Wicked Good Perfume "Hygge" Review January 2020
A few things to note about these fragrances:
- They are formulated without phthalates, parabens, or petroleum
- These are vegan and cruelty-free and they use sustainable ingredients that are responsibly sourced
- I am not a huge perfume lover because they usually give me headaches, but these unique, handcrafted fragrances do not!
This month's theme is "Hygge" and the scents included are meant to provide that feeling of cozy contentment that hygge entails. On one side this card lists the products, the scents they contain and their retail value, while the back has some information about their box review contest.
Espresso Coffee Scrub, 6 oz. - Listed Value $18.00
Last month we received a wonderful whipped scrub and I have already used it all up so I was happy to see this coffee scrub in my box. It is more of a coarse, dry scrub that has mostly fine particles, but also a few bigger pieces of coffee mixed in for a medium level of exfoliation. It was slightly messy, but not so much as a traditional coffee scrub since it had the sugarcane mixed in. My skin felt soft afterward and the smell, oh man! I seriously wanted to eat this stuff! It has a sweet, delicious scent of coffee and is a blend of coffee bean, sugarcane, caramel, and peppermint, although the peppermint wasn't really noticeable. So yummy!
Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey Salve the Day, 2 oz. - Listed Value $18.00
This salve has such a silky, smooth consistency and it absorbs into my skin so nicely. There is a slightly greasy feeling afterward, as with most salves, but it leaves my skin feeling softer and hydrated. This is a blend of raw honey, tonka bean, toasted oats, and almond milk. The scent is such a cozy one with the sweet scent of milk and honey at the forefront. I definitely get a bit of that almond scent too which could be from both the tonka bean and almond milk. I've been using this every night before bed on my hands and it's such a nice soothing scent.
Hygge Perfume Oil Roller, 10 ml - Listed Value $18.00
This month's roller is a blend of magnolia, yellow rose, lychee, manuka honey, warm amber, and cedarwood. It has an earthy floral scent and I get these sharp, almost tart notes that I think come from the yellow rose and lychee, with a musky finish. It's such a complex scent that changes each time I go to smell it with the scent shifting between the warm and musky amber and cedar to the brightness of the florals. I thought it was such a nice, unexpected blend. After wearing it for a few hours, I could still smell it, but it had faded to a faint amber scent.
Cashmere Musk Perfume Absolute, 1 oz. - Listed Value $29.00
Our perfume spray this month is a blend of warm cashmere musk, sweet vanilla bean, and soft woods. I first noted the woodsy scents, but then it warmed into the musky cashmere before finishing with a sweet and slightly smoky (musky?) vanilla scent. It somehow feels like curling up next to a warm, cozy fire, which makes this such a perfect "hygge" scent. This one fades to a musky vanilla scent after a few hours. Since it has the musky scent, it also layers or pairs nicely with our roller this month and manages to soften some of those sharper tones in the roller and somehow makes it a bit sweeter.
Verdict: What a perfect January curation from Wicked Good Perfume! The scents were all so lovely and while they were very different from one another, each one came across as cozy and perfectly "Hygge." My poor dry skin was so appreciative of the fact that there was an exfoliating scrub and a silky salve and I thought they both smelled so amazing! The perfume and roller were both just as nice with their musky tones and it was great that they could be layered together. I don't even think I could pick a favorite scent this month because I loved them all! I find myself so excited to see what's in this box each month and I have not been disappointed yet by these unique scents! It feels like such a nice treat for $25.00 (including free shipping) each month.
