Here is more information about the products included.

Everything came packaged in this smokey-grey bag.

Sephora donated the full proceeds from the sale of each kit to Sephora Stands.

8Greens Dietary Supplement, 2 tabs - Estimated Value $2.80 (Buy 10 tablets for $14)

I don’t love dietary supplements, especially ones that promise to give me eight different greens- how on earth can this taste palatable? For the review, I still tried them, and I will say it wasn’t as terrible as I thought it would be. The tablet was fizzy and dissolved quickly in water, and I used cold water to temp the flavor while also using less water because I didn’t want to be stuck with 8 ounces I wouldn’t drink. I was able to get this down, meaning my body got a boost of spinach, wheatgrass, kale, algae, spirulina, chlorella, barley grass, and aloe vera. I feel healthier just typing that out, but unfortunately, I don’t think consuming two of these tablets will turn me into Gwyneth Paltrow.

Biossance 100% Squalane Oil, 0.13 oz - Estimated Value $1.22 (Buy the 3.4 oz version for $32)

I am a big fan of this stuff- I received the full-size version in this mystery bag, and I use it multiple times a week. This squalane is derived completely from sugar cane (some squalane is made from shark liver), and this pure oil helps my skin hold onto its moisture both when I’m too sick to deal or when I’m layering ten different products because I feel like it.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $15 (Buy the 0.66 oz version for $20)

I’ve tried this moisturizer before and I am a fan- it is lightweight, has a nice gel-cream texture that absorbs well into the skin, and is made with grape water, chamomile, and grapeseed oil. It is still hydrating enough for my dry skin without being heavy, and I think it would work well for those with combo skin too.

COOLA Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30, 10 mL – Estimated Value $7.20 (Buy the full-size version for $36)

This makeup setting spray gives your skin a matte finish while providing SPF 30 protection, and 70% of the ingredients are organic. My preferred way of using this is to reapply sunscreen throughout the day without having to worry about ruining my makeup, and this small sample tucks into my purse with ease.

Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm, 0.13 oz - Retail Value $18

I had high hopes for this lip balm because I have seen a lot of positive reviews, but this disappointed me. It didn't perform any better for me than the average chapstick and my lips never felt fully moisturized even though I was reapplying it whenever my lips felt dry. Considering the exceptionally high price for this lip balm, I give it two thumbs down.

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm, 0.40 oz - Estimated Value $5.17 (Buy the 1.7 oz version for $22)

I love this stuff—I have used it before and picked up the full size when it was an Ipsy add-on product. You take some of the product that has a thick consistently and rub it into your face to break down makeup before wiping your face with a warm towel. This takes care of all of my makeup (even mascara), is super gentle, and it leaves my face feeling clean as well.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $17

I don’t know if this box needed both argan oil and squalane oil, but this will still be used. In a pinch, I use argan oil to tamp down my frizzy curls, but I also will use this on dry lips to give them a boost of occlusive moisture. This sample isn’t new to me, but I’m not mad about having it again.

Origins Ginzing™ Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $12.50 (Buy the 0.34 oz version for $25)

I really like this eye cream, and I am happy to have more samples of it for travel. When I’m not testing eye creams for reviews, I use this every morning to help with my dark circles, and it absorbs well into my skin. A little bit goes a long way, and it doesn’t interfere with any makeup I put on top. This definitely makes a noticeable difference in masking dark circles, but I’m not sure if there are long term effects of fighting them from appearing in the future.

Primera Alpine Berry Water Cream, 0.33 oz - Estimated Value $8.25 (Buy the 1.6 oz version for $40)

I have been seeing Primera pop up a lot lately, and I will happily try any moisturizer that has squalane as the third ingredient. This has a really lightweight texture that I think all of my oily-skin friends will love, but my dry skin didn't hate this, either- it would be a great option for me in the summer.

Ren Clean Skincare Evercalm™ Global Protection Day Cream, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $14.41 (Buy the 1.7 oz version for $49)

This is another good morning moisturizer (if the name "day cream" didn't give a hint) that is designed to soothe sensitive skin while also fighting pollution and other skin irritants. This moisturizer didn't wow me, but I would happily use it again.

Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $14.50 (Buy the 2 oz version for $58)

I have a deep love for YTTP even though I have only tried a few of their products, and since my skin loves adaptogens I was so ready to dive into this. The formula is nourishing without being too heavy, and it layered well under sunscreen when I used it in the morning while keeping my dry skin happy all day. It was also nourishing enough to use at night.

The Verdict: I am a big fan of Sephora's Favorites kits, so even though this box had a few repeats for me I was still excited to try it- especially since all of the proceeds go to charity. I had really been wanting to try that Drunk Elephant lip balm, so even though it ended up being a disappointment I'm still happy I was able to try it at a discount through this set. I calculated a total value of $116.05, more than three times the cost of the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you order today? No, this kit is no longer available for purchase.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $37.95 ($32 + $5.95 shipping) and had a total value of $116.05, which means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • 8Greens: $0.92
  • Biossance:  $0.40
  • Caudalie: $4.91
  • Coola:  $2.36
  • Drunk Elephant: $5.89
  • Farmacy: $1.69
  • Josie Maran: $5.57
  • Origins: $4.09

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I’m really confused by the Farmacy cleansing balm being considered “clean” when the fifth listed ingredient is a microplastic.

When was this even available? I’m on the app every day and check the favorites kits quite frequently and never saw it. I would’ve loved to purchase one!

This was available in late November. MSA posted about it then too. With all of the great deals going on around that time the post probably got pushed down & buried pretty quickly.

Josie Maran’s Argon Oil was the first time I ever used an oil on my face and I I I fell in love with it. I am glad I tried that years ago because I then wasn’t worried about using oil or serums on my face. It made my skin softer. I think that part of preventing aging on skin has a lot to do with keeping it hydrated with moisturizers and by drinking water. More than other proven anti aging ingredients, keeping your face hydrated is key. I’ve tried a few other facial argan oils and this one is by far my favorite.

Seems like a great kit. Thanks for the review!
