BomiBox K-Beauty Subscription December 2019 Review

BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card describes all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.

Barulab Black Clay Cleansing Foam, 100 ml - Retail Value $18 (on sale for $10)

Like the name suggests, this cleanser is black, and the consistency (similar to pudding) glided across my skin and turned foamy once I added water. Even though this has some chemical exfoliants like lactic acid, this didn’t leave my skin feeling tight. This is probably a bit too strong for daily use for my dry skin, but I ended up liking it more than I thought I would

Heimish All Clean Cleansing Balm, 4 oz - Retail Value $19

I’ve tried Heimish products before, and the cleansing balm was a product I hoped would eventually show up in a subscription box for me. Cleansing balms like these work great for gently removing makeup because it starts out as a solid and melts into an oil as your body temperature heats it. This was gentle and didn’t leave a film on my face,  which are really my main requirements for a good cleansing balm.

CP-1 Bright Complex Intense Nourishing Conditioner, 100 ml - Retail Value $6.66

Considering this is an “intense nourishing” conditioner I was surprised by the thin texture of it. I used a decent amount to get what I felt was thorough coverage of my long, curly hair, but my hair did drink up the moisture in this. I like that this didn’t leave my hair feeling weighed down, and I’ll be able to use the entire tube with ease.

Dr. Jart+ Hydro Shot Shaking Rubber Mask - Retail Value $12

On Instagram this is affectionally known as the “creepy baby mask,” and I was so excited to see this mask in the box. I have purchased these (full-price) from Sephora, and I’ve also seen them at my local TJ Maxx where I grab a few whenever they’re in stock. This is a rubber peel-off mask that doesn’t hurt to use the way traditional peel-off masks do. To use, you mix the two packets inside, put the lid on, shake, and then you have a thick, ooey texture to apply to your face. When it’s dry, you peel it away to reveal softer, more nourished skin. Is this on the more expensive end for a single-use mask? Without a doubt, but it’s fun and my skin gets good results, too.

Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence - Buy the 150 ml version for $38

This is a fragrance-free essence made with birch sap, rice extract, and some naturally fermented ingredients. Something about the fermentation process creates an ingredient my skin absolutely soaks up, so this makes for a really nice hydrating layer between my toner and my serum.

COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patches –  Retail Value $5

I love acne patches but these were a disappointment. They didn’t have a strong enough adhesive to stay on my face all night (or even for more than an hour), which means they’re not effective at absorbing the exudate inside of a pimple. This surprised me a bit, to be honest, because every over COSRX product I've tried I have really enjoyed.

Mediheal Warming Eye Mask in Lavender - Retail Value $1.39

This warming eye mask was a game-changer for me- so much so that after using it once I went online and ordered 12 more straight from Korea. This is a warming mask designed to soothe tired eyes, and it actually covers all of your eyes so you’re forced to put the screens away and enjoy the gentle warming sensation cocooning your entire eye area (I especially loved the way this felt on my eyelids). This has a soft lavender scent that I enjoyed, but if you want to try this sans the scent they also make an unfragranced version!

Nature Republic Madecassoside Real Comforting Sheet Mask - Retail Value $1.90

I've tried this line of sheet masks before, and I think they're a really good combination of being both affordable and hydrating. Madecassoside is a great ingredient for sensitive or irritated skin, and the mask itself fit my face well.

The Verdict: This is one of my favorite K-beauty boxes because each time it arrives I feel like I was sent a box straight from the K-beauty websites I use when I need to stock up. The Mediheal warming eye mask was a real treat for me to discover, and I am over the moon that the Dr. Jart+ rubber mask was included in this month's box, too. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of  $63.95 for everything except the Neogen essence.

To Wrap Up:

Can I get this box if I sign up today? Previous boxes are sometimes available in the BomiBox shop here for $35.99 + shipping. Order by the 15th to receive the current month's box. If you order today, your first regular box will be the February box, but beware of the late shipping.

Value Breakdown: At $38.99 for this box, you're paying about $4.87 per item.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Just a heads up the Neogen isn’t a true essence. It’s a first treatment essence, which just means it’s an exfoliating toner. It’s a nice dupe for the SKII.
