Gramma in a Box "Spring Chicks and Bunnies" April 2020 Review

Each month we receive a card that highlights the theme and lists the contents of our box which includes two sheets of wax paper that serve as placemats to make for easy cleanup. The three projects all come on individual recipe cards that list the ingredients on the back. The directions are easy to follow and any important information is highlighted in red which is always helpful. This month our theme is "Spring Chicks and Bunnies." Cute!

Project #1: Candy Corn Flowers

Our first project was to make candy corn flowers using some pastel candy corn, melting chocolate, pastel M&M's, and pretzel rings.

As always, our first step was to pour the chocolate wafers into a bowl, put them in the microwave, stir it until melted. My daughter separated our pretzels, M&M's and the jelly beans. One of our pretzels was broken, but we managed to piece it together and make it work!

Then I added a dollop of the chocolate to the center of the pretzel and the kids added the candy corn petals with an M&M in the center. This was a little tricky because the candy corn was so heavy, but once the chocolate set, it held them all in place.

These were really yummy and even our broken flower turned out okay. This was definitely a tricky one, but the pastel candy corn was a cute touch!

Project #2: Crunchy Bird's Nests

Our next project was to make crunchy bird's nests using corn flakes, jelly beans, and our leftover melting chocolate.

My daughter stirred the corn flakes into the chocolate and then I scooped out little piles to form nests and they stuck jelly beans in the center to look like little eggs. I didn't get any pictures since we were moving quickly with this one and I had to scoop them!

These turned out really cute and the mixture of chocolate and corn flakes was delicious. I didn't eat a bite with a jelly bean, but the kids enjoyed those!

Project #3: Spring Cookie Decorating

Our last project was to decorate our cookies. We received some baby pink, blue and yellow icing, and 4 cups of sprinkles to match.

There were 8 cookies; 2 large chicks, 2 large bunnies, and 4 small egg cookies.

The kids did a really great job decorating! The icing actually blended together really well and they made a few "rainbow" eggs.

I tried to get creative, but my bunny turned out a little scary. Their cookies were much cuter! Haha. The cookies were yummy, as per usual! Not super sweet and always a bit better once the icing sets, in my opinion!

Here is our finished plate of treats. We had 6 flowers, 6 bird's nests, and 8 cookies!

I love how easy it is to clean up afterward. I recycle all of the plastic inside the box it all came in and then it's just a quick wipe down of the table and the kids and we can move on to our next activity!

Verdict: This month's Gramma in a Box projects definitely got us in the mood for spring with the flowers, bird's nests, and cute little chicks and bunnies all in some fun pastel colors! We actually did this as a family on Easter which was a great way to spend some time together as an immediate family since we didn't have any plans like we have in year's past. I love the time we get to spend together with no planning or baking on my part and a simple clean up. There are always just enough treats for our family of five to enjoy without a ton of leftovers, too. This box is always worth the $20/month box for the special family time we get to spend together!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

This is amazing! My 5 year old is obsessed with cake/cookie baking and decorating shows. She is always begging me to try it but I don’t have a baking bone in my body! This will be perfect for her to try it!

I was so surprised that this box only cost $20! There’s no way you could buy all the stuff to make these for $20! Plus, there’s no baking, mixing, and clean up! This is a great box for anyone with a small child/children.

I bought a box through the link too! I have a teenage daughter but I think we’ll have fun doing this together. Anything to mix things up since we can’t go out.

This is fab! I had no idea this existed! Just purchased via your link with the $10 off. ❤️Even for $20, the value seems to be there. Think I will keep this one through the pandemic!
