ban.do Goody Bag February 2020 Review

Encouragement Greeting Card Set - Retail Value $12

I am one of those people whose eyes light up at the sight of the mailman (I have a feeling we all have that in common!). I am such a huge snail-mail enthusiast, and I love sending and receiving cards the most. I have a vast collection of blank cards at the ready, and this collection of various cards for various occasions fits perfectly into my collection. I love the very plain yet stylized aesthetic ban.do is known for, and they really do have a way with words.

Get it Together Pencil Cup - Retail Value $12

Everyone needs a friendly, googly-eyed pencil cup! I like how his emotions vary depending on the angle he's placed. There is adequate storage of writing utensils for the average desk; however, my colorful pen collection is far too large, and I can't choose favorites. Luckily, I have a lot of makeup brushes that need an easily accessible home. This cup is also a great space saver since it can fit flat against the wall, and the rubber stoppers on the bottom keep it from moving around.

Getaway Luggage Tag - Retail Value $10 (currently on sale for $4)

Luggage tags are great when you remember to use them. I have several from different subscription boxes, and I always forget where I've put them. Unfortunately, I have never been to Paris, so this tag makes me feel like a phony; I will be gifting this to my sister who was just in Paris last week. This tag is made of leatherette detailed with gold hardware and doesn't have a cheap feel to it like some faux leather does; I am sure it will last for many trips to come.

Float On Drink Floaties - Similar found here for $12, currently on sale for $4.80

These drink holders put me in a dream state thinking of my last beach vacation, drinking daiquiris at the pool and listening to the Yacht Rock station. Reality hits, and it is below freezing and there is a light dusting of snow on the ground. These seem similar to the floats we had in the past, which were pretty decent and didn't spill too much of your drink into the pool. I will have to tuck these away for our next getaway, but I am really looking forward to seeing them in action. I linked a pair of drink floaties above from ban.do: same concept with an even cuter design.

Write On Pencil Set Paradiso Greetings - Retail Value $10 (currently on sale for $4)

This pack of no. 2 pencils is so pretty! There are four designs and ten already sharpened pencils. I love writing utensils, but I have to be honest, I haven't reached for a pencil, let alone owned a pencil in years. Maybe this set will help me turn over a new leaf, and go back to my pencil writing and mistake erasing roots.

Hot Stuff Thermal Mug in Bellini - Retail Value $15 (currently on sale for $6)

This thermal cup has a 16 oz capacity, a spill-proof lid and it will keep your beverage steaming with its insulated double-wall structure. Did I mention how cute this peachy floral design is? I have a cup hoarding situation, and I am always looking for new ones to add to my collection. Although this is hand wash only, I will likely load this into the top rack of my dishwasher anyway. This cup is made of infused acrylic and the cup is PVC hard plastic; the cup and lid are both BPA-, lead-, and phthalate-free.

Carryall Duo - Similar found here for $10

I was so happy to receive this nylon pouch duo! I have a travel makeup bag that matches the navy floral print, so this set is a great find for me. I also can never have enough of the smaller pouches, which are perfect for pens, makeup brushes, eyeliners, etc. The carabiner that connects the two bags is not too strong, but it will do the trick if you don't plan on keeping anything too heavy in either pouch.

The Verdict: I am really satisfied with this $25 goody bag! Most of the items I received were a surprise to me, although there were a few things I expected, such as the greeting cards and the thermal cup. I wasn't surprised that most of the items were on clearance on their website, since this was, after all, a part of their warehouse sale; I still think I got a lot of product for the cost of this bag ($30, including $5 shipping [not including sales tax, since that will vary]). The overall value using retail and sale pricing comes to $52.80, but if I were to calculate using just the retail value, they hit their claim with an $81 value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you order today? Unfortunately, these goody bags are sold out.

Value Breakdown: I calculated a value of $81 using retail and estimated prices of the items. Since this box cost $30 ($25 + $5 shipping), that means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Greeting cards: $4.44
  • Thermal Mug: $5.55
  • Nylon pouches: $3.70
  • Pencil Cup: $4.44
  • Luggage tag: $3.70
  • Pencils: $3.70
  • Drink Floaties: $4.44

Alternatively, this box costs $25 + $5 shipping, which means that each of the 7 items in the box has an average cost of $4.29.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

I got this as well, with different stuff besides the nylon bags. I got washi tape, post-it’s, paper clips, and mechanical pencils. Cute stuff, but I should’ve just bought another insulated bag as I love the two I have from them.

This box looks like someone poured pepto on it. You better like pink! 😂 I would have swapped the whole thing…

My box was similar.

I got pencils, a small vinyl zippered pencil case, luggage tag, the pool coasters, a travel mug (different pattern), 2 nylon pouches (different pattern), and a notebook.

I liked it, but didn’t love it, as the pattern on everything was the phrase Forever Busy and the pencils were a duplicate from the Christmas grab bag. Oh well, it’ll make for some cute gifts.

I ordered a Goody bag six months ago and loved it so much that I ordered two this time. Unfortunately they packed both bags exactly the same. I reached out to CS and was offered a 15% coupon with a side of I don’t care. Next time I’ll head down to the dollar store and spend $50 instead. I was irritated at the duplicate, but their jerky attitude lost a customer.

Never heard of this company.

I used to love their goody bags when they were all different. I ordered 2 of these and got the same items you did. They used to put all kinds of stuff in them and my multiple orders would have different items. The value is there I just wish they’d go back to the old model of all different items in each bag.

I wish I would have got the pencil cup. It’s so cute! This is a great value bag for sure. The person who feels differently needs to look how pricey their website is! I think it is good quality stuff.

So cute! Need to try this, I’ve been all over the Ipsy Box & See New Skincare Box lately!! Can’t wait to add this one to my collections!

It’s interesting that whenever someone from MSA reviews a goody bag/box from ban.do, it always has at least 50% more items than I’ve ever received in a mystery order (and I’ve ordered many)! I know that not everything can be equal, ban.do just needs to give it a try!

I got this exact same goody bag. How funny. I think saying this is worth $75 is outrageous. It’s dollar store quality. I personally feel ripped off paying $25 for this package. But I took a risk for the fun of a mystery box. never again
