Birchbox 'Woman-Founded. Volume 1' Curated Box #1 Review - March 2020

Per usual, this month's Birchbox came with a single info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

Beachwaver Co. Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray, 1.4 oz. - Estimated Value $4.72 (Buy a full-size 8.3 oz. for $28.00)

I haven't been going out much at all lately so doing my hair is something that hasn't been happening all that often. That being said, sometimes it feels nice to do something nice with my hair and throw on some makeup even if I have nowhere to go. This heat protectant hair spray smells ridiculously nice and can be used in damp or dry hair before using any hot tools like hair dryers or curling irons. Since I do blow dry my hair pretty often, this is a great step before doing so and I've noticed it really makes my hair look a little more full without feeling crunchy.

amika un.done Volume and Matte Texture Spray, 0.75 oz. - Estimated Value $7.50 (Buy a travel size 1 oz. for $10.00)

I have always loved that way amika products smell! This cute little chubby volume and matte spray actually does make a difference in my hair. I normally shy away from hair products that aren't just leave-in conditioners but this one really gives my hair body without feeling crunchy. I was on a video call for work and Megan wrote to say "why do you look so chic?" and perhaps it was because I had just sprayed this into my freshly washed hair?

Naturally Serious Skin Warrior Anti-Pollution Repair Cream, 0.25 oz. - Estimated Value $6.76 (Buy a full-size 1.7 oz. for $46.00)

This moisturizer smells really nice and contains magnolia and mangosteen extracts, colloidal oatmeal, plus shea and cocoa butter. It has a rich texture that slowly seeps into my skin once I slather it on my face. It seems great for skin that is in need of extra hydration.

Benefit POREfessional Hydrate Primer, 0.10 oz. - Estimated Value $5.20 (Buy a mini 0.25 oz. for $13.00)

This primer has a really nice powdery soft finish to it that preps my face for makeup. The cream itself has a slight nude tint to it but doesn't really show up once rubbed onto my skin. It creates a lovely matte surface and smells light and subtly floral. I normally don't have visible pores but this should also help those who do.

Georgette Klinger Vitamin C Toner, 0.50 oz. - Estimated Value $7.65 (Buy a full-size 1.7 oz. for $26.00)

This toner contains vitamin C, known for brightening from the Kakadu plum. It also has aloe, witch hazel, elderflower extract, and watercress to calm skin. I've been using it after cleansing and before serums or moisturizers to add these benefits to my skin with a simple cotton pad. It has a pleasant smell and can also help remove anything I didn't get with my cleanser.

Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch, 6 ct - Estimated Value $2.17 (Buy a 36 ct for $12.99)

Okaaaaay I am obsessed with these patches now. I feel like all different brands of these patches are gaining popularity so I'm just jumping on the bandwagon. I've been pretty stressed lately, to say the least, and while I normally have great skin, the stress has been taking its toll and really manifesting on my face. These patches are made of a clear thin rubbery substance that sticks right over the blemish you want to get rid of. They're quite comfy too since they're super flexible. I've been putting them on before bed since they need at least 6 hours to do their job and then I wake up, I usually forget I even have them on. My zit may not be gone that morning, but it usually disappears by the next day. I really think these patches make a difference in the time pimples stick around. I've used them all and will definitely be purchasing more.

Verdict: The volume 1 version of this woman-founded curated Birchbox shared a product with the 2nd, but most people would only be getting one. I was most impressed with the Mighty Patch and will soon be ordering more to help reduce my stress blemishes. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amika texture spray since it seemed to make quite a nice difference to my flat hair. This box has an estimated value of $34 which is almost $20 over the $15 cost.
