Pet Treater Cat Pack May 2020 Review

I used to find the dog version of Pet Treater a little bit random but the cat version (maybe because it is smaller) is often a little more focused:

There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of inserts including a humorous sticker (except my sticker was missing this month, as it has been for several months -- it's possible they discontinued the stickers).

There was also some advertising material.

Petlinks Organic Catnip (1.75 oz) - Buy 4 oz for $14.99

Catnip is always useful to receive. My cats like to inappropriately scratch the carpet but I've been pretty successful at redirecting them by strategically placing cardboard scratch pads around the upstairs. But those need to be replenished every now and then and this is a good brand, which I know because I've bought it before. The package is resealable, which is handy.

Kerchief

I guess we will get kerchiefs every month now. I'm not super thrilled with these as kerchiefs strike me as more of a dog thing, but at least it (1) is appropriately sized for a cat and (2) has finished edges so it won't start fraying. You can see some kitties modeling this below.

Brandless Cat Toy (Bird)

This is the second month in a row we've gotten a Brandless toy, although I guess the folks at Pet Treater got a good deal on them as closeouts since Brandless folded awhile back. This has several different textures and a feather, though, so my kitties liked it well enough. I'd call this medium-sized, as far as cat toys go.

Loving Pets It's Purely Natural Buffalo (2 oz) - Retail Value $3.99

This item was not a hit. And we keep getting this exact same thing, every couple of months. The problem is that these are really, really tough pieces of dried meat, and further, they are stuck together into big chunks, so even cats that kind of want to eat it, really can't. I have broken off pieces before and given them to Sneaky, and she's eaten them and then thrown them up (along with some of her wet food for the next 2-3 meals), so I can't really even give these away.

Multipet Yarn Mouse - Retail Value $1.19

This is a good item, however. Madison really likes the yarn toys and this is small and a good size for tossing around, plus it has a feather. It looks like these come in lots of different colors and patterns. This one may require supervision as I'm not yet sure how easy these are to destroy and Madison gets pretty violent with them.

Verdict: I was unable to calculate a total value for the May Pet Treater Cat Pack since I had trouble finding some of the items online. There were five items so each has an average value of about $3. As usual, there were a few closeouts and discount items and things that were hard to find online, the kerchief was actually cat-sized, which was nice for a change, and we will always be able to use the catnip. I would suggest they stop sending the buffalo treats, though, because they show up all the time, and even the cats in my home who want to eat them, can't.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first pack will ship immediately filled with the most popular fan favorites. Also, there may be some variation among boxes sent during the same month.

Value Breakdown: At $15 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately $2.50 per item.
