BomiBox K-Beauty Subscription March 2020 Review

BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card describes all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.

Isntree Clear Skin 8% AHA Essence, 3.38 oz - Retail Value $15

This essence has more of a gel-serum texture than essence, so I would use it in the serum step. This is an exfoliant that features 8% AHAs in the form of lactic and glycolic acids, and as a whole, I really like the ingredients list- along with the actives it also has mulberry bark extract, ginkgo biloba, and a derivative of Centella Asiatica in the form of asiaticoside. The overall experience is an effective exfoliant that is gentle enough for daily use on normal to dry skin.

Yuja Niacin Mineral 100 Brightening Suncream, 0.84 oz - Retail Value $8.90

I was excited to try out this sunscreen, but it ended up being a miss for me. The formula took some elbow grease to truly rub in, and I was still left with a slight white cast. I wore this before a morning hike, but it didn’t hold up to the mild sweating.

Bueno Pure Moonlight Rose Floral Cleanser (80 mL) – Estimated Value $13.20 (Buy 150 mL for $24.75)

I really liked this cleanser- though it has rose petals obviously in the formula, it didn’t have a strong rose scent. This was a non-drying cleanser that also removed light makeup, and it rinsed away clean without leaving a residue.

Pyunkang Yul Quick Moisturizing Professional Hand Lotion, 50 ml - Retail Value $9.90

My hands, like everyone else’s right now, are going through a tough time- so bring on the hand creams. This didn’t have a discernible scent to me, and it was a very thick and nourishing cream that left my hands happy. Once fully absorbed, my hands didn’t feel greasy either.

Laneige Water Bank Hydro Kit - Retail Value $6.90 (currently unavailable)

I love Laneige, so this kit was a welcome addition to the box. The set features the Water Bank Hydro Essence, Water Bank Eye Gel, and Water Bank Hydro Cream. I liked each sample enough to hope that there are full sizes in my future- the eye gel absorbed into my skin quickly while still being nourishing, the essence was a tall drink of water for my dry skin, and the moisturizer left my skin hydrated without feeling heavy. Also, I linked to a trusted K-Beauty website where the retail value for this kit was $6.90 while I was writing this review, though the item is no longer available at the time of publication.

Neogen Real Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam, 0.67 oz – Estimated Value $1.50 (Buy the 6.76 oz version for $15)

I knew by the words “cica” and “micellar” that this cleanser would be gentle, and I was right! This was a great second cleanse, and I think anyone with dry, sensitive skin would enjoy this.

Nature Republic Real Comforting Sheet Mask, Hyaluronic Acid - Retail Value $1.90

I’ve tried these sheet masks before, but not the hyaluronic version. It was no surprise to me that I loved it, as it fit my face well and was saturated enough with serum that I wore this mask for 45 minutes while lounging on the couch. You certainly don’t need to wear this mask that long for happy skin, but I enjoy the luxury of the routine.

Nature Republic Real Nature Mask Sheet, Chamomile – Retail Value $1.90

These are solid sheet masks- they’re definitely some of the most affordable I’ve tried, and they perform better than some more expensive masks. I don’t love the alcohol on the ingredients list, but that didn’t keep the mask from feeling like a slippery hug for my cheeks.

SNP Animal Panda Whitening Mask – Retail Value $5

This mask is too cute- it literally has a panda printed on it, and while I don’t think I would be able to pass as one of the cuddly guys at the zoo, the novelty made me happy- and so did the coconut water and niacinamide at the top of the ingredients list.

The Verdict: This is one of my favorite K-beauty boxes because each time it arrives I feel like I was sent a box straight from the K-beauty websites I use when I need to stock up. This wasn’t my all-time favorite BomiBox, but overall I thought it was another good curation. While I wasn’t a fan of the sunscreen, I enjoyed the rest of the products. Both cleansers were especially winners in my book, but I don’t know if we needed two in one box. Value-wise, the value of everything in this box added up to $64.20.

To Wrap Up:

Can I get this box if I sign up today? Previous boxes are sometimes available in the BomiBox shop here for $35.99 + shipping. Order by the 15th to receive the current month's box. If you order today, your first regular box will be the May box, but beware of the late shipping.
