GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full-size, and the value is usually good too.

This is a review of their 2019 Glossybox Limited Edition Holiday Box, which is sadly sold out.

GlossyBox Limited Edition Holiday 2019 Box Review

Included is a fold-out booklet with all the deets on our full-size items!

AHAVA Mineral Body Shaper, 6.8 fl oz - Retail Value $50.00

The first thing I noticed with this product was the pretty amazing rollerball head. I haven't seen one like it before! Basically, this giant tube is filled with a clear gel that squeezes out through a central hole, then you rub your thighs (or wherever you have cellulite or unevenness) for 1-2 minutes while in the shower. You then rinse it off. I didn't notice a huge difference right away, but I feel like this is the sort of thing that could take time. I am ashamed to admit that I don't really give my thighs a ton of attention in terms of exfoliation or things like this product, so I am happy to add it to my routine. At the very least, the rollerball heads have to be good for stimulating skin that I so often overlook. It also feels and smells really nice!

Snow Fox True Luminosity Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $75.00

This is a clear, thinner gel serum that breaks down into more of a liquid with the warmth of your fingers. I was immediately excited about this serum because it contains PAD (Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate) which is something I only read about recently. Basically, it is a derivative of Azelaic acid and should work really well against redness. I have a rather ruddy face and I am always looking for formulas that will reduce redness. It also has caffeine, which perks my face up so nicely in the morning. This is a formula that absorbs quickly while leaving virtually nothing behind, meaning it is great for under makeup during the day.

Onomie Boosting Lip + Cheek Stick in 'Cruz', 8 g - Retail Value $30.00

I am so psyched by this product. I am a multi-stick fanatic! I use products like this on both my cheeks and lips in the summer (when I wear less makeup in general and have a little warmth on my cheeks from the sun) but I reserve them for mostly my lips in the winter. This color is gorgeous! A happy berry pink, but dark enough to make a statement. It is also as sheer or opaque as you want, just customize with swipes. I also absolutely love the pretty palest pink packaging. This is my first product from this brand and I am super into it!

Love at first swipe.

Supersmile Quickee, 4.82 g - Retail Value $18.00

I have sampled this stuff before and I am just not that into it. I think I just really like brushing my teeth! Basically, you apply a dap to your teeth then swipe your tongue across to coat them. It has a minty flavor and the lip balm-esque packaging does make this easy! I just didn't notice that much of a difference in terms of whitening or plaque removal.

NCLA Nail Lacquer in 'Eat Pie, Drink Wine' - Retail Value $16.00

I love this shade of moody berry. It is perfect for the winter months and makes me feel instantly chic. I didn't like the brush at all, but I have extremely small nails, especially since I removed my acrylic overlay. I kind of made a mess of the paint job below, but you can see how pretty the color is. It was a two coater for me, but my nail surface is really uneven right now, which makes it look more spotty than it was in person. It also dried pretty quickly and was shiny.

Yes, I know it looks like a small child painted my nails. Ignore my hack job and just admire the polish instead! 🙂

HALEYS Beauty RE:START Mineral Makeup, 9 g - Retail value $18.00

This powder foundation is (shocker) too warm for me. I was sent the light/medium shade but I would truly need the fair/light shade to make this work. In terms of formula, I do like it. I find powder foundations messier than I prefer, but the coverage here is what I would call medium, and it has a natural satin finish. I just don't see myself ever transitioning to a loose powder foundation.

A bit too warm, but that is pretty par for the course for me.

STARSKIN The Gold Mask VIP - Retail Value $15.00

I was expecting this mask to be gold, but it was actually one of those really thin clingy gel types that aren't super moist, but definitely deliver hydration to your skin. I decided to extend the life of this one to an hour by spritzing rose water on top as it started to feel dry. My skin loved it, and rewarded me with a nice glow and redness reduction.

Verdict: This limited edition GlossyBox has a value of around $222.00 which is wonderful for a $40 box. My three faves are easily the AHAVA body shaper, Snow Fox serum, and that marvelous Onomie multi-stick. These three items alone are worth $155! The nail polish and sheet mask were also both nice, and although I was less crazy about the Supersmile and HALEYS foundation, there was still more than enough value in this box to make it feel extra special.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box is sold out.

Value Breakdown: At $40.00 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • AHAVA Body Shaper $9.01
  • Snow Fox Serum $13.51
  • Onomie Stick $5.41
  • Supersmile Quickee $3.24
  • NCLA Polish $2.88
  • HALEYS Powder Foundation $3.24
  • STARSKIN Sheet mask $2.70

Alternatively, each item in this box has an average cost of $5.74.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve been there with the bad nails after taking acrylics off I have acrylics on and tried to put a fresh coat of polish on and made a mess on that . Had to just go ahead and get a fill/

Megain, I’m loling over here on your nail pic & your comment on how your nails look after applying the polish, because mine ALWAYS look like that after I do my nails. Fortunately, the drawings outside the lines usually fall off by mid-day the next day. 😉 I did my nails two days ago, and look like perfection now… finally! 😀

Thank you for your review! I have a warm skin tone so I’ll hunt for the foundation powder online later. I have the opposite issue as you as I find most products not warm enough. I have started to customize my lipsticks and found that if I start with a warm yellow, it helps. Thanks!

This box was free for me because I have used my points on it. I don’t care for the anti-cellulite gel as it’s just another marketing lie. I hate sheet masks but have a friend who loves them. I will pass the serum to my teenage daughter. I love the lip/cheek stick; the NCLA makes great polishes and this one came just in time to replace my YSL Poivre Noire. The teeth gel was donated. I don’t care for powder foundation.

All in all, last year’s box was better.

Claire, I was able to get the fair / light shade also. Can you tell me if the tone is cool or warm? I haven’t used it yet, and don’t want to if it’s warm, because I know that wouldn’t work for me. Thanks so much for you help!

Jan, I don’t usually wear powder foundation as at my age I prefer a glowy, dewy look. The fair foundation is a cool tone and sinks into my face with a minimal powdery look. I think I will use just a small amount after my regular one. I recommend you give it a try.

Thanks Claire, that helps so much! Like you, at my age I’m afraid that powder type foundations will just accentuate all of my lines and wrinkles. I will take your advice, and apply it lightly following my regular routine. So happy to know that the fair is a cool tone. I always feel so awful if I try a full size of something that I can’t use. I hate to be wasteful. Thanks again!

Claire

Hi Jan, I’ll get back to you on this.:)

Right? I was immediately drawn to it too.

Claire

Thank you Megan. I ended up paying $26 with my glossy points and it is well worth it. I’m sorry you got the medium powder, I was able to opt for the fair one. I’ll be using everything except the Quickee stuff, nail polish and the Ahava. I don’t use Ahava products for ethical reasons. I like to read a review as it is much clearer and informative than the info. card.
