Fabulous You February 2020 Review

Each box comes with a small booklet with a note from the founders and a list of all the items inside. It also mentions they are both cancer survivors and portions from the box go towards cancer research.

Kendra Scott Edie Silver Cuff Bracelet in Slate Cats Eye - Retail Value $55.00

I like the majority of Kendra Scott designs. They are also one of those brands that have metals that work just fine with my skin, which can be a little sensitive. You probably already know I am obsessed with cuff bracelets and I loved this one immediately! It is perfect for stacking or wearing alone. I also love that the metal is silver and the cat eye stones are also a shimmering grey shade. Loads of light get caught up in these cabochons and they have so much shimmer inside.

I am actually so into this cuff.

Ever Silver Pendant Necklace in Slate Cats Eye - Retail Value $50.00

This necklace perfectly matches the cuff from above. Again, really thrilled with the sophisticated choice of this silvery stone. It actually leans a little lavender depending on what you are wearing, which is very pretty. This necklace is minimal enough to wear with other favorites or wear alone. I am very pleased with this set.

Absolutely LOVE this with my fave Marla Aaron Bolt Necklace.

Banjees 2 Pocket Wrist Wallet - Retail Value $19.95

I have actually been on the lookout for something like this for my long walks with Tucker. It feels silly to haul a purse just to carry my phone and important cards. This is a wrist cuff style carrier with two built-in pockets. It is made out of a moisture-wicking athletic-style fabric that has lots of stretch. The black marble design is subtle enough to go with anything!

Teami Luxe Edition Tea Rose Gold Tumbler, 20 oz - Retail Value $54.99

The retail value of this tumbler seems a little out there, but I will admit that it is quite nice, especially for a tea lover like myself. The built-in filter makes it totally functional for both loose leaf teas, fruit-infused water, and more. You can use this hot or cold and it will maintain temperature for hours. I also like the built-in wrist lanyard!

Teami Chai Tea Blend, 20 bags - Retail Value $29.99

For as much as I adore tea, I really dislike chai. For that reason, I passed this on to Marne, who loves chai! Here are her thoughts:

This chai is really lovely. Spicy and warm. I let the tea bag steep in half a mug of hot water, then poured warm milk in to make it a latte. Super tasty!

This bag comes with 20 servings, so if you like chai, you and Marne can enjoy it for quite some time!

Spongelle Coconut Verbena Pedi-Buffer - Retail Value $16.00

I was shocked that this box came with FOUR Spongelle products! That's crazy! I like this brand a lot though, and use them pretty frequently when I have them. This first sponge is actually a pedicure buffer in a delightfully fresh coconut and verbena scent. Half of the sponge is the normal Spongelle texture and the other is a coarser buffer bar. It provided a nice amount of exfoliation and was a welcome addition to my recent home pedicure.

Air Fresh Tuberose Zodiac Buffer - Retail Value $20.00

Our first body buffer is an adorable star shape from their zodiac line. Though I am a fire element Leo, I absolutely love the fresh floral scent from this little celestial sponge!

Spongelle French Lavender Multi-Use Body Buffer - Retail Value $16.00

When I get a Spongelle in a different box, it is usually this lavender scent. That suits me just fine since I like lavender very much! These flower-shaped sponges hang from a black satin ribbon, which is perfect for hanging in your shower between uses. I usually get at least 14 showers from one of these!

Spongelle Sugar Dahlia Multi-Use Body Buffer - Retail Value $16.00

Our final sponge is another flower style, but in a yummy and sweet sugar dahlia scent. My nose picks up a little ylang ylang and citrus, as well as petals.

Cacao Graham Crack, 4 oz - Retail Value $6.00

Wow. These were freaking delicious. They are graham crackers coated in delicious chocolate, toffee, and sea salt. A treat that is both sweet and salty is my ultimate weakness... these did not last long and I didn't share with anyone!

Cacao 4-Piece Pave Box - Listed Value $12.50

This 4 piece sampler was also really tasty, and from the same confectioner as those amazing graham crackers. I enjoyed these squares because they were all semi-sweet and utterly complex in terms of taste. These were certainly the type of treat that you savor one by one, exploring all the different ingredients and flavors inside each.

The Drop It Wine Glasses, set of 2 - Retail Value $24.00

Our kitchen has a massive ceramic farmer's sink that has cracked much of my glassware. We are clumsy, ok? It is actually so bad that we have only started to buy metal and plastic drinkware for the house! These unbreakable BPA-free goblets are a perfect addition to my shelves and despite being plastic they still have a really nice weight.

TokyoMilk Zebra Tote - Retail Value $12.00

This mini reusable tote is very cute. It also happens to be the perfect size for stashing art supplies or yarn. Because it is made of plastic, I can wipe down any paint splatter or dirt, too!

TokyoMilk Yellow Flower Hand Soap, 8 oz - Retail Value $12.00

We have a recently remodeled guest bathroom and I love stocking it with fancy hand soaps. This pretty bar certainly fits the bill, and it has a truly lovely scent that is a blend of citrus and flowers. It is also very gentle on my hands which is a plus in a time when I feel like 50% of my day is handwashing.

TokyoMilk Awaken Within Handcreme, 2.7 oz - Retail Value $22.00

What a pretty scent! This hand cream smells like jasmine, orange blossoms, and warm sunshine. It feels great on my dry hands and the packaging is beyond gorgeous, even for the already elevated standards of Margot Elena. Though this cream is perfectly giftable, I think I will be keeping this one!

TokyoMilk Song In D Minor Parfum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $36.00

I tend to like the more odd fragrances from TokyoMilk, but I am not sure I am sold on this one. It smells a little serious compared to the majority of my scents. The biggest note here is a lovely gardenia, which I normally would be gaga for. I think the base of amber is where I get lost because it makes what should be a frilly white floral scent feel a little weighed down. I plan on trying this again in a few days to see if it grows on me.

TokyoMilk Rose Water Lip Balm, 0.22 oz - Retail Value $10.00

Our final item is a wonderful little lip balm pot, also from TokyoMilk. It has a sweet rose scent and is very moisturizing to my lips. I also (again) adore this gorgeous packaging.

Verdict: Wow. There was A LOT shoved into this Fabulous You Box. And I really quite enjoyed it! The box opened up with jewelry from a brand I really like, took me to tea land, showered me in fragrant sponges, fed me delicious sweets, and then surrounded me with beautiful scents from TokyoMilk. This box kind of felt like Christmas! Value-wise, there is definitely enough here to justify the $165 price tag if you are looking for a little more of a higher-end "treat yourself" sort of box. I think the fact that this box is quarterly might help that sort of a splurge make more sense and it is certainly worth your time if you have the budget and love these sorts of brands. The total value here lands around $412.43, which is over the promised $400 value of this $165.00 box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box will be the May 2020 box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $165, meaning each of the 17 items has an average cost of $9.71.

Keep track of your subscriptions by adding this box to your subscription list or wishlist!

What are your thoughts on the February 2020 Fabulous You Box?

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

What I saw when I went over the review were leftovers from other sub boxes or products not moving from the websites. Of course there is Margot Elena, Spongelle, the glasses look familiar from a sub box

I would love the TokyoMilk hand cream. I will have to keep an eye out for it. I agree that this box is overpriced. I like quite a few of the things, but more $80 worth kind of like.

Lana

You could get a Margot Elena box and and FFF or Pop Sugar to same effect and still have money leftover to spend

Kathy

I think the curation’s pretty good, kinda weird that half of it was what you could find in a Margot Elena box though. I personally wouldn’t say this is worth spending $165 for, probably $100 if the company wanted to keep the ‘high end’ image they’re going for (and even then to make it feel more high end I think they need to rebrand…hot pink + that font doesn’t scream luxury to me but idk maybe my ideas are different)

Loved reading your review. Would love to try most and the jewelry is right up my alley. No thanks on a purchase, though. That is a lot of money.

It certainly is a splurge type of box for sure! And possibly the most expensive I have ever reviewed unless I am forgetting something… which is entirely possible!

I rarely ever comment but I am floored at what’s inside this box for $165. I wouldn’t consider this box if it was $65. I’ve been subscribing to fabfitfun for 3 years and Rachel Zoe plus others and they are much lower than this with much better quality items and value. I’m also surprised that this review didn’t give the total of the box which at retail value was $412.50
Usually the reviewers are good about mentioning the total value vs the cost of the box. I’m honestly a little disappointed – this doesn’t feel like an honest review but a sponsored one. Sorry! Love MSA but I definitely feel like certain box reviews have vanished without a trace, including previous reviews that are suddenly not here when I do a search. (Single swag, Cate and Chloe, etc)

$400 for $165 box isn’t good?

Reply ButtonReply

Darlene

No because this stuff isn’t worth 400.00. Not even close.

Megan K.

Hi Tracey! I have added a total retail value mention to the wrap-up for clarification. I generally always include these but needless to say, the last week has been a little out of the ordinary and sometimes I forget something. Thanks for the catch and your patience. I also want to assure you that these opinions are 100% my own. Agreed. Typical paid over the top positive review.

Hi Darlene! These opinions are entirely my own. Admittedly, I am a pretty optimistic person though! If you want to learn more about how we review boxes, this link has all the details: https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2013/11/subscription-box-review-process.html

Darlene

I agree. I would love to see what the opinion would be if Megan had actually spent her own money on this box. This isn’t even a 50.00 box.

SinglesSwag (one word) has some old reviews that you can still access. Not sure why the company is not reviewed anymore, I’ve gotten some great boxes from them.

Tracey Griffith

Thanks! I believe 3 reviews vanished that had been previously posted. I purchased a sub from singleswag at the beginning of the year based on the review and saw the spoilers for the next month. Went back to search the review to look at an item and the more current reviews wouldn’t pull up? Seemed odd since you can seach out many old review and spoiler posts (it felt like a relationship had been changed between MSA and SS or maybe I’m just overthinking it?) I need to take a break from my boxes anyway but really enjoyed seeing the SS spoilers and reviews to help me determine if I wanted to skip or purchase 😉

Marion

Teami is a really sketchy brand. They must be practically giving stuff away to sub boxes, because it is popping up everywhere. I highly advise reading the reviews of the company that employees have left on GlassDoor if you’re considering purchasing any of their products.

That being said, I think there is potentially $165 value in this box, if you happen to like everything. As others have said, I’d rather go to TJ Maxx (or Nordstrom Rack, or even wait for a Birchbox sale) & pick out my own items for that amount of money.

Reply ButtonReply

Steph

I’ll never purchase Teami products due to what it’s associated with.

What is?

I would have liked to see a photo of the wrist wallet on loaded with a phone and other items you would carry. It would be good to see how it fit and know it it was too heavy, if things fell out, or if you are like me, kept bumping it on things as you walked.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hi Kim! I can make that happen over the weekend. <3

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I got this box and have used the wrist wallet. It fits my iPhone 7 but it does get heavy, so I wear it more on my upper arm than on the wrist where it flops around.

Reply ButtonReply

Alicia

Wow, I understand it’s your money if you decide to buy but $165??? This looks like a bunch of things from marshals that you could get so much cheaper! The prices on this stuff seems ridiculous, please consider that before buying this!

Reply ButtonReply

M

I’m probably the only one who isnt impressed with this box. For $165! Someone has lost their mind. IMO. A bunch of Spongelles?!?!?! It feels like filler to me. A tote for $12 that I can get for 99 cents at Marshall’s. Soap, some snacks. Just not impressed.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

You’re not the only one. I would never pay 165 for this. Never. It’s all fillers and nothing substantial. It’s all the basic stuff anyone who gets sub boxes would get.

Reply ButtonReply

Lizc

I would be tempted if it was $100, but $165 just doesn’t do it for me. The jewelry is gorgeous though.

Reply ButtonReply

Flora

I love Kendra Scott jewelry and I sign up for her emails. She usually does big sales a few times a year and some of her products will go on clearance as well. Currently some of her jewelry is up to 60% off with an additional 25% code PICKMEUP. If you sign up for emails and put in your birthday month, you get 50% off any one item (or 25% off one item from our Fine Jewelry or Home Collection) at her stores, and I’m lucky I live a few miles away from one.

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

I think this is a strong first start. Hope they keep it up. There aren’t enough items I am interested in to sub (at this time) but I like the assortment. Glad there wasn’t one expensive hero item. Those are so hit or miss and too much of a gamble.

Reply ButtonReply

Natlovesmelody

When we are allowed to swap again, I have these items up for swap with the exception of jewelry which was swapped prior to hiatus and sweets which i used a gift to cheer up a friend recovering from a broken arm.

This box looks Fabulous. I really like the wristlet thingee–perfect timing for minimizing germs in the grocery store, vs touching more stuff by handling a purse, searching for wallet, searching for payment, etc. Less stuff to disinfect when I get back in car. Lots of thoughtfully picked useful items. The only thing lacking is a role of luxury toilet paper, LOL.

Reply ButtonReply

TNTriathlete

The wrist wallets are on sale. I bought two and they were 12 dollars plus change each with free shipping. I thought that was entirely reasonable. Just wanted to let people know they are available and on sale. (You can see the website in one of the pictures.)

Great Review! Really nice box. Not in my budget but I do like it.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

I would total sub if it weren’t for that ridiculous Kedma cream as the hero item

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

I’m with you, Beth. I read scathing reviews for the Kedma brand, and now I don’t think I would even use it. That makes the next box worth only the items that will come with the Kedma moisturizer, so those items would have to justify the $165 outlay.

Reply ButtonReply

Ake

Thanks so much for reviewing this! I can’t see myself ever buying it, but reading the review was a welcome distraction in these serious times.

Reply ButtonReply

Christy

I like a lot of the individual items in this box, but I feel that a $165 should have a hero-type item instead of a lot of little things I like. And I realize this is probably just a personal preference, but I always think it’s weird when boxes shove in like 4 different items from the same brand, like the Margot Elena and especially the Spongelles in this box. Not that I have anything against Spongelles, but it just feels to me like they needed more junk to top off the box and were like, “Sure, more Spongelles will do.” And you’re SOL if you don’t like them. It’s weird to me that it’s not a Spongelle or Margot Elena box, yet there are so many products from each.

On another note, I have the TokyoMilk Rose Water lip balm on my nightstand and I think it is magnificent. I detect a sweet rose…flavor…when I put it on.

And I WANT that KS bracelet, yo.

Reply ButtonReply

Zo

FYI there is a 3 pack of the Margot Elena lip balms on sale at the costco website for $9.97 that includes shipping.
Kiss of the Mermaid
Age of Aquarius
Pucker up Poseidon

Zo

Ugh, I should have looked before I posted. I don’t see them any longer on the website. sorry.

Chris Hall

Wow, what a great box! Going to keep my eye out for May spoilers.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristine

Looks like a fun box. The value is there. I would love if they had spoilers before the May box. When your spending that much I like to have an idea what I’m getting. Great review.
