Stitch Fix Plus December 2019 Box 0001

Stitch Fix
3.5 overall rating

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks 5 items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different.

Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing December 2019 Review

Stitch Fix Plus December 2019 Box 0004

This is the invoice that was included. It shows in detail the items selected for me and the brands, sizes, and cost of each piece. The total comes up to $232.75 after all the discounts if I opt to keep everything—which is a $104.25 total savings! That is like getting the Kallon Brushed Knit hoodie and the Brina & Em jumpsuit for free!

Stitch Fix Plus December 2019 Box 0005

As always, I received this handy sheet with a note from this month’s stylist, Nicole! What a beautiful name, am I right? She includes some helpful styling tips for a few of the pieces and reasons for why she selected them for me. She gives great styling tips for each piece for the holidays and beyond too!

Also included was an advert for Stitch Fix gift cards for the holidays!

Caryn Shine Knit Jumpsuit by Brina & Em, Size 2x — Retail Value $58

I love a good jumpsuit, so why not one fit for a disco diva? This gorgeous, wide legged, spaghetti strap style has loads of stretch so you can comfortably bust a move on the dance floor. The fabric is beautiful also due to the silver threading that enhances the piece and adds a touch of glamour. You will be ready for any party (NYE or otherwise) in this number! I styled it with a faux fur coat, silver flats, and rhinestone disco ball earrings for added glitz!

Country Bouquet Belted Tunic by Vince Camuto, Size 2x — Retail Valye $124

Initially looking at this tunic/duster, I assumed it was a dress with an opaque slip built in. Upon trying this adorable piece on I recognized it is simply meant as an overlay. I can see this looking phenomenal for a night out on the town worn over a bra (or tunic for more modesty), high-pencil skirt, tights, and red booties to bring out the red in the tunic. I was surprised how much I loved this worn over the jumpsuit my stylist, Nicole, also included. What a show stopper, but I simply could not justify buying this gorgeous number after seeing the $124 price tag— too rich for my blood, Mr. Camuto!

Kallon Brushed Knit Hoodie by MIX by 41 HAWTHORNE, Size 2x — Retail Value $38

My stylist, Nicole, usually nails my style perfectly; however, there are exceptions from time to time. This hoodie is one of them. Did I dislike the fabric or fit? No, not necessarily, but this simply wasn't my style. This hoodie actually took me back to 9th grade. I feel like I would have worn this hoodie with my JNCO jeans and Airwalk sneakers. My cousin scoffed at me not liking the hoodie. Allow me to be clear: though it isn't my style doesn't mean I don't appreciate it for others. This hoodie is rather comfortable and made from a soft, knit sweater material. I styled this piece with dark denim jeans and flats, but imagine it with a mustard yellow corduroy mini-skirt, black cable knit tights, and oxfords. What a cute look, am I right?

Kairi Bootie by Franco Sarto, Size 9.5 — Retail Value $89

Brown shoes are not for me, sorry! I have tried a few times to purchase deep brown and even tan brown shoes as well. Just not my cup of tea; I prefer black, red, metallic, etc. Essentially anything that isn't brown—sorry not sorry. These pointy booties are well made and a great style, but I also am terrible at walking in heels. These booties would look great paired with a burgundy floral maxi dress or camel wide-legged trousers and an earth-toned Fair Isle sweater.

Hansen Pendulum Drop Earrings by Marlyn Schiff — Retail Value $28

Finally, we have these jade green dangly earrings by Marlyn Schiff. The earrings come with a card that has a mission statement about the company and also info for their social media pages. These earrings are simple, yet unique. The gold accents the rich olive/jade green incredibly well. These are rather easy to wear since they are immensely lightweight. Feels like wearing nothing at all! These would make great everyday wear pieces for sure!

The Verdict: This month's Stitch Fix was a bit of a mixed bag. I loved the Brina & Em jumpsuit and Vince Camuto tunic, but the rest of the selections were not for me. I am a bit over the top in my style and personality, so as adorable as the Franco Sarto booties and Marlyn Schiff earrings are— they are just too subdued for my holiday (or well, most days) attire. The MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN hoodie was the item that least felt like me. I have tried other pieces from the Stitch Fix exclusive brand, but this one just did nothing for me like others in the past. That is okay, though. My stylist, Nicole, is always open to my feedback and refers to my Pinterest frequently for inspiration—she's got this! This month's box may not have been a homerun, but I am eager to see what Nicole selects for me in January. Here, here, to a new year and fun fashions delivered right to my door!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $337. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $232.75 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s roughly a 31% discount!

Nicole,
I love your pictures and reviews. The fact that you style and give great feedback even when the item doesn’t particularly appeal to you (or you at your current age) is so supportive and respectful. Thank You. I have tried new brands and styles because of you.

You know I get your style when I looked at the photos of the hoodie and was like, “huh?” before reading your commentary. Not very you at all!

Tammy

Personal preference is key, but I thought that hoodie looked really good on you.

As far as the tunic, the uniqueness of it might have swayed me even at the price, and I am a 50% off 75% off kind of shopper 🙂

Awe thanks, Tammy. It was dedefinitely super comfy and cozy!

Yeah, but i am one of those end of season shoppers. I just couldn’t justify it. But it is SO pretty. I love the City Chic brand.

Hats off to you for standing in the snow in those outfits for the photos. It must have been cold! Great photos and great clothes!

AnninVA, awe thank you! It was a bit chilly that day around the holidays. But I was happy to get the pics taken. I usually do a bunch of boxes in one sitting to knock them out, but I just did Stitch Fix that day. It was all I could take! Hahahaha.

Jessica

I got that hoodie several fixes ago and I LOVE it! I felt the same way as you about it at first because I’m usually looking for something more fashion-forward from StitchFix. It was just so soft and comfy, I couldn’t let it go and now it’s one of my favorites. I really hope you kept those earrings! They are gorgeous with your hair and complexion! And, I’m not a jumpsuit girl but that looked super cute on you. 😊 Thanks for the awesome review.

Jessica, lounge wear is so crucial. It is funny I am always looking for flashy pieces when I don’t get to wear them nearly as much as I do my comfy gear. But I LOVE all the glitz! You are right though, that hoodie is comfy!
