Keto Krate April 2020 Review

I have been on and off the keto diet for about 3 years under a recommendation by my physician, and have had great success! Currently, I have been "living the lifestyle" for about 3 1/2 months and I have lost about 15 pounds, although I have had a bit of a slide off of the wagon since being stuck at home. I'm hoping these snacks will help me find my way again! Let's see what this month has to offer!

How cute is this Easter bunny?! With Easter right around the corner, I am loving the happy pastels and tips on how to get through Easter on the keto diet. Sadly, this year we won't be celebrating Easter the way we usually do because of the current situation, but I will still struggle resisting the Easter basket candy, so I will take those tips to heart! Besides the helpful tips, this pamphlet also includes a link to this month's product info (krate.club), tips on how to manage your subscription, a keto success story, and a delicious looking recipe for fluffy strawberry cream.

Dang Tropical Mango Coconut Chips - Listed Value $4.50, Retail Value $3.77

Fat 17g | Net Carbs 5g | Taste Score: 10/10

I am all about the coconut, and while I have had coconut chips in the past, I have never had tropical mango flavored ones. At first, I was a little worried to have received such a large bag of these sliced up pieces of coconut meat because I am just not that into mango flavored anything, but after trying them I was jumping for joy! These yummy chips are packed with a tart mango taste which gives them the yummiest flavor when sweetened with stevia and monk fruit. I can happily say I did not notice any funny after tastes, and they were so addicting, I kept going back for more! I also have to mention, my 7 year old son, who does not follow a keto diet LOVED these! I consider that a win!

Jimmy Bars Keto Macadamia Bar - Listed Value $2.92 (Buy a box of 12 for $34.99)

Fat 16g | Net Carbs 4g | Taste Score: 10/10

I am so into this bar! I love that this little piece of heaven is packed with macadamia nuts, almonds, and peanuts. It has the most savory flavor sweetened by an occasional chocolate chip for the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I am definitely going to be picking up some of these for my hiking pack!

Revol Snax Matcha Latte Bites - Listed Value $7.99 (Buy 4 packs for $25.95)

Fat 12g | Net Carbs 1g | Taste Score: 9/10

How fancy do these little bites look? While the green matcha coloring might be off-putting to some, I found these little snacks to be quite handsome and tasty. The main ingredients are organic coconut, almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, allulose, coconut oil, organic erythritol, green tea matcha powder, vanilla, sea salt, and monk fruit extract. The creamy vanilla macadamia-hazelnut butter filling was the perfect accent to the chewy cake. I am happy to have these on hand as a late night snack!

Legendary Foods Pizza Almonds - Listed Value $3.00 (Buy a pack of 12 for $27.99)

Fat 18g | Net Carbs 3g | Taste Score: 10/10

I love pizza and I love almost every type of nut, so I couldn't wait to give this combination a shot. How did it taste? Delicious! These crunchy almonds were packed with a very generous amount of garlic, onion, tomato, cheddar, and paprika seasoning. It truly tasted like pizza! I need more of these in my life because my husband and kids took over the bag!

Moon Cheese Cheddar Believe It - Listed Value $2.00 (Buy a 10 oz package for $13.99)

Fat 14g | Net Carbs 1g | Taste Score: 7/10

This extremely crunchy Moon Cheese packs a cheddar flavored punch! In case you were wondering, one package has 11 grams of protein, 25% daily value of calcium, and is gluten-free. These little curds are quite sharp and salty and taste pretty good with a Michelob Ultra, but might be a little overpowering without something to balance the flavor out.

Sweetwood Smokehouse Original Fatty Smoked Meat Stick - Retail Value $2.00 (Buy a box of 10 for $20.00)

Fat 8g | Net Carbs 1g | Taste Score: 10/10

Sweetwood Smokehouse is an American-made brand that uses pork raised without antibiotics and grass-fed beef. I found this meat stick to be smoky, salty, chewy, and delicious! I also found it quite impressive that in that small stick 7 grams of protein were packed into it! My only complaint is how small the stick was...while I am the only one following the keto diet, my husband and kids couldn't resist this tasty treat!

Crispy Cuts Parmesan Peppercorn Pork Rinds - Listed Value $2.99, Retail Value $2.95

Fat 6g | Net Carbs 1g | Taste Score: 5/10

I used to be scared of pork rinds, but after discovering barbecue flavored ones, I am all in. That being said, I was excited to try this parmesan and peppercorn variety! I love parmesan, so it had to be a hit right? Well, not for me. I don't know if it was the smell of the parmesan with the pork rinds or what, but I just didn't care for these. My husband gave them a shot, and he closed the bag right up because he didn't care for them either. While I didn't care for them by themselves, I think I will crush them up and add them to a cauliflower bake for a little extra crunch!

Sour Cream and Onion Quevos - Listed Value $3.00 (Buy a 6 pack for $17.99)

Fat 8g | Net Carbs 3g | Taste Score: 11/10

Sour cream and onion is one of my favorite flavorings on any type of chip or cracker, so I had high hopes for these, and they delivered! I have never had a chip that was made out of egg whites before, but they are my new favorite! Everything about these chips was on point - the crispness, the flavor, and the texture. I also see this company makes them in dill pickle and rancheros- and you can buy a variety pack! Count me in!!

Birthday Cake Stoka Nutrition - Listed Value $2.99 (Buy a box of 12 for $34.99)

Fat 22g | Net Carbs 4g | Taste Score: 6/10

Birthday cake in a bar?! Sign me up! This Stoka Bar is made in the USA and is keto, paleo, vegan, gluten-free, and diabetic friendly. When I opened the bar, I was greeted with a bit of a mess as the bar had crumbled in the package. It did, however, smell like a birthday cake! While the main ingredient is almonds, and I could clearly taste them, I was more impacted by the sweetness of this bar, to where it was almost too sweet. There was a bit of an aftertaste with this bar, but found that I actually enjoyed it watered down compared to the initial bite. The sugar free sprinkles were sure a fun addition as well!

Pineapple Mango Nush Cake - Listed Value $3.00 (Buy a package of 6 for $17.94)

Fat 13g | Net Carbs 4g | Taste Score: 4/10

To get the full effect of this bar, I decided to eat it while sitting on our patio enjoying the warm spring sunshine, as the packaging definitely gives off a beachy vibe. While I loved the packaging and taste description, I just didn't love this bar. The texture was nice and chewy making the cake base lovely, but the pineapple mango flavoring fell flat for me. If you were to add the coconut chips and a little bit of the Stoka bar sweetness, I think I would have enjoyed this more, but I was happy to give it a shot!

High Key Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies - Listed Value $4.67 (Buy a 6 pack for $21.38)

Fat 13g | Net Carbs 2g | Taste Score: 10/10

The last couple of treats were a bit of a bust, so how did the last sweet treat fare? SOOOOO GOOD!!! Seriously, these mini chocolate chip cookies are delicious. These are with almond flour and natural sweeteners, and my son, who has a major sweet tooth, compared these to tasting just like a Chips Ahoy cookie. How crazy is that?! And it's true!!! The texture, the taste, and the amount of chocolate chips is perfect. Plus, the entire bag is 2 servings with only 4 net carbs for the ENTIRE bag. I did not over indulge because these little babies are pricey, but I am so happy to have these in the house for snack time, and plan on hiding them from everyone else!

The Verdict: I am such a fan of the Keto Krate box! Sticking to the keto diet can be hard, but receiving this box each month definitely helps me discover new products and keeps the lifestyle exciting and easier to stick to! Prior to receiving this box, I had only heard of a couple of these brands, so this is a really eye-opening experience for me. I also love the fact that I am able to try multiple different snacks in smaller sizes to see if I actually like them enough to buy a large package of them. The curation is awesome, and I really enjoy the variety of sweet and savory snacks. While I didn't love everything in the box (that would be a miracle) I am happy to give everything a chance, and discover new favorites - I'm talking about you chocolate chip cookies!!! I can't wait to see what I discover next month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Unfortunately, no. If you subscribe today, your first box will be the May box.

Value Breakdown: The box costs $39.99 + free shipping which means that each of the 11 items in the box has an average cost of $3.63. I also want to share that on their website, it states the retail value of this month's products is $39.06, but you would pay $57.91 in shipping costs for each product, plus you would have to spend $41.17 to get the discount code savings of minimum orders for each product, which would bring your total value to $138.14, so I think $39.99 is a pretty good price to test out different snacks and find new faves!

FYI: Raw Generation are offering vegetable and fruit boxes. The price is $79.99 + Free shipping. The boxes are 25 lb each. I just ordered the vegetable box, it will be a lifesaver for me as I cannot get to the grocery store and online store deliveries are impossible to get.

Those Quevos were delicious! But be sure, if you order don’t make the same mistake I did. They have Keto flavors (Dill, Sour Cream and Onion and Quevos Rancheros) and Non Keto flavors (Sea Salt, BBQ, Cheddar). I didn’t realize and ordered the non Keto flavors (which are also delicious, but I didn’t realize until after that they were not the same macros as what was in the Krate. Revol snacks are also Delicious. I have been a fan since they were in Kickstarter. They have several flavors and all delicious.

There’s a local brewery that has some amazing food, and my favorite app is the fresh-made pork rinds. They are unflavored, but you get buffalo sauce to dip them in. Perfect

I can’t bring myself to pay $40 for this. Most of it is processed foods I wouldn’t want in my diet in general. I’d rather buy almonds, cashews, peacons to snack on.

I eat avocado daily so helps with cravings.

The Matcha bites look fun.. But I drink higher grade Matcha tea instead of coffee. I’d rather pay $40 for Matcha tea monthly then this box.
