GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full-size, and the value is usually good too.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

GlossyBox January 2020 Review

Our first item was a promo card for HelloFresh. Marne tackled everything you need to know about this popular meal kit in her all-encompassing HelloFresh review.

BYBI Strawberry Booster, 0.5 fl oz -  Retail Value $17.00

This pink glass bottle is so cute! Inside is 100% pure cold-pressed strawberry seed oil. This oil is loaded with fatty acids which add softness to your skin by enhancing your skin's moisture levels. This oil doesn't have a strawberry scent (it is made of just those little seeds, after all!) but a barely-there natural oil sort of smell. I liked how this felt on my skin, though if you have oilier skin it might not absorb quite as fast as it did on my dry face.

Tree Hut Brown Sugar Sugarlips Lip Scrub, 9.8 g - Retail Value $5.99

Winter is pure havoc for my lips so I like to indulge in sugar scrubs to keep them soft without stripping or scratching them. This mix has larger sugar crystals in a shea butter base which feels really great long after you finish rubbing your lips together to exfoliate.

MudMasky Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask, 20 ml - Estimated Value $21.63 (Buy 60 ml for $64.90)

This was the only miss for me in this month's box. When I think of a sleep mask, I think more of a heavy cream or even a dense gel. This was a lightweight whipped sort of gel that felt more like a treatment of some kind than an over-the-top nourishing mask. I think if you have oilier skin this might be a better fit, but on my dry face (which needs a lot of overnight hydration) this was pretty ineffective.

Kandi Cosmetics Pre Glow Mist, 120 ml - Full Size! Retail Value $19.39 (£15.00)

First off, shaking this bottle was kind of magical. All of these little rose gold microscopic shimmery particles start to combine and create this mesmerizing swirling effect. It also looks pretty great on skin too, adding just a subtle halo of light to your face before you apply your makeup for the day. You can also use it as a setting mist after your makeup is on. The only drawback I personally feel there is here is that the second ingredient in this is alcohol, which some people really avoid in their skin products. I tend to also abstain as much as possible because I find it drying, but on top of my makeup (and with proper hydration underneath) I still really liked this stuff!

Purelei Black Velvet Scrunchie

I am a '90s kid, so I love scrunchies. They make me feel nostalgic and are much more gentle on my hair than other elastic ties. This one is a super chic black velvet number that I am quite into!

Avant Hydra-Bright Collagen Eye Restoring Pads, 1 pair -  Estimated Value $10.80 (Buy 5 pairs for $54.00)

Our last item this month is a pair of eye gels. I LOVE eye gels because my under-eye area tends to look dry and dull. I like to pop these sorts of gels into the fridge for half an hour before I use them, so in addition to the moisture I also get a de-puffing cold effect.

Verdict: GlossyBox has a value of at least $74.81 (even without my new scrunchie!) which is pretty good for a $21 box. I actually think this is one of my favorite boxes from this subscription in the last few months. I liked the full-size items very much and thought there was a lot of new-to-me products inside. My favorite items would be the strawberry seed oil, glow up mist, and (of course) that scrunchie. With only one dud product out of 6, I think this was a pretty great assortment!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll receive the February box as your first delivery.

Value Breakdown: At $21.00 for this box, each of the 6 items in this box has an average cost of $3.50.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Glossybox is probably the worst of all beautyboxes and their customer service is horrible. They double bill, want to ti pay to send their mistake back, and refuse to refund your account. I had to get a new credit card number.

I know different things for different people but I loved this box. I like getting unusual things in my boxes and to me this was a fun box.

I kept swirling the Kandi mist. It’s hypnotic. It’s like one of those tornado tubes!

Aside from the lip scrub (love), this box wasn’t the best. My hair is too short for the scrunchie, and I have a lot more effective masks.

Nothing exciting I like Ipsy’s this month much better. But still love the Glossy box itself.
