Scentbird Skincare December 2019 Review

Scentbird might already be your go-to for scents each month but when we discovered they also offer skincare as a monthly option? You know I had to sign up!! The skincare options work similarly to the fragrances. Within the shop, simply select the skincare tab and start adding items to your queue.

Here is an example of some of the brands and products. There are limited numbers of each, though they seem to be restocked quite often. In the upper right-hand corner of each image, you can see your upgrade cost which is added to your normal membership price. These upgrades range from $5-15, though some of the less expensive items have no additional charge.

Here is what my queue currently looks like. In my first month of November, I saved a ton of money. I decided to up my membership to the 2 products per month plan ($25.00/month) to see how far I could stretch my membership dollars.

Included was a card with info on Glow Recipe. Both of my items this month are from that brand.

And here they are:

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleep Mask, 2.7 fl oz - Retail Value $45.00

FYI: This item has a $10 premium upcharge.

I absolutely love Glow Recipe and since I recently received the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer in my December Boxycharm Premium, I liked it so much that I decided to select this sleeping mask. This is pretty lightweight in terms of sleeping masks, and it is much more of a heavy gel formula than a cream. It has the same amazing scent as the moisturizer and arrived with a handy scooping spoon so I don't have to dip my hands inside. This is an ideal sort of sleep mask because in addition to hyaluronic acid for moisture retention, it also boasts AHAs which exfoliate your skin while you sleep! I absolutely loved this stuff and though I might need something a little heavier in the winter (more on that below) this is an ideal spring/summer sleep mask for my skin.

Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleep Mask - Retail Value $45.00

FYI: This item has a $10 premium upcharge.

I doubled up on Glow Recipe this month! This avocado mask has been on my wishlist now for a few months, and is there anything more creamy and moisturizing than avocado? My sad winter skin just deserved this treat! It has a very light, creamy, and slightly earthy smell, but nothing most folks wouldn't enjoy. It also arrived with a spoon to help me scoop it out of the jar, which was even more of a blessing as this jar had a much smaller opening than the watermelon mask. This is much more of a heavy-duty night cream, something my skin relishes! I am also really happy that this cream layered over my current face oil without any pilling. My face legit glows in the morning with this combination!

Verdict: This month with my $25 membership (plus 2 $10 upcharges), my total for December came to $45. I received $90 worth of product. Basically, it was like walking into a Sephora and having a 50% of coupon for two Glow Recipe products. Who wouldn't be thrilled with that deal? I also loved both formulas and think I may have found a great seasonal plan in terms of sleep masks: Watermelon for spring and summer, Avocado for fall and winter!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose these items for your queue. As long as there is still stock at the time of your monthly processing, it's yours!

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $25/monthly for two items and my product of choices had a $20 total upgrade fee attached, bringing my total cost to $45. For $90 dollars worth product, this means I saved 50%!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Their website looks as if they don’t even have skincare options, which is weird. I was thinking of signing up and it asked me what perfumes I want to try. Then at the billing page, it confirmed “second perfume free.” Am I missing something? I definitely only want skincare, no perfume. I also wish they showed current skincare options, or at least a previous month’s options…

Googled “Scentbird skincare” and got a totally different page than what was linked here, but I found it and the skincare options! Looks like the second month free isn’t a deal for skincare though, the website is saying 25% off your first box. Looking forward to trying it out!

Thanks so much for the review – I had no idea they had other products. I just signed up and I’m so excited!

You are very welcome! I didn’t notice until a few months ago myself! They don’t make a big fuss about it, which is odd because it really can be an amazing deal.

Is there skin care that doesn’t have a $10 mark up? Love the idea you get to pick the skin care. If you don’t like a month can you skip?

They do have some and the added premium cost upgrades can range from $5-$15. I am guessing this is based on the level of expense of the product itself. For example, Joanna Vargas items have that $10-$15 markup because they are extremely pricy, while some of the Algenist and Scent Bird items have no additional cost. They have a rotation of products so it can vary.
