You can accept the fragrance of the month, you can choose scents based on a short profile survey, or you can just build a calendar of scents on your own.

There are two subscription options:

  • The Standard Plan for $15 a month and includes one 9 mL travel spray
  • The Premium Plan for $18 a month and includes one 9 mL travel spray and access to premium items

LUXSB also gives active members the option to upgrade your subscription to the Duo plan, which includes one case and two premium or non-premium perfumes per month.

This is a review of the standard plan for $15/month + free shipping.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

LUXSB January 2020 Review

There were some instructions for using the holder.

The fragrances come with a little velour bag if you want to protect the vials in your purse.

On to the fragrance:

Instant Crush from Mancera - Estimated Value $13.73 (Buy 4 oz for $180)

This is right up my alley. It is an oriental floral fragrance that isn't too heavy on the floral. I might have to cough up $180 for a full size when this runs out.

Top notes include: bergamot, saffron, mandarin, and ginger. Mid notes are: rose, jasmine, amberwood, and patchouli. And base notes are: sandalwood, oakmoss, vanilla, and white musk.

So sandalwood and vanilla with patchouli are almost always going to make me happy. As florals go, rose is my favorite, but it (and the jasmine) are not super prominent here. Musk and oakmoss and woods are usually wins for me (this is listed as unisex, for what it's worth, and I tend to gravitate towards unisex and masculine fragrances), and this is honestly not too citrusy even with the bergamot and mandarin. In the end, all of the things I love are prominent and the ones I don't like as much are less noticeable, and the overall blend is just perfect for me. Of course, everyone's body chemistry is a bit different.

Sillage and longevity were above average. A lot of the Fragrantica reviews of this one are super critical but it seems hard to please anyone there.

Like with some of the other fragrance subscriptions, you’ll receive purse-sized holders for your fragrances. These are slightly larger than the ones from Scentbird or Scent Box. How often you get a new holder depends on your subscription plan.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $13.73 which is a little less than the month-to-month cost of the box, but I am OK with that because it is close and because I personally love the fragrance. I'd rather get a less expensive fragrance that I do like (and, well, this is still $180/bottle so better to try it out first) than a very expensive fragrance that I don't like.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $15/monthly and this month, I received $13.73 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent you choose).

I love LUXSB and I’ve been a member for some time. I advise once you join, fill out your fragrance calendar and try some new fragrances you may not buy for yourself. I always look forward to my shipment.

I will warn that shipping has been really spotty lately. I’m missing my December and January shipments. I understand there is a world-wide pandemic HOWEVER, my other subscriptions seem to make it with no incident.

I have been subscribed to LUXSB for a few months. They have a wonderful selection of fragrances such as Parfums de Marly, Gallivant, Source Adage, Mancera, Montale and many more. They have a awesome selection of Niche brands which I can explore. They are very prompt with customer service. Shipping is quick and I also got my husband to sign up. So each month we open our package up together which is so much fun.

I received my first box and it’s awesome! The scent chosen for me is exactly something I would pick for myself. But..When I read the instructions… It says “your ready” Cringe! How in the world could every employee not notice?! It may seem like a small thing, but it really made me question the validity of the subscription.

LuxSB has Best selection and it is more then a month supply of perfume. I love this company. I have to try this one from Mancera. Think it’s my type of perfume.

I’m interested in this because of the 9 ml size. I started with Scentbird, and had shipping delays and fragrances out of stock. So I changed to Scentbox and have received things like clockwork. Zero problems. Hearing about wrong fragrances and no replies to emails in the comments here makes me think maybe I’ll stick with Scentbox!

I tried this service in dec. I chose my selection. Then they sent me info about changes to the pricing. Next they sent the wrong perfume. I contacted them three times, no email back. Just terrible.

I’m sorry you had that experience. Make sure you are not replying to a shipping or billing email as those are not typically monitored. I notice they have chat available on their site, have you tried that? They also have a lot of social media icons on their site so you could try contacting them through Twitter or Facebook if email is not working. On the contact part of their website (look at the bottom) there is also a phone number with hours listed. Hopefully one of those alternate methods will work better for you.

I like scent box instead of LuxSB. They have good customer service and free exchange.

I didn’t like Scentbox. I feel they offer more discontinued scents and I was questionable about the scent quality. LUXSB and Scentbird are my top choices as I have tried all the perfume services.
