KitNipBox April 2020 Review

KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, there are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month it was a road trip theme:

The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online.

AFP License Mat - Listed Value $15

This is a crinkly mat with a different texture on each side. Because this is a higher-value item, there were only six items in this month's box instead of seven. I'm OK with that because I kind of like it when subscription boxes stray from the formula a little in order to bring you items you might not otherwise see. The information card suggests putting this in the bottom of a pet carrier, which I think is a good idea -- I always like to have something soft in there for trips to the vet. (Also, I got Sneaky to wrestle with this although the pictures weren't great.)

Playful Pet Key Dangler - Listed Value $7

The dangly part on here includes some felt keys that are rather large, but Sneaky liked them pretty well when I dragged it along the floor for her. She's not much for jumping these days (she's at least 12 years old now) so I haven't hung them up in a doorway yet but you can do that if you want -- the hanger should fit most doors that have standard molding around the edges.

Playful Pet Travel Mug - Listed Value $6

This is more of a Monkey item. It has a fuzzy texture and is a good size for wrestling or tossing around. Monkey sure liked rubbing his chin on it, which is his way of showing interest these days.

Safemade All Nip Air Freshener - Listed Value $5

This is also a Monkey item. It has only catnip inside, no stuffing, and a somewhat rough, canvas texture. Monkey licked it. A lot. Until it was wet. That is another way he shows interest in toys. (This doesn't really have a pine fragrance.)

Leap All Nip Tire - Listed Value $5

Here is another all catnip item, where each side feels a little different. Madison kind of liked this, but the back side kept showing in the pictures, so you couldn't even see it against his fur.

PureBites Freeze-Dried Ocean Whitefish (0.39 oz) - Retail Value $5.90

This is a single-ingredient treat and it smells (as it should, since it's fish). All three cats expressed interest but only Sneaky actually ate it. That is not so surprising, and anyway, Sneaky gets the most treats (we give them to her before and after she gets her asthma inhaler), so she can finish these off.

Gratuitous cat photos:

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $43.90 for the April KitNipBox although I did have to use a lot of information card values. I thought the road trip theme was fun and the items fit it surprisingly well. I liked the inclusion of the mat, as that's not something you'll usually see in this box. The toys had different textures, sizes, and shapes, which appealed to different cats (it helps with cat subscription boxes to have several cats because then there is something for everyone) and Sneaky thought the treats were great.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first KitNipBox will ship right after your payment processes, so you should still be able to get April's box if you sign up now.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 including free shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of about $5.

Once again the box did nothing but make these babies happy!
I went from room to room allowing the eldest kitty to pick her favorite first – then to the next two rooms that have foster kitties (while the triplets were trying to break the doors down) – then back downstairs to the triplets to watch them fight for the last remaining toys and of course – the BOX provides much joy too!

I have found myself anxiously awaiting the boxes as well during the current trying times. Thank you for continuing to bring our household joy!! Please stay safe and healthy!

The picture with the “driver’s license” literally is the best thing I’ve seen all day. And I’ve read the entire internet twice today lol. Thank you!
