachu leave behind a really soft oil feeling that absorbs into my skin like lotion after I get out of the shower and rub my legs down. This scrub also has a wonderfully natural scent that is soft and comforting.
Kenia Beauty Lippy Liner in #WOW and Sharpener – Listed Value $23.99
I so wanted to love this lip pencil! The color is a gorgeous red that is all drama and the matte finish seems to be on the waxy side, meaning it was flat but didn't feel dry. After 5 minutes it became so sticky on my lips I couldn't stand it, and I had to add some lip balm to cut through that texture. This did help but I was kind of sad this wasn't a better formula for my lips. I do appreciate that a sharpener was also included, especially as I am constantly losing them!
What a good red.
Handwoven Headband from Equador – Listed Value $15.00
More time at home means more time for masks, as far as I am concerned. I have these wild little side tufts of hair that are always sticking to masks, but no more with the help of this headband. Because the back panel is elasticized, it fit my big noggin really well without making me feel like my head is being squeezed. I also like the calming shades of blue.
Ready to mask! As soon as I get that red lip crayon off...
Aid Through Trade Roll-On Beaded Bracelet – Retail Value $15.00
I have a handful of these beaded bracelets and I really like them because they look very cute layered. In addition to being adorable, they are crafted in Nepal and are fair trade. This bracelet is a blend of soft sky blue beads with subtle accents in periwinkle. Very pretty!
The Bag PR Cafe Latte Mask, 0.8 oz – Retail Value $10.00
This is a dry mask that you can mix with any liquid of your choice. I usually go with water, but I decided to try it with some almond milk, for a creamier mask experience! This powder is a blend of coffee, cocoa powder, kaolin clay, and oat powder. Because I have drier skin, I didn't leave this on for super long. It didn't completely dry down after 5 minutes, but my face was feeling ready, so I rinsed with warm water. My skin looked pretty happy and calm, but also brighter.
Spiritú Tote - Listed Value $20.00
I wasn't super excited about this tote when I first saw the spoilers for this quarter, but it is so much nicer than I expected. It is heavy-duty enough to haul a lot more than your average canvas tote and even has a zipper to make sure everything stays safely inside. I liked the illustration on the outside of our box so much that I am pleased to see I can keep it around for the spring and summer in the form of this cute accessory.
PEZ Powder, 4 oz – Listed Value $4.99
This might be silly, but this is my favorite item in the box. When I was in college I shared an apartment with two awesome exchange students from Mexico, and they had a super similar seasoning that I was obsessed with! They also had chili hot chocolate which is another game-changer. This is a blend of (very mild) chili and lime, and I like it on eggs, avocado toast, tacos, EVERYTHING. Since I adore chili combined with sweet treats (this is hands down my favorite candy EVER) I also love this around the rim of a mango margarita. Kind of bummed it looks like the PEZ website is under construction, but I will be checking back to buy more.
Verdict: This was a pretty fun box, though I feel like it might have been missing one final item. Some of the items were hit or miss (the lipstick comes to mind) but overall I liked the majority of this box very much. My fave items would be the beaded bracelet, the scrub, and of course that PEZ powder! I am excited to see the spoilers for the summer box when they launch.
