I remember people posting about opening the Ipsy app and being asked if they wanted a surprise extra item in their Glambag next month… When I opened mine yesterday, there it was! Well, yes! Of course! So, I clicked on it and then really quick, it flashed that I’m getting the F.A.R.A.H. 106F face brush. It really did flash that on the screen really quick. I don’t think I would have caught it all if I hadn’t gotten that brush in my January Glambag. Even if that is the extra item, I’m not gonna be mad about it. I like the brush and I don’t mind having two. One for my travel bag and one at home or just having backups.
Anybody else???

I just wish they’d actually use my beauty profile so I can get use from the foundation or p any face makeup they’re sending me anything but the colors that actually match my skin tone so I unfortunately miss out on the awesome foundations I’ve always wanted to try but couldn’t assures that’s the entire purpose of me having this subscription to begin with and also just one of the reasons I cancelled BOXYCHARM was between not getting anything in my color and then charging me monthly but sending emails claiming they confident successfully charge me for that month basically robbing my bank account and sending me nothing since they lied claiming they dish get my pmt Ipsy is starting to become everything that made me hate boxycharm which scares me because I do absolutely adore Ipsy and I don’t wanna break up with them again I just came back!! And I’m ready excited about the new and improved Ipsy glam bug plus!! Looks like they’ve series pub their game can’t wait to get my feb box my Valentine’s Day treat to myself ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I hear ya! Last year, I found myself in product overload even though I give a lot away and donate a lot. We were planning our 10 year anniversary trip and I started looking at my spending and what I’m getting out of it. I canceled or paused every sub except Ipsy. Ipsy is the only one I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth out of even if I only keep one item. I set somethings in my profile to match me, and the rest to match my daughter. My niece still gets a lot too.
I did take the time to look at all of the items available for this month and, Meh… They could have done a little better, but not too much with what there was.
I have written in regarding my bags NOT matching if it happens a couple of months in a row. The last time I did that was in November and it’s probably one of the rudest emails I have ever written. I basically told them that they should feel lucky that “we’re” still here… I’ve left other subs and kept Ipsy, but I can change that just like a whole lot of other people have…

Tanya L Allsbrook

I haven’t seen that yet.

I cannot believe the glam bag plus bag is so ugly while the other two are so cute.

Michelle

I just joined January 13th and already had issues with them saying they didn’t charge my card and they did for Jan bag! Finally got it fixed! Not too good starting out huh!? Wonder why they don’t give any free items for first time people?? Hope I don’t have any more problems. Haven’t even got my first bag! Ugh! 👎

Reply ButtonReply

Candace

I cancelled for 2 years due to them charging my account promptly every month tweet sending that email stating they couldn’t successfully charge for that month so inevitably I got nothing regardless of having fairly paid in full now this month not only did they not send my glam bag they are sending my add on order in pieces so I have no idea if I’ll get everything I purchased their customer care team is junk so you never get answers to why your being robbed it’s the most frustrating sub service in ever right next to boxycharm who also takes your money but send you nothing and terrible customer care these companies need to step IT up considering the money they’re getting from us every faithful month😒

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

I renewed my regular bag on January 2nd. Of course, I was charged immediately, but my bag was never shipped. When I emailed them I was told they were out of January bags (on the 2nd!) and I would receive my February bag, no additional charge. I’m pretty sure I’ll be charged again, but we will see.

Tater

Wonder what choices will be for next month? When do those options come out? I can’t remember.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah A

You can do add-ons every month on the 2nd. Also, the “pick an item” for February is on the 22nd. Two days away. You can find all these dates, every month, right on your IPSY landing page.

Reply ButtonReply

Tater

Ahh Thank You!! I don’t know how I’ve never seen that or noticed it was on the timeline. 🙈

Dawna

I’ve noticed the comments about their being only 5 shades of foundation. I could not agree more that there really should be more shade options. Even though I am medium to tan skin toned, none of these will work for me either. I’m always mixing my own shade except for maybe two months out of the year.
Ipsy is not paying for these samples. Period!!! If you read their business model, it clearly states that. Ipsy does contact companies and vise versa. It’s whatever they can get companies send them.
That doesn’t mean that they aren’t purchasing items at a serious discount for rewards points items and offers, but it’s pretty clear that the items that go in the Glambags are not purchased by Ipsy.
Ipsy needs to ask for a broader range of shades.
The thought that February is black history month crossed my mind as well. If Ipsy can seem to cater to other celebratory months, why can’t the do February this way and make a lot of the products geared towards darker skin?
Some people had a cow over Ipsy celebrating June with “rainbow” bags and they were not actually rainbows. Which was a little disappointing.
If there are brands, products, ideas, etc., that anybody would like to see in a Glambag, Ipsy wants to hear from you! I’m definitely going to be writing a polite and business like email and asking that it be forwarded up the line to the powers that be…
Our family looks like a rainbow. Genetic, blended family, adoption, marriages… 💕

You make a lot of great points that I hadn’t thought of. Thanks for posting, I’ll be emailing them as well now.

Ipsy has a lot of job opportunities available right now…

Angela

These are only the first few spoilers for the regular glam bag there will be lots more coming! I don’t have my January boxes yet from Ipsy but Boxycharm killed it this month for real! I got three base boxes and two premium boxes and got everything I wanted Too Faced diamond highlighter and Palm Springs eyeshadow Ace Beaute eyeshadow palette Grande mascara and watermelon mask from Glow glow Recipe and the other skincare I wanted! Guess the Boxycharm gods were on my side this month!

Pam

Ehhh I might have to pause this month… Womp Womp

Laurence

I’m actually really looking forward to this! I see a lot of frustration about getting similar items every month, but since I’m just starting to get back into makeup and own very little, it’s ideal for me to get some basics (for example, I don’t even have a black eyeliner, haha). We’ll see how I feel after I already have a lot of stuff, but fortunately I have a younger sister who would probably be glad to take extras off my hands.

I guess for subscription boxes it must be a bit of a balancing act between putting in items that are new and exciting vs familiar items that are going to be useful for the largest percentage of people; either way, someone will be dissatisfied, but after all, that’s the nature of any business. If y’all could change anything about it, what would you want? Like, some fun coloured eyeliners instead of all black all the time? More indie brands? Funky weird things to try out? Or like, the ability to actually completely opt out of a type of product? (For myself, I do not ever paint my nails, so nail polish would be useless to me and I would love to know I won’t receive any.)

dia

Wonderful attitude 👍
Everyone should go into sub boxes with the understanding that some boxes will be incredible and some months will suck dead goat balls, and that’s okay, because the point of these boxes is to allow the subscriber to try new brands and formulas and perhaps discover a new favorite lipgloss or HG moisturizer.
I’m often horrified by some of the negative comments here. One woman said she hated a brand so much she smashed her products with a hammer! People who expect sub boxes to be able to cater precisely to what they want should just buy their products at Ulta or Macy’s.

cheryl s zaccone

So true Dia!

Crystal

I truly dont understand. I have loved every box since i joined recently. June 2019. Ipsy and BoxyCharm I have loved every month. And if there is anything wrong Ipsy responded to me quick and fixed the problem. BoxyCharm replied quickly to email. The continued to update me even if there was no update but just reassuring me they are working on it and letting me know I am not being forgotten. They have always came thru when fixing any issue. It may not end up being a immediately mailed product replacement. It may take time. But they are good on their word.

Ugh but the line I hate the most is:
Influencers are the only ones getting the good boxes and we just get the left overs. Or anything along the lines that BoxyCharm sends influencers free PR boxes with better items then the paid for boxes regular people actually hand money for. That’s so not the case. I am not an influencer. I am not known like an influencer. I am unable to make a big deal showing off the same exact products that the influencers got if not better items I did get also. People complaining with this reasoning just isnt aware what anyone else but influencers get. It really just makes me laugh seeing how many times people say this. Usually on IG on BoxyCharms posts. Anyways… I Love every box i have received from all companies since June 2019

HeatherF

If you email support @ Ipsy dot com, you can ask to be opted out of nail polish completely. I was for the past two years or so? I never got one at all. I just lifted the opt out in case I was missing out on bags that were a 4/5 match for me minus the polish.

Reply ButtonReply

Tater

I’m opted out on all lip products and this month I got a lip product. So frustrating. I love nail polish and never receive it.

Crystal

Thank you for sharing. Its great to know. I wasnt aware of this either.

Laurence

That’s good to know – I may do that! Thank you!

Victoria

Your energy is so positive and cute. You can email Ipsy and opt out of up to 2 categories. For instance, I’m opted out of brushes and eyeshadows.

Reply ButtonReply

Crystal

Good to know. I had no clue we could. That’s great. Thank you so much for sharing that.

Laura

FIVE shades of foundation? 🙄 ugh. Not to mention that Ipsy could probably craft a life size TOWN out of all of those single Balm shadows.
I just unpaused after two months and sadly this looks like more of the same old crap.

Reply ButtonReply

cheryl s zaccone

I don’t foundation samples are meant for color matching as much as seeing if you like the formula and coverage. If I like that in a sample, I normally go to Sephora or whomever carries that brand and get a sample color match. It’s a good way to try a new foundation. I just resubbed to Ipsy. I think the BALM makes great eyeshadows as I have gotten samples in the past. That color is so pretty.

Reply ButtonReply

Crystal

I agree100% and had the same exact complaint. The brand has so many more to choose from so I dont get why only 5 are options. SMH

Reply ButtonReply

tazzywazzy07

With my luck what ever I like in the spoilers won’t be in my bag as usual, I like the bag because it’s cute but I have a box full of stuff from Ipsy that I haven’t used , and it sucks , I’m paying 12 bucks a month for 1 or 2 items , I plan to cancel …. but they keep pulling me back in … what’s a girl to do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Reply ButtonReply

Crystal

Idk if this has been brought up yet but really Ipsy just 5 shades for the Pur Love Your Selfie Foundation??? Maybe i am not co sidering shades in the right category but there is 1 shade maybe 2 no just 1 shade for darker skin then tanned skin. This is pathetic and ridiculous. Come on. Do better. This is so awful women of color are not taken into consideration and have items included in the box that works for them. Just awful. I am a medium light shade so it is not a problem I face directly but I do feel for any women of color. Its just wrong. Either offer a wide shade range of a product or dont do it at all. Period. Make products you offer something that everyone can try no matter skin tone. This shouldnt have to be said. Guess i need to send this in an email as i doubt Ipsy will ever see this. I mean is it just me? Or does anyone else feel this way? Am i making a problem where there isnt one?

Reply ButtonReply

Monica

Crystal- I agree. I’m surprised this isn’t mentioned more often. I’m a woman of color and I have a lighter skin tone and the shades they send out are even to light for me. I prefer not to get foundation, concealer from Ipsy because I know it will not match my skin tone.

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

That Put Foundation has 100 shades!

Reply ButtonReply

Dawna

Right?!

Angela

I mean Pur Foundation

SquirrelyGirl

I think we could all find something that we aren’t being included in (for example: I am a strawberry blonde with blonde eyelashes and brows. I have never once received a brow product from any sub that has worked for me. Also, the majority of skin products are too warm for my cool toned skin) Darker skin tones definitely have a harder time with mainstream subs, but complexion products are also fairly new to the majority of subs and I would assume that they will work on getting a wider range at some point (Boxy had 15 shades to choose from this month for the Becca foundation). The good news, in the meantime, is that there are subs that cater to demographics that can feel left out. For WOC there is Cocotique, Melanin Bliss, Essence, Onyx box etc. Tribe Beauty Box is also WOC owned and Billi does a great job of including products for a wide range of people. For redheads, there is “How To Be a Redhead.”

Reply ButtonReply

Stacy

But that isn’t necessarily Ipsys fault, that is what PUR offered them. These sub boxes don’t go out looking to buy specific items. They get them cheap by buying bulk items which are usually items a company is trying to offload cause it’s not selling, or by striking a deal with a company to be featured but usually the company decides what is given. Lots of skin tones are being left out not just people of color. There are no fair, no cool tone, it’s basically all medium golden tones but that seems to be the norm for all sub boxes not just Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

kparmer85

Yes, leaving out all of these shades for a whole range of subscribers is wrong. Especially with a foundation that has 100 shades. I’m fair and often Have the same type of troubles with foundation shades in subscription boxes. I have really wanted to try this foundation and am excited either way to try it out. I know the shade will be much to dark but if I like the formula I will order my correct shade. I do think it’s hard to accommodate everyone’s skintone within a sub box but you have to give PUR credit for having the only foundation with that extensive of a shade range

Crystal

To me WOC means all shades of skin tones. Not one special one. I meantioned the darker at start because that is the first thing you notice. Imagining companies and all the variations they have compared to 5, yes I get that there is a ton of people being left out which is what i mean with Women of Color.

Also you do have a good point with possibly better deals for certain shades. I have seen locally in stores certain colors being clearanced outbecause they are not selling. But that doesnt make it okay. That doesnt make it okay. Thats not a good enough excuse. With the money theyre saving on certain tones spend it on the other shades. At least to have more than just 5 shade variations. If they cant afford to do it equally across the board do you really think thats okay to treat people differently and offer better products especially with wanted products they just cater to those 5 skin tones they can get a deal on. That’s okay? That seems wrong in so many different ways. Do everything equally across the board or dont do it. Seems simple. I am okay giving up the chance to get foundations because they are unable to treat all subscribers equally by providing equal products. Maybe its just me wanting to have every single person no matter skin tone to be treated equal and offer the same products regardless of skin tone.

bunnygirlbrem

It’s the same for women who are fair…there is rarely a foundation, concealer, or BB cream for us.

Reply ButtonReply

Crystal

You are right. I did see quite a few people saying the lightest shade offered was too dark. I shouldnt have only mentioned darker skin tones but I am just use to it.

Alice

Yep. Everything is too dark. Range issue goes both ways.

Mimosa

Hi Crystal, nope, you’re not alone. Totally agree shade ranges should include alternatives for everyone!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I want the IT primer! I just bought some but I’d live to get more 😊 Not really impressed with the rest though and really hoping they don’t send me the eye liner.

Reply ButtonReply

CJ

So were the winter spoilers for next winter? Like end of this year?

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

They should be in March which is still winter.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley C

I’m liking the kvoss highlighter! I bought a lip set from ipsys $5 bundle sale that had a kvoss lip treatment in it and it’s super nice! So I have high hopes for the brand! Nothing else is jumping out at me but I’m not canceling, I’ve liked my last couple boxes even though I wasn’t crazy about the spoilers 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Wait a minute. $5 bundle sale? How did I miss that?

Reply ButtonReply

Emma

When you do product choice, once you get the confirmation, there are usually a bunch of $5 bundles (and some more expensive ones, but I forget the price point) to select from. The $5 bundles usually have two items, and the bundles all get sent separately from your bag.

Dawna

I would love to get the IT Cosmetics primer!

Reply ButtonReply

Sherri H

Me too! I am hoping that it is either a choice product or add on! I would like to get the Foundation too!

Reply ButtonReply

Dawna

I got the full size foundation as an add on. I don’t like it as much as I do their CC Cream.

Kelly S.

I just said on a review no more liquid eyeliners! But I’ll take this one from Tarte! Dang it. Now you bring an eyeliner I want. SMDH. These are not bad spoilers. I’m pretty happy with them to be honest. Bring it on Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

JulesCase

If you want to opt out of a specific product you need to contact customer service to do it; they get thousands and thousands of reviews for each monthly product so that isn’t the best place for the request since there’s no way they can possibly read all the reviews and alter your profile based on a review comment.

I successfully opted out of 2 kinds of products through customer service.

Good luck!

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I’ve only been with Ipsy two months and I already want to skip this month, that is saying something 😔

Reply ButtonReply

Dot

Skip again for 4th month , BC killing it !!
I’ll keep my Ipsy regular just bc I do enjoy the add ons , eve though of late they haven’t been great :/ miss old IPSY

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

I got that cleanser in a recent Beauty Fix box and like it a lot – I’d be happy to get more. The Balm blush looks pretty; their packaging is always great. And believe it or not, I actually have need for a liquid liner, so I’d be happy to see this one in my bad as well. I was going to skip my regular bag for Feb, but these spoilers are making me seriously reconsider.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

No, please no, and Oh Gosh No! But I have ordered something with Ipsy points, so I need to get the bag in order to get my item, right? Ugh!

However, I don’t yet know which item I will be able to choose, and I do kind of like the bag, so I guess I will survive.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

Oh cool, another black eyeliner. 😒

Reply ButtonReply

Candace

I feel ya! I have give my adult daughter my liquid eyeliner bc it smudges all over my wrinkled eyelids lol not flattering for a 40 year old woman anymore🤦🏼‍♀️ But she gets use from them at least just wish I could get something useful to myself occasionally

Reply ButtonReply

Cassie

Nothing is speaking to me unfortunately even though I’ve been super happy the last three months. Also unfortunately not going to skip because of the free item I’m supposed to get.
Maybe my low expectations will lead to something great lol. The bag is super cute.

Reply ButtonReply

Monica

I received the Sexy Kitten liner a few years ago in my Ipsy bag and I love it however I don’t want it in a liquid form. I don’t like liquid eyeliner and that’s all Ipsy has been sending me recently.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

I resubbed to the regular bag for this month’s spoilers and hated the samples I got. Also didn’t get the opportunity to purchase the samples I did want, they weren’t available to me :(. These spoilers look promising; but I’m probably not going to get any of the ones I want.

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

That last thing that I need is another black eyeliner, but that’s the kind I use every day. Never thought I’d be hoping for eyeliner in my bag!

Reply ButtonReply

Randie

Still not impressed. Probably going to skip, which is too bad because I really like the bag itself.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Same feeling on this bag. I don’t think I can skip because I bought the annual sub. I don’t like any of the spoilers. Where is the skincare?

Reply ButtonReply
