February 2020 Target Beauty Box "Pucker Up" Review

This info card provides a short description of each item sampled and on the flip side a Target coupon good for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more. This month I received an in-store coupon that also includes a promo code that can be redeemed online.

Time to Pucker Up!

TwelveNYC Perfect Pout Cooling Gel Lip Mask

It was freezing outside when I received my Target Beauty Boxes this month, so this gel lip mask was ready to be used right out of the box. I don't think cold therapy did much to soothe or lock in moisture, but it was a different, refreshing experience for me. It seems a little gimmicky, but I like this sparkling lip-shaped mask and often fall for gimmicks anyway, haha.

Dr. Bronner Lip Balm in Peppermint - Retail Value $2.69

I am picky when it comes to chapstick. I don't like it to be too waxy or too oily, and as far as flavorings (let's face it, 90% of what I apply on my lips gets eaten) go, I always prefer fruity or vanilla flavors to peppermint. Even though it is refreshing and tastes great, peppermint oil dries out my lips over time, which leads to a higher demand for chapstick. It is a vicious cycle! In a pinch, this oily balm will do the trick, but it is not a new go-to.

Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Mask - Retail Value $2.59

I was shocked and relieved that this mask was not Burt's signature peppermint flavor. It is a paper-thin mask doused in almond and meadowfoam seed oils that will fit any sized lips. You can leave it on up to five minutes and does not require any rinsing; I wiped away what was left outside of my lip line and rubbed the excess product into my lips. It provided hydration and smoothed my lips so they were primed and perfect for lipstick application.

St. Ives Passionfruit Lip Scrub, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $4.99

Sugar masks are awesome for lips that need a little TLC. I usually just rub brown sugar with a drop of olive oil on my lips for a quick scrub, but this tub (which is slightly more convenient) has granules of 100% natural sugar for more gentle exfoliation. I also love the passionfruit flavor, which takes me back to my Bonne Bell Lipsmacker days.

Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick in "I Am Confident" - Retail Value $5.99

I am thrilled that Target included a lipstick in this box! I think this shade would be lovely on any skin tone, especially with this bold matte finish. I was surprised how hydrating this matte formula was, and I am looking forward to browsing more colors in this finish.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Peony - Retail Value $4.79

Another full-sized lip product! I had a slew of these when they first came out, and my mom always has one of these packed in her pocketbook. It was fun revisiting this old favorite, and this neutral pink Peony shade is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. I don't mind this minty formula since it isn't meant to be just a lip moisturizer, but does that hole on the last photo bother anyone else? I will definitely use this shimmer stick up, but that hole is unsettling.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Plums Up, 0.15 fl oz - Estimated Value $5.86 (Buy 0.23 fl oz for $8.99)

Plums Up has a very natural mauvy hue, my very favorite color to use on my lips. This formula is lip-plumping, leaving your lips tingling after application. It is not one of my favorite products to use; I like to baby my skin and lips, and the tingling is borderline uncomfortable for me. However, the tingling does subside after a few minutes of wear, and you're left with sheer, shiny color and a chocolatey flavor on your lips.

Swatches from top to bottom: Milani Matte Lipstick in I Am Confident, Sexy Mother Pucker in Plums Up, Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers in Peony

Verdict: Yes, yes, yes!!! I'm so glad Target Beauty Box finally came out with a box of makeup! The items in this month's box included some awesome products from awesome brands, making it well worth the $7 price tag. Love it! The value of this box comes to $26.91, which is almost 4x the cost of the box and one of the highest values I've seen Target put out.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available for purchase.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Wow I just snagged this box for $3.97 because of points with the Target Circle club. Until, now I thought punching my phone number in at checkout was just a better way for Target to know what I buy and give me and other customers targeted deals on what they like. This was the first time logging into my Target online account in months so it was a nice surprise to find out I had free money for a online purchase. And, the online money sticks around for a year!

I bought this months – I have used everything. The lipstick colors were generic enough that they were great for everyday use. I love the Sexy Mother Pucker!!! And the Lip Scrub too! The lip “mask” I can take or leave…. no biggie. Must buy for this month.

I love everything in this box. The lip mask was amazing. I had to order a second box after my daughter stole the lip scrub. I don’t need lip plumper, but the color is perfect for me. Though it does sting a bit for a few minutes. I will be trying the Milani before heading to work today. This is a great box. Well worth the price.

I’m trying to order the Target box and the website keeps telling that it doesn’t ship until $25 worth of items have been ordered. When that start happening with the beauty boxes?

Meg

I bought this right away as well. Looks like Target got their groove back!

Lori

Add me to the list of those who haven’t purchased a Target box in a year, but snapped this one up quick! Hope they have gotten their groove back 🙂

I agree. This one was goooooood. Let’s hope they keep it up this year!

I’ve never ordered a Target box but I just ordered this one today. I love the box itself! Several items in there I’ve already tried before and like. I’ve used the Burt’s Bees Peony Shimmer for several years and the St Ives Lip Scrub too. The Milani matte might be a little dark for me but I have a couple daughters who’ll be happy to take it off my hands. Mine should be here Wed. Hooray!

Caroline

Me neither but I just ordered my first one as well! It’s such a well timed box with all the seasonal dryness.

Lynn

I was quite pleased with this box. The only thing is the Milani is a bit darker then what I usually wear so I may try to put it on with my fingers like a stain. I think the plumper made me break out but I’m gonna try it again. All in all I was happy to get this box and hope Target keeps up the good work! Looking forward to March!

Coco

The Milani shade I Am Confident is much too dark for me. I wiped it off after applying, which left a nice stain on my lips. I topped that with gloss, for a nice MLBB color.

I never missed a Target box for years. Waking up at 0500 to make sure I didn’t miss them, but that seems like another lifetime. Something happened and for a very long time, I wouldn’t purchase the boxes, even on sale. I was so sad, because Target, in my opinion had the greatest inexpensive boxes out there. I’m so happy to say this box is just like the boxes I always associated with Target! Yes-welcome back and I look forward to setting my alarm once again if this is what the future holds!!

Sam

I got this box. The Dr. Bronner’s tip fell off but I put it right back on. The Soap and Glory gloss is hard to get out of the tube.

Did I order another 2 boxes? You betcha! This is the best box that Target ever has release IMO. $7 and free shipping?! So many goodies!

I loved this box, Target please keep this up! I haven’t ordered in almost a year because the boxes were not good.

Paula

It was one of the better boxes in a while. And DEFINITELY worth it for the box itself! It’s square and the CUTEST BOX YET!!!!

Target came roaring back with this box. Hoping it’s a sign of more great boxes to come. Nice review, too. I like that you’re very honest, but tactful.

Thank you, Amy! 2020 boxes have been hits so far! Keep it up, Target!! 🙂

Christy

I was wildly impressed with this box!

Bought 4 of these boxes! Loved this month’s box. I hoard a lot of brand new makeup and when I sell the beauty products I get from Sub Boxes, I will slip items from these target boxes as freebies. Plus, I had to buy one for my mom. My husband loves the peppermint lip balm.

EMF999

I just bought two of these boxes to exactly this. I sell on eBay

Dani

That’s a great idea! I save most of my Sephora and Ulta samples and gwp’s for the same reason. I’ve been battling a serious beauty box addiction for years and my stash is so out of control. I keep doing lots of preparation activities but still haven’t managed to get anything actually posted to sell. If you don’t mind me asking, what site or sites do you use to reduce your sub box inventory?

Rose

Caved in. Got one. Really wanting to try the plumper and the balm.

Randie

Honestly, this was probably the best 7 bucks I ever spent at Target. I feel like I got sooo much for the money. I’ve been wearing the Burt’s Bees shimmer and the Mother Pucker lip gloss pretty much every day and my husband’s been loving the Dr Bronner’s balm. I just wish I hadn’t ordered so much additional stuff with the box since I could have used the coupon on it😭

Carol

I had a $10 Target gift card in my wallet forever so I picked up this box and the Self-Care one. I am so glad I got these. I really like Milani lip products and this shade is perfect!

I got this box and it was amazing for the price!! GO Target! Please keep this up🙌👍

Target did a really great job on this month’s beauty boxes. The scrub, peony lip shimmer, lip mask, and the gel mask were great! The gel mask seems like it’ll be a great summer product after being in the sun.

Loved this box! Hope this is Target’s new trend!

I liked this box a lot! however after using the plumber a couple of times it gave me a rash so it miss.

Wow! I hope this means that Target is going back to having nice boxes. I used to always get them, but haven’t for almost a year until today. Thanks for the great review!

Same here!

So far, I’ve tried the Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer and love it. I also tried the
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss and my lips tingled so bad I had to use the Sugar Scrub to get it off of me. I might try it one more time and wait a few minutes but not sure I can handle it.

Reply ButtonReply

Paula

I’ve tried several plumping/tingling glosses, and I have to say – this one HURT the worst! But my lips looked GREAT! No pain, no gain, as they say! Lol!

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

That’s so weird to me, because personally I found this one way more manageable than most! I usually hate lip plumpers but loved the color on this one, so maybe I just got a faulty one or something – very little sting, very little plumping, but SUCH a pretty color!

Sara

Yep! 😁🍴💄
