CatLadyBox May 2020 Review

CatLadyBox is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for May:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box. This month has a "cat mom" theme.

There was also a card with a spoiler for next month's theme.

Cat Mom Tote - Listed Value $18.99

I like to use totes like this for in-progress cross-stitch projects as they're about the right size to hold fabric in a hoop plus instructions, thread, scissors, and whatever else I need. And they can easily be put away to keep the projects away from cats, who show an undue interest in anything involving bits of yarn or thread (which happens to be most of my hobbies).  This seems pretty sturdy so I could probably also use it to shuttle files or my laptop back and forth to the office, once I am going back to the office, which doesn't look to be anytime soon. But still. Most of my other totes are currently occupied so it is nice to have a backup.

Cat's Meow Raglan Tee - Listed Value $19.99

I wore this for a full 24 hours and I can tell you it is comfortable for sleeping, lounging around the house, and exercising. No, you don't get to see a picture, I have been too lazy to dye my hair and my roots look awful. But this is a very comfortable shirt for being at home and will also be good for weekend errands one of these days.

Brilliant Cat Pendant - Listed Value $27.99

I really like this. It is sparkly. All the stones are in place. And I think the use of one of the ears as a way to attach the chain is clever. I don't remember if metal tone was selectable this month. (I don't have a strong silvertone/goldtone preference so I usually just let them surprise me.) One thing that is nice is that even though the cat head part is rather large, because it was open, it doesn't seem too big or weighty, and it still manages to be delicate.

Cinnamon Roll Catnip Toy - Listed Value $6.99

This is a catnip plush. You can take the paper off and let it unroll, or leave it rolled up. I left it rolled up as my cats tend to prefer more compact toys, and they seemed interested in me rolling it across the floor as well. This is very soft.

Tulip Catnip Toy - Listed Value $4.99

Here is the other toy this month, it is made from felt so it has a different texture from the cinnamon roll, but it is also soft. My cats are really interested in things with different textures so I was happy the toys were rather different from one another this month. My boys, especially, liked rubbing their faces on this.

Here are some kitty photos:

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $78.95 for the May 2020 (Crazy) CatLadyBox. I did have to take all the values from the information card, but that's what the items will sell for once they are up in the CatLadyBox shop (they were not yet there as of the writing of this review). I find all of the human items fun and/or useful and I liked that the two toys were somewhat different from one another, as that is more interesting for my cats. I would say this was a pretty typical month in terms of the item types.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with June’s box, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s box left over and asked if I’d like one of those. So it may be worth inquiring.

I loooooved this box. I call one of my cats “my little cinnamon roll” because she’s a brown tabby and sleeps curled up on my lap, so the toy is PURRFECT! I’m a sucker for a tote/bag, and I was happy they let us choose our color this month (I chose and received the teal one, as well). The shirt is so soft as ALWAYS and so cute (as ALWAYS). I am very pleased with the necklace as well. It could easily be dressed up or down. I can’t wait for next month; I love anything spa/self-care.

Can you post a picture wearing the necklace to get an idea of the size? No face needed haha.

I can’t take pictures of myself at the moment. Next time I will try to take a picture on a necklace model as well as measuring and maybe also a size reference like if I can actually find a quarter in the house or something.

This was my teen daughter’s first cat lady box. She loved it! She picked the deep green tote. It is really nice and sturdy. She also loved the necklace and wears the shirt to bed. Our four cats loved the toys too. She is looking forward to the Pampurr box.

OMG your kitties are precious!!! Especially the longhair black one – two of my favorite cat traits, long hair and solid black!

This sub is always interesting, just not in budget for me at the moment!

Ragan, can you estimate the length of the chain on this sweet pendant? I really want it, but the length needs to be right or I look awful. Thank you!

Dea, I have a short neck/round face and need chains to be longer, usually, in order to be flattering … I did put a little extender of my own on this necklace to get it to be the length I want. Since my hair is long enough to cover the back of my neck, the extender isn’t noticeable. The necklace is really cute and different than anything they’ve sent before. I’m glad their jewelry is always a mix of styles to suit different preferences. I am not picky about jewelry so I usually love everything!

But anyway, Ragan is right, the chain would be easy to replace, especially because it just loops through the cat ear and isn’t complicated to switch out.

It’s on the shorter side, maybe like 16 inches plus the extender which is about 2 inches (sorry, I don’t have it in front of me right now). It works for me but I am really small-framed. I will try to remember to measure next time and also photograph necklaces on my necklace model. (Am not set up to take pictures of myself.)

Edit: The chain’s not the expensive part. You could easily replace that with a longer one.

OK, thank you! Yes, I could replace the chain. Looking forward to them posting this month’s items in the shop.

I was disappointed in April’s box. The hat was so cheap and those silicone cup things were useless. May is much better. Love your reviews of it, always.

I did use the cups one day for cocktails on my patio, but last night realized they were the perfect size (and unbreakable!) to keep in the bathroom for brushing my teeth, taking meds, etc. I hope you can find a use for them! I do think CLB sends a lot of cups. I appreciate that they’re always different, but maybe next survey I’ll suggest that they chill out on the drinkware for a while.
