This is a review of the Disney Bedtime Adventure Box for $32.99/month.

Disney Bedtime Adventure Box "Traditional Mickey Mouse" Review

Before we get to the review, I wanted to share some information about the frequency options since they are a bit different. They offer a box-to-box option as well as several prepaid options: quarterly, annual, or custom-scheduled boxes (minimum of two boxes). With the box-to-box plan, you receive a box every other month since it is shipped in 2-month cycles. For the pre-paid subscriptions they are as follows:

“For one-year subscriptions, boxes are delivered monthly. For quarterly subscriptions, one box is delivered every 3 months. For customized schedules, the purchaser selects the months to receive a box.”

Just keep these in mind when choosing your subscriptions! If you know you’d like at least two boxes, it seems like the custom option is the best value and offers the most flexibility. Now let’s get into the review!

disney bedtime adventure size chart

When you first start the sign-up process, you are first asked to provide your child's name. Once you enter that information, you choose your child's size. Sizes 3-10 are available, and if you are unsure of what size to order, you can check out the size chart.

The next step is to choose your character for the month. This month the boys' fit pajamas included Mickey Mouse, Traditional Mickey Mouse, and Spider-Man. The girls' fit pajamas included Minnie Mouse, Traditional Minnie Mouse, and Frozen.

How cool is this box?! The top flap is a reward chart for going to bed well, and the inside of the box includes an invitation to join Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy on an exciting adventure! The instructions are to read the enclosed book, mix up the activity cards, select one at random from each category, and play out the instructions on each card - more on that below! The only problem I have with this, is I ordered Star Wars and I received Mickey Mouse?

Bedtime Activity Cards

Next, we have the activity cards that were talked about in the above mission instructions. We receive activities that correlate with the theme each and every month. These colorful cards are Mickey and the Beanstalk themed, are made out of bright cardstock, and feature 5 different categories of nighttime routine items. We are instructed to cut them apart and choose a different colored card to create a new and improved bedtime routine! Tonight the boys chose:

  • Go for a dip in the babbling brooks of Happy Valley. Pretend you are one of the birds and sing a happy tune to cheer up Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy.
  • Farmer Mickey Mouse is super quick on his feet. Can you get into your PJs as quickly as he got away from the giant?
  • Let's get silly and pretend you're using a giant toothbrush to clean your giant teeth.
  • Choose two storybooks to take with you to Happy Valley - one to make the Golden Harp sing and the other to make the giant fall asleep. Which one will you read tonight?
  •  Close your eyes and imagine the Golden Harp is playing a beautiful song just for you. What would it sound like?

While we were disappointed they weren't Star Wars, we have a really great time with these nightly activities, and it makes bedtime a lot more enjoyable!

Mickey Mouse and the Beanstalk Sticker Sheet

Per usual, we received a page of stickers.  This 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of Mickey Mouse and the Beanstalk stickers are easy to peel and stick great. We received 9 different scenes depicted from the book, and while they were both disappointed they didn't receive the character they chose this month, they are excited to create their own Mickey and the Beanstalk renditions.

Mickey and the Beanstalk - Retail Value $4.99

I remember reading "Jack and the Beanstalk" as a child, but I don't recall reading the Mickey Mouse version, so I was very intrigued! (Even though it was supposed to be a Star Wars book....) I love Golden Books, and this story was extremely cute! I love how this story is in large font and easy to read. Hank was able to read it to me all by himself, so he was very proud! This was the first time he has read about Mickey and the Beanstalk and he found it to be extremely suspenseful! Who stole the harp? Will the farmers get to eat? What are they going to do with magic beans? Will the giant catch them?! We had to read the book from start to finish to find out of course!

Mickey Mouseketeer Pajamas (Size 5) - Retail Value $17.95

In my last review, I noted that I didn't receive the correct size in the Star Wars pajamas, but after contacting customer service I was assured they fixed the glitch in the system that was changing the sizes, so I kept the size 5 for Charlie and I ordered the Star Wars pajamas again in size 8 to see if each month they are the same, or different. Well, look at what we received: Mickey Mouse in size 5. I quadruple checked that I had Star Wars Size 8 marked, and was assured it was showing up like that by customer service, and I received not only the incorrect size but the incorrect character as well. Talk about disappointing! On a positive note, these pajamas are really cute, the mostly grey top is adorned with red and grey stripes with the slogan "Original Mouseketeer" and a set of Mickey's ears on the front. The pants are also striped, with black cuffs to tie together the top and bottom. I've been really bummed that the last 3 months our orders have been inaccurate, and the company has been extremely hard to get a hold of!

Here is Hank reading his new book. You can't tell by this photo, but he was so bummed Charlie got another pair of pajamas when it was supposed to be his turn!

The Verdict: This Disney Bedtime Adventure Box was cute if you happened to order the Mickey Mouse box. Because they sent us the incorrect size and character I was really disappointed. It was Hank's turn to receive the pajamas again, and they messed it up again. Not only that, but when I have logged into the website, I found it to be extremely slow, and hard to log on to. I have even tried calling customer service again but found a long wait time and assurance that I would get what I ordered, and then did not. The box itself is really fun and a great addition to our nighttime routine, but if you need to change sizes, I hope you have better luck than I did!

If I were to go online and purchase the items individually for this box, I would have to pay $4.99 for the book, and $17.95 for the pajamas. That total is about $12 short of the promised value. While I would count the stickers and the activity cards as a valuable asset to this box, I feel they should be bonus items and not counted toward the value. I did receive a $10 off $50 coupon for the Disney shop website last month, but I don't feel that should be counted toward the value either. I hope in the future they include a more expensive pair of pajamas or a small toy to bring the value closer to their promised $35.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this Mickey Mouse box is still available!

they also have sizing issues when you change a size. I changed my daughters size in the princess box and for the rest of the subscription (3 boxes) got the smaller size and had to contact them each time. I was pretty annoyed about the extra effort it required for me to send the wrong size dress back, and my daughter was really disappointed she couldn’t wear it. The first time I couldn’t send it back because she took the tag off and put it on anyway. It would have been nice if they included a little extra something to make up for it. It should be fun to open together but instead I had to hide it from her and open it to check the size so she wouldn’t be disappointed.
Our bedtime box this month was missing the book.
On a side note the stickers in the bedtime boxes are bath tub stickers, so that’s pretty cool.

I feel so sad for your little guy that he didn’t get his PJs! 😕 This box really doesn’t seem like a good value, especially with the terrible customer service!
