Dr. Jart+ Cica-Care Experiment Kit Review

I have been eyeing this kit up ever since it showed up at Sephora. I fell in love with Dr. Jart+'s Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment via Sephora Favorites and keep meaning to buy the full-size jar. This experiment kit is a fantastic value if you're already in the market to buy the full-size jar since alone it costs $52! If you're not familiar, "Cica" is the short name for Centella Asiatica (aka Tiger Grass) which is an ingredient that's been all the rage in Korea for years and aims to calm redness which is a problem I have with some of my skin.

Similar to the Sephora Favorites kits, all the info you need about each product is on the back of the box.

Dr. Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water, 1.01 oz. - Estimated  Value $3.82 (Buy a full-size 8.45 oz. for $32.00)

I must admit that beauty water like this Dermaclear product has always kind of perplexed me. I know they can remove dirt, excess oil, and makeup but it just seems too simple. This one has a light floral but still pleasant scent to it and it somehow leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft. That may be from the coconut water that's in here along with other ingredients like citrus acid, grapefruit peel oil, and Dr. Jart+'s own hydrogen bio water. It seems like magic, but it works!

Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Soothing Hydra Solution - Retail Value $6.00

This mask is just what my skin has been needing lately! Nothing too special about how this mask looks or feels, but it delivered on the amount of hydration it promised. As I keep saying in my reviews, this winter is brutalizing my skin and I feel like I can't get enough moisture to it. My skin felt a lot better after using this and it didn't leave me feeling too sticky.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Serum, 0.33 oz. - Estimated Value $15.03 (Buy a full-size 1.01 oz. for $46.00)

Welp, this is my new favorite serum. I want every layer of skincare to be cica-related after using this. It has a light slippery feel to it and it absorbs really well without leaving any sticky or oily feeling behind. The key ingredients here are jartbiome (an exclusive blend of 4 probiotics from Dr. Jart), Centella RX, and cicabond. I use a pump or two of this on my face and neck after I tone but before any moisturizers and I'm sure to do a gentle tapotement to work it in.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream, 0.33 oz. - Estimated Value $4.54 (Buy a full-size 1.69 oz. for $48.00)

I think this cream might be my favorite of the box. This is the first time I've used it and it's sooooo velvety, rich and soft! I can't get over it. I'd like to imagine being wrapped in a giant glove filled with this to moisturize my whole body in a creamy luxurious cocoon. It smells so nice, just like the other Dr. Jart+ cica items which are also really soothing and calming. I think this is a big part of the perfect skin day I had when I did a shoot for the Milk Makeup kit since this whole cica kit was my skincare routine that day. I couldn't stop remarking at how great my skin looked and how soft it felt. I am 100% committed to buying a full-size tube of this even though I always have too many other creams to review. I just don't care! I need this in my life!

Dr. Jart+ V7 Priming Moisturizer, 0.16 oz. - Estimated Value $4.54 (Buy a full-size 1.69 oz. for $48.00)

Although the Tiger Grass Cream does such a wonderful job of hydrating my skin, this moisturizer will also prime my skin for makeup. It has seven vitamins (hence the name V7) including B3, C, F, K3, B5, E, and H which work together to give me bright, healthy skin. The insanely soft cream feels like velvet going on has the palest pink hue to it. It also has a wonderful sweet smell that almost smells like a mix between cookies and botanicals without being overpowering. Once soaked into my skin, there is the slight powdery feeling that my makeup adheres to well.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment, 1.69 oz. - Retail Value $52.00

The final step in this routine is the product that enticed me to buy this kit- the full-size color-correcting treatment. I discovered this item through a Sephora Favorites kit and fell in love pretty quickly. This creamy green product has the consistency almost of a clay mask, but it doesn't dry and it changes once on your skin to a more nude skin tone. It can be used as a treatment before you start your makeup routine OR you can even use it alone as you would a BB cream. It has light coverage and offers a 30 SPF sunscreen which is just fantastic. This is a wonderful product for those who want the no makeup makeup look and want to tone down redness as well. I'm not the only one who's wild about this- recently in a ladies group chat with my friends, three of us were all cooing over it and singing its praises.

Verdict: There's no doubt that the Dr. Jart+ Cica-Care Experiment Kit is a great deal. For the two full-size items and four minis, the estimated value comes to $85.93 which is double the sale cost. It's like buying the cicapair treatment I already wanted with a discount and getting the rest for free! I ended up really liking the cicapair serum and cicapair cream, so I'll have to keep those in mind when I'm in the market for new skincare. I'm also over the moon about finally having a full-size jar of the correcting treatment which I'll be using with or without a full face of makeup.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yep! This kit is still available!

Value Breakdown: At $43.50 (orig. $54)for this kit, here's what you're paying per item:

  • Micro Water: $1.93
  • Mask: $3.04
  • Serum: $7.61
  • Cream: $2.30
  • Primer: $2.30
  • Correction Treatment: $26.32

Thanks for the review! i’ve been eying this kit too! Your review makes me want to get it even more now. But I still have a full size unopened correction treatment jar from last winter. Marne, do you know what is the printed expiration date on the jar? Thanks!

Hi Phoelix! The exp on the bottom of my jar is 20220704!

FaceTory’s Lux Plus box has a much better value with full-sized items. I like what I’m seeing in this sub box (LE or not), but with mostly samples / deluxe in it, I would be iffy to pull the trigger.

This is not a subscription box. This is a one time purchase set from Sephora.

I bought this kit at Christmas for the full size SPF (I was already using it everyday because it’s my holy grail and figured even if I hated everything else in this set I couldn’t beat the deal on this) and the V7 turned out to be my favorite new find of the kit. You will love it!

Marne, yes, I really like seeing reviews on kits like this, thank you! I bought this on sale during a pre-holiday rouge promo before it launched. I agree, the serum is my find of the set (I already liked the treatment and the cream). These kits that are usually the cost of one item in it, are some of my favorite purchases from Sephora. I also liked buying their mascara samplers that came with a certificate for a free full-sized mascara from the samples which is also something they do for fragrances.

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know, WiWah. Glad you are loving this kit too. Sephora Faves are the best as well, right?!

These products are lifesavers for my dry sensitive rosacea skin. I haven’t tried the primer yet so that’ll be next on my list to try. Thanks for the review!
