Scentbird Skincare January Review

Scentbird might already be your go-to for scents each month but when we discovered they also offer skincare as a monthly option? You know I had to sign up!! The skincare options work similarly to the fragrances. Within the shop, simply select the skincare tab and start adding items to your queue.

Here is an example of some of the brands and products. There are limited numbers of each, though they seem to be restocked quite often. In the upper right-hand corner of each image, you can see your upgrade cost which is added to your normal membership price. These upgrades range from $5-15, though some of the less expensive items have no additional charge.

Here is what my queue currently looks like. In my first month of November, I saved a ton of money. I decided to up my membership to the 2 products per month plan ($25.00/month) to see how far I could stretch my membership dollars.

What did I pick this month? Let's dive in!

Joanna Vargas Daily Hydrating Cream, 1.69 fl oz - Retail Value $75.00

FYI: This item has a $5 premium upcharge.

It is no secret I am a huge Joanna Vargas fan. I have followed her for quite some time on Instagram and I finally tried one of her products in my first month of this subscription! Her formulas are indeed pricy, but they work beautifully and make me feel very chic, so that is pretty much a win in my book. (Speaking of books, Joanna is releasing one in February that I have already pre-ordered!) This day cream has a really great texture that is perfect for wearing under your makeup. A word of caution: I did notice that if I applied too much, it did pill just a little, but spritzing my face with a toner or mist before application nixed this issue. It has a fresh and creamy scent and is filled with hydrating ingredients like shea and jojoba oil. It also has some SPF inside, though I couldn't find a specific SPF number, which, admittedly, is a little weird.

Peach & Lily Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream, 1.69 fl oz - Retail Value $40.00

FYI: This item has a $5 premium upcharge.

Peach & Lily is a Korean brand that I have had my eye on for a few months now. When I saw this matcha cream in the Scentbird shop, I just had to try it. I legitimately love anything with green tea or matcha because my skin seems to lose a little redness when I keep this ingredient in my rotation. It also brings loads of antioxidants to any routine. If I could change one thing about this cream, it would be the addition of an actual matcha scent. Instead, it is more of a creamy citrus? Maybe? The texture is great and absorbs easily. I would consider this on the lighter end of the moisturizers I generally use, so I think it might be a great spring and summer skin treat. It also has niacinamide (for lightening pigment spots) and adenosine (which is perfect for firming skin!), making it a really well-rounded cream.

Verdict: This month with my $25 membership (plus 2 $5 upcharges), my total for January came to $35. I received $115 worth of product. That is one heck of a deal! Of course, this changes from month to month depending on the products you select, but I have yet to not save a ton of money with this subscription. It has allowed me to try out products and brands I would have never been able to afford, and I am loving it!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose these items for your queue. As long as there is still stock at the time of your monthly processing, it's yours!

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $25/monthly for two items and my product of choices had a $10 total upgrade fee attached, bringing my total cost to $35. For $115 dollars worth product, this means I saved almost 70%!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

FYI, their promo (buy one get one) doesn’t apply automatically, although it seems to show as working when signing up , I was charged full price the second month. Had I not look at my bank statement, I would have missed it. I had to send a message and wait for them to do a refund and they refunded me without the tax (it was just a little over $1, but still). Also, I picked an item with $15 premium brand upgrade and a week after they shipped to me, they dropped the premium of that exact product to $10. I asked if they could do a price adjustment, they said no, so it’s like I did not get second month free.
Otherwise, I like the concept and the products offered.

Gah! With every review I feel like I’m that much closer to signing up! 😀 I took a look through their offerings, and I was impressed. Weird I haven’t subbed yet (now that they sell skincare; I have subbed in the past when they were soley fragrance). I looked, but maybe I missed it, but does Scentbird do prepaid plans?

I feel like this is a very ‘Luna’ subscription! There is a slight discount for pre-paying and they have 3-6 month plans. <3

I am so glad to hear you say that the Joanna Vargas pills for you too! (I mean I’m not GLAD to hear it, that is not good but you know what I mean! LOL :)) I got this moisturizer my very first month of Scentbird and I was crazy disappointed because of the pilling. Now, to be honest, I do tend to use too much product so I thought it was just me, but even when I used a TINY amount it still pilled. I chalked it up to maybe my other products were making it pill so it is nice to know that is not the case.

I loved the Joanna Vargas serum that I received but I’ve been using this crazy expensive facial cream on my feet occasionally because of the pilling when I use it on my face. I just didn’t know what else to do. I had no idea that spritzing with a facial mist could solve this. Do you mind elaborating? Please forgive me for needing further instruction, but I would LOVE to be able to use this on my face as designed! Thank you!

Also, I plan on getting the Joanna Vargas exfoliating mask next month. I am so excited. I am absolutely crazy for Scentbird’s AMAZING selection. I’ve had the three a month plan for 5 months and I still never run out of things I want. I’ve even placed two separate orders outside of my monthly subscription. I was so excited when I saw that you were reviewing the skincare choices. Love it!

The serum is to die for!! Misting did really help with the pilling. I did still have some if I was rubbing it in hard, but just that little layer of toner ontop of my skin seemed to help a lot. I do have super dry skin and my theory is that the mist prepared it to be more absorbent? I don’t really know but that sounds good and scientific, right?

Also, side note, I am going to see Joanna speak at the Philly Esthetician Congress in March and I am freaking out! She just released a book and I am going to try and get it signed. This might be my version being starstruck. I will try to get a picture!

I’m so glad I asked and I’m so glad you answered because I assumed you meant to spritz AFTER applying! Lol. Thank you for the clarification. 😊

And yes yes yes! That sounds so awesome! Please get a picture! I hope Scentbird offers more items from her because I am ready for more.

I can’t believe it’s just a $5 upcharge for the Joanna Vargas! I have a Scentbird sub for two products a month. I keep thinking I’ll cancel it but they offer so many great deals on premium skincare I can’t seem to quit them.
