GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full-size, and the value is usually good too.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

GlossyBox December 2019 Review

Our first item was a promo card for HelloFresh. Marne tackled everything you need to know about this popular meal kit in her all-encompassing HelloFresh review.

Nailmedic Rejuvenator Nail and Cuticle Energizer, 0.5 fl oz -  Retail Value $7.99

How pretty is this cuticle oil? I never thought I would say that. I am a sucker for pretty things! I am also a little confused as to how well this formula works though because those pink and purple sections really don't want to blend, even when I shake the bottle really hard. It seems to go back to separating before I can get the cap off. It does feel like I am applying more than just pink water to my nail bed though, but this stuff is much lighter than your average cuticle oil. It is kind of nice because it absorbs much faster than really oily ones and I could still see an improvement. It has a really strong scent that reminds me of shampoo.

Luxie 211 Concealer Brush - Retail Value $12.00

I have become a little bit of a makeup brush hoarder, so as long as the quality is there, I am usually pretty happy with brushes coming in boxes. This one is nice and actually works much better as a lip brush for me since I have larger lips. It would also make a great concealer brush too, so if you are someone who likes to actually use items as they are intended, you will be pleased!

LASplash Gatsby Lashes - Retail Value $12.99

Marne and I recently started an esthetics program together and makeup application is a large part of our education. I don't usually use falsies, but I am glad to see them in this box because I will want lots of pairs around to practice with over the next few months! These aren't as super dramatic as most I have seen in boxes, but I actually love how long and wispy they are because they resemble lash extensions. Hopefully, as I become better and better at applying them, I might want to wear them more often too.

Steve Laurant 'Cherry' Lip Gloss, 0.12 oz - Retail Value $22.00

This pot of lippie is very pretty! It feels like a true retro cherry red, but with a little bit of shimmer. The color is bright but sheer, though you can add more for better coverage. I would recommend using a lip brush with this because it is rather messy. Though I loved the shade, I wish the formula had more longevity.

Nice balm texture with buildable color.

Realher Ultimate Glow Getter Trio, 7.5 g - Retail Value $28.00

Our final item is a palette with a blush, highlighter, and bronzer inside. I quite like the blush and highlighter and even the bronzer isn't so bold or "bronze" that it scares me. The peachy blush is perfect for a natural flush, and the champagne golden shimmer of the highlighter is universally flattering. Since the bronzer would work on my fair skin, I do wonder if someone with a warmer complexion would like it as much. All apply well when used with a brush, though there is a ton of fallout in the pans left over.

Top to bottom: Blessed, Goddess, and Incredible.

Verdict: GlossyBox has a value of around $83.97 which is good for a $21 box. I thought this box was an improvement over last month for sure. In fact, I pretty much liked everything in here this time! I am excited to add a new brush and another set of lashes to my kit and I think both arrived at a really great time for me personally with school being a new factor in my life for 2020. I also liked the cuticle oil, thought the cherry balm was pretty, and found the palette to be a trio of shades that are really great for my complexion.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I find Glossybox a HUGE disappointment. I am not able to convey in enough words how unfortunate it was that I subscribed and recommend you think twice about even getting one box. If you think one of the products might be interesting find it elsewhere to sample.

All I can say it that last year’s December box was much better for me.

Hmm, made in China or India. No thanks.

Thank you for pointing this out. I never thought about looking at all the pictures to check the country of manufacturer. I always wondered why MSA reviewers show the back of the products, now I understand, feel silly it took me so long to get this.

Don’t feel silly! I think it is also to show the ingredients and, as in the case of the lashes, instructions. It is also just a way to be thorough and show you everything there is to see about the packaging and the product.

Danielle

Meh, I’m glad I didn’t get this box. Rather underwhelming.
