Bespoke Post "Weekender" Review

I had my sweetie, Kurt, choose the box this month since I think this subscription is right up his alley and he's been helpful in the past. Out of all of this month's boxes and the past month's options, he went with the classic weekender bag because he doesn't have anything like it and is a practical guy.

Line of Trade Special Edition Weekender Bag in Olive

Kurt enjoys earthy tones, so he chose the olive bag over the other four options of navy, grey, black, and natural (which is sold out). No matter the color, the bag comes with a brown canvas adjustable and removable shoulder strap and brown leather accents with silver hardware. There's also a brown leather patch on the front with the Line of Trade branding on it, which is an in-house Bespoke Post brand. It's quite a roomy bag at (L)20" x (H)12" x (W)8" and Kurt was surprised by its size when it arrived. We both think it has plenty of room for a weekend trip including clothes, toiletries, and some good books! There's also an inner side pocket to keep smaller or more important items from getting lost.

I do wish the leather straps were a little bit thicker, personally. Kurt didn't seem to mind though and finds it sturdy and well-made. The metal frame inside gives it that doctor bag vibe and makes it easier to see what's inside while you're digging through. In the photos above, you can see that the metal frame is held on to the canvas body with several metal rivets. The closures on the leather straps are like a belt with plenty of holes so that you can really stuff this baby full.

Here's Kurt holding the bag (sporting his new pea coat!) so you can get an idea of its size. The shoulder strap should prove to be handy when walking through the airport or anytime he may want to keep his hands free. Outside, you can see that the true-to-life color looks a bit more washed than it does in the photo studio and gives it a more vintage look.

In addition to the bag, Bespoke Post sent a couple of KIND bars which was a nice little unexpected bonus. I later admitted to Kurt that I had swiped them without his knowledge to keep as night school snacks for myself and he luckily didn't mind. 😉 KIND bars are my favorite granola bar brand so I was pretty pumped.

KIND Dark Chocolate Nut with Sea Salt Bar - Estimated Value $1.28 (Buy a 6-pack for $7.69)

This is legitimately one of my go-to flavors of KIND bars. I've been getting heavily into dark chocolate and when you pair it with nuts and sea salt, it's kind of unbeatable. This bar has 5g of sugar and 6g of protein while being gluten-free, so it's a nice little pick-me-up around 7 pm when I'm in a slump and on my break from Esthetics class.

KIND Protein Crunchy Peanut Butter Protein Bar - Estimated Value $1.60 (Buy a 4-pack for $6.39)

I haven't tried this variety before but I literally started salivating at the sight of it. Peanut butter flavored anything is my weakness and it's a favorite of mine in granola bars. This kind is from their protein line and had double the amount of the previous bar with 12g of protein. Goodness gracious, this is sooooo salty and delicious! What a yummy bar!

Verdict: The Weekender Bag from Bespoke Post this month makes Kurt wanna take a trip ASAP! He says it's really roomy and feels sturdy and well-constructed. Since this bag is a Bespoke Post brand (Line of Trade), I wasn't able to find a retail value for it but Kurt thought it'd easily be $100 at a place like J Crew or similar. That's a good value since it was only $45 for the monthly box cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yep! The Weekender is still available (except in natural/cream colorway).

Value Breakdown: With this box, the value is in the eye of the beholder. But Kurt and I both think the cost of $48.95 ($45 + $3.95 shipping) is a good price for this bag!

Thanks for the great review, Marne. That bag is very …. handsome? I guess that’s the right word. It has an urbane masculine quality to it, which marches Kurt perfectly, I think!

I received that exact bag from them. It is truly well constructed. But the problem I had with it is that because of all that hardware, it is HEAVY, even when empty. It was too much for me, so I swapped it.

Oh no! I guess that is a downside for some of us. Hopefully, you’ll find something more suitable!

Same here! Too heavy (for me, anyway) even without anything inside. Also, we ordered the grey, kind of dismal. I think I’ll sell it on Mercari.
