Disney Bedtime Adventure Box "Star Wars" Review

Before we get to the review, I wanted to share some information about the different frequency options since they are a bit different. They offer a box-to-box option as well as several prepaid options: quarterly, annual, or custom-scheduled boxes (minimum of two boxes). With the box-to-box plan, you receive a box every other month since it is shipped in 2-month cycles. For the pre-paid subscriptions they are as follows:

“For one-year subscriptions, boxes are delivered monthly. For quarterly subscriptions, one box is delivered every 3 months. For customized schedules, the purchaser selects the months to receive a box.”

Just keep these in mind when choosing your subscriptions! If you know you’d like at least two boxes, it seems like the custom option is the best value and offers the most flexibility. Now let’s get into the review!

disney bedtime adventure size chart

When you first start the sign-up process, you are first asked to provide your child's name. Once you enter that information, you choose your child's size. Sizes 3-10 are available, and if you are unsure of what size to order, you can check out the size chart.

For reference, Charlie is 4 1/2 years old, 43 1/2" tall, 40 pounds, and I ordered him a size 5.

The next step is to choose your character for the month. This month the boys' fit pajamas included Mickey Mouse, Holiday Mickey Mouse, and Star Wars. The girls' fit pajamas included Minnie Mouse, Holiday Minnie Mouse, and Frozen.

How cool is this box?! The top flap is a reward chart for going to bed well, and the inside of the box includes an invitation to join the Resistance! The instructions are to read the enclosed book, mix up the activity cards, select one at random from each category, and play out the instructions on each card - more on that below!

Bedtime Activity Cards

Next, we have the activity cards that were talked about in the above mission instructions. We receive activities that correlate with the theme each and every month. These Star Wars themed, colorful cards are made out of bright cardstock and feature 5 different categories of nighttime routine items. It instructs us to cut them apart and choose 1 card in each category to perform every night as part of our bedtime routine. Tonight my kids chose:

  •  The Resistance fights the evil First Order. Now it's your turn to fight off evil dirt and germs.
  •  Disguise yourself as you sneak onto a First Order starship.
  •  You've been recruited to help fight the evil germs hiding between your teeth.
  •  Train your mind like a Jedi master. Read, you must.
  •  You've heard of jumping to hyperspace- now it's time to jump to hypersleep. Beat your last sleep record.

These nightly activities turn our regular night-time routine into a really fun mission! The kids get excited and it truly sparks their imaginations!

Star Wars Sticker Sheet

The next item we received is this 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of Star Wars stickers. We received 9 different stickers that are large in size, show an assortment of characters, and peel off easily. My kids are sticker addicts and love creating works of art with them, so they will definitely go to good use! It's also fun to listen to them describing their art- these stickers truly help engage their creativity!

Star Wars: We Are the Resistance Golden Book - Retail Value $4.99

Like I have mentioned before, I am a big fan of Golden Books, so these are truly welcome into my collection! My kids are really starting to get into Star Wars, so they were extremely excited to receive this book. I love the cartoon artistry this book displays, and how they have incorporated so many characters into this book. Charlie was especially excited to see that BB-8 made it into the book. My personal favorite characters are Chewbacca and the porgs- they are just so cute! This book was easy to read, and a great introduction to Star Wars. We can't wait to check out the rest of the Star Wars Golden Book series!

Disney Star Wars BB-8 Pajamas (Size 5) - Retail Value $19.95

I am loving these BB-8 pajamas! They look so sharp with the bright orange and black design on the white background. Charlie truly felt like BB-8 wearing these! These 100% cotton pajamas are not flame resistant, so they need to fit snugly. Charlie usually wears a size 5, so these are pretty true to size. I do feel I will need to up his size soon just so he doesn't outgrow them overnight. I love the fact that these jammies have cuffs on the arms and legs so they can wear them even if they are a tad long. The only problem I have with these pajamas has nothing to do with the product itself but the ordering process. I actually ordered a size 8 in these for my older son, Hank. To our dismay, when we opened the box this month we received a size 5. I am 200% sure I changed the size and character this month and received the correct character but not the right size. I contacted customer service, and they apologized and were aware of the size issue and reported that tech service had fixed the glitch. They offered to send me a return label to do an exchange, but because it was supposed to be Charlie's choice next month and Star Wars is still available, I will just order an 8 for Hank for January. I pray we don't get another size 5, and I'm kind of interested to see if they get the same exact pajamas!

Hank was at school today, so Charlie had to read the new book himself. Although it went a little differently in his version, he enjoyed the actual story as well!

The Verdict: This Disney Bedtime Adventure Box was really cute! My kids get so fired up to see the big Disney box in our mail! The curation of this box is really fun. We really enjoy how well they stick to the theme throughout all of the products. The activity cards make our boring bedtime routine a lot more fun. The pajamas were exactly what we dreamed of, but as I said above, not in the correct size. Customer service was easy to contact, and they were very sorry about the mix-up. I did want to mention, the first box I received sent a coupon code for $10 off of a $50 purchase through the Disney Shop a few weeks after the box was delivered which is suppose to add to the value of the box, but I did not receive that last month.

If I were to go online and purchase the items individually for this box, I would have to pay $4.99 for the book, and $19.95 for the pajamas. That total is still $10 short of the promised value. While I would count the stickers and the activity cards as a valuable asset to this box, I can't say they are worth $10. Even if I were to receive the $10 off $50 coupon, I find that a little disheartening. I would be much more satisfied with a $10 off a $10 purchase or another item in the box. I have noticed some months come with a more expensive pair of pajamas or a limited edition book, so hopefully next month we will see a higher value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this Star Wars box is still available!

Kind of sexist choices. My girl likes Mickey but thinks Minnie is weird. I’d be interested in this, but I don’t like the boy/girl options. Hopefully they take this into consideration in the future.

Really too bad they don’t have a girl’s star wars option….if Rey is the main character, why is that not on the table????
