This review is of the Mixed Book Box for $19.95 a month + $4.95 shipping. This option includes board books and picture books for families with children in both age ranges.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

You can choose to have your books wrapped each month for an extra $5.00 per shipment. The paper is always nice, thick quality, and often features their signature Lillypost fox. I think this makes receiving our books just a bit more special each month.

Lillypost February 2020 "Woodland" Review

Lillypost always sends us a set of Finnley the Fox stickers along with a little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month’s theme is "Woodland " and they gave some great facts about woodlands and the trees you can find there that we enjoyed learning about!

Tiger, Tiger Time to Take a Bath by Jo Lodge - Retail Value $13.54

This book is so cute and fun! Each page shows a different animal and an action that they perform like Tiger taking a bath and getting clean or this elephant blowing its nose. The tiger starts out dirty, but as you slide the little circle, you can see he gets nice and clean. All of my kids enjoyed the simplicity of this one and how the slider worked!

Sheep Dog and Sheep Sheep by Eric Barclay - Retail Value $17.99 (found here for $11.38)

Sheep loves to dance (note that she knows the "get this spider off of me dance" and the "pee-pee dance") and is quite absentminded it seems as she is always running into things. One day she runs right into Sheep Dog and learns that his job is to watch over the sheep. She thinks that she has a few ideas to help him like putting a bow in his hair to keep it out of his eyes and locating a map so that he doesn't get lost, all the while oblivious to the danger around her. This was a cute story with cute characters and just the right amount of silliness and sweetness!

The Gingerbread Man and the Leprechaun Loose at School by Laura Murray - Retail Value $17.99 (found here for $9.99)

This book was so much fun to read! It takes the classic rhyming elements of the Gingerbread Man and turns it into a thrilling story as he tries to catch a mischievous leprechaun who is making messes all over his school. This was a fast-paced book with a lot of different textual features that made it so interesting and fun to read. I loved this one and so did the kids, despite my awful Irish accent!

This book also had a fun bonus poster in the back pocket of our book. There was a wanted sign on the front with some great activities on the back!

Verdict: Our mixed book box from Lillypost was a home run this month! These were some really great books that I know I will enjoy reading over and over again as much as the kids do! They were unique and cute, and probably not books that I would have discovered on my own. I like that they sent us a leprechaun book well before March and that it had that fun activity poster in the back! The total retail value of our books came to $45.03 which is great for a  $24.90 ($19.95 + $4.95 shipping) box!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the March box.

Value Breakdown: At $24.90 ($19.95 a month + $4.95 shipping) for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Tiger, Tiger Take a Bath: $5.00
  • Sheep Dog and Sheep Sheep: $9.95
  • The Gingerbread Man and the Leprechaun Loose at School: $9.95

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
