My Fashion Crate February 2020 Review

My Fashion Crate always includes an insert with descriptions of the items and their values. The front side of the page lists everything in the Essential box, while the back gives you the Premium box details. They include pictures, which I always appreciate.

Smitten Plaid Top, size L - Listed Value $38.00

I think this top could totally be cute on the right person, that being said, it is not my style at all. In theory, I love the plaid pattern; it's super cute, but this wrap-style top was not flattering on me at all. It did fit a little bit tightly, so the fit probably has a bit to do with that. It is a nice lightweight top, and I'm sure if it fit me a little more loosely, it would be a comfortable top as well, but I don't think it is quite on par with its retail value.

Weavetassy Bar Bracelet - Listed Value $11.00

This bracelet is handmade with a pink thread bar and it feels like a pretty casual bracelet to me since the string is fairly thick and definitely stands out. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a Valentine's Day accent, but I think it would be a cute way to feel festive without going all out. I can see myself wearing this bracelet in the summer as it looks like it will be waterproof since it has a light wax coating. I couldn't find this exact bracelet online, but it looks like they have a monthly subscription!

Here the bracelet is on. It's comfortable and cute!

Ribbed Bow Hair Tie - Listed Value $7.00

This is actually my first official subscription box scrunchie! I love the ribbed black fabric with the cute little knotted bow. It's cute and simple and will add just enough flair to a basic ponytail!

Offa Beauty Blending Sponge - Retail Value $6.00

My old sponge, which was similar to this, finally bit the dust, so I was happy to test this new one out to apply my under eye concealer. It is a very firm sponge, but I kind of like it because it doesn't soak up my concealer as easily as my old sponge did. It bounces right back off of your skin and seems to do the trick! Not bad for a $6.00 sponge!

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Lovely Cream Cardigan - Listed Value $45.00

This cream cardigan is perfect for spring. I didn't have any good spring colored tops out that would work with this since I am working with my winter wardrobe at the moment so I decided to pair this with the top I received in my December box since it has some off-white stripes throughout. It's not my favorite pairing, but it showcases how well the cardigan will work with some tank tops and spring dresses! I love the small open weave. While it's a nice cardigan, I definitely couldn't see paying retail value for this one.

Laritzy Athena Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $48.00

The last item was this full-size eyeshadow palette, which is a fairly new release from Laritzy. I definitely don't think of Laritzy as a high-end brand, so I was a bit surprised by the high retail value, but I do think the palette itself is very nice. It is a larger size with nice big pots of color, a large mirror and classy gold foil accents on a sleek black palette. The colors are really pretty and since these are a bit warm for me, I could easily see using these as blushes and thanks to the large pots, this is easily done!

We have 4 matte shades and 5 shimmers. The swatches in order are Atlas, Fate, Calypso, Hero, Goddess, Odyssey, Justice, Ares, and Nox. While they are not incredibly pigmented, I found that they were very buildable, which is preferred for me when the shades are this warm.

This is a look I created using Nox and Odyssey on the outer corners of my eye with Fate on the inside corners. I also used Justice on my cheeks and I thought it worked great as a blush/highlighter in one. I didn't experience any fallout with the eyeshadows and was overall pretty pleased with how I was able to make these colors work for me!

Verdict: This month's My Fashion Crate box was a pretty decent mix, although there was nothing that was overly exciting to me. I liked the cardigan and think I will be able to get a lot of use out of it this spring, although the retail value does seem too high (as was the value of the plaid top). Everything else was really reasonably priced though and didn't seem inflated at all. I think the bracelet, scrunchie, and blending brush were nice items that I didn't necessarily need, but am happy to have since I can definitely use them. The Athena palette was a pleasant surprise and a decent palette all in all. I think it was a pretty solid box even if the plaid top didn't quite work out!

The total value for the Premium box using listed values comes to $155.00 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $5.95 shipping) box. As for the Essential box, the value is $62.00, which isn't too bad for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. For the $14.95 extra paid for the Premium box, I received the cardigan and palette (valued at $93.00).

The price of this box is always absurd to me. I could easily go into Ross and pick up these same items for $30 total. You look lovely though Brandi, and wear them well – the box just is so underwhelming.

I agree. This box is a bit expensive for the items and quality you get. And these reviews try really hard to polish a turd.

Thanks, Cookie! I may have to get my sisters to give me a second opinion on that one then! 🙂
