Birchbox Limited Edition: Hello Hygge Review

This box smells fantastic and is super cute. Let's see what's inside!

Here is the info sheet for the products included.

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser, 1 fl oz/30 ml - Estimated Value $7.60 (Buy the 5 oz full size for $35)

This cleanser is gentle, non-foaming, and has almost no smell, which ticks off a few of my preferences – but it's just not that great. The consistency is runny, so it will come out of the tube fast if you aren't careful. It doesn't remove all of my regular mascara on its own even if I cleanse twice. For this (full-size) price point, I've tried many cleansers that are better.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, 1 fl oz/30 ml - Retail Value $22

This feels like a luxe product to me! The size is great, and the glass jar and metal lid are so pretty. This mask can be used as an overnight mask or as a quick moisturizing mask. The light pink liquid reminds me of play slime when I scoop it out of the jar. It stays slippery for a few minutes on my face – which gives it the perfect amount of glide for a facial massage – but dries down so it doesn't get all over my pillow. It has a slight cooling sensation and feels great after a hot shower. Oh, and it smells like watermelon candy. Yum!

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt, 75 ml/2.7 fl oz - Retail Value $19

I love a good scalp scrub, especially during cold months when my scalp gets extra dry or flaky. This one is a little tricky to use, though. The chunks of salt are large, which makes them hard to get through my hair and to my scalp. Then, they tend to fall to the shower floor and are uncomfortable to step on. I do like the fresh, spa-like scent and that my hair and scalp feel like they got a deep clean after rinsing. Just be prepared to follow up with a deep condition after.

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower, 2 packs - Estimated Value $6.86 (Buy 7 sets of patches for $24)

These little silicone patches are supposed to soothe and relax puffy, exhausted eyes. They stick really well compared to other patches I've tried. I do feel a slight tingling sensation when I wear them, but I don't really notice any improvement under my eyes. I can't see myself purchasing more of these, but they were fun to try.

STARSKIN® Sunset Strips™ 3-Step Advanced Pore Cleansing Expert System, 1 3-step pack of strips - Estimated Value $5 (Buy 2 sets of strips for $10)

These strips are intense! I don't really struggle with blackheads, but if you do, these might be just your thing. The pack is a set of three strips that prep the skin, remove blackheads, and refine pores. They really pull when removed. You need about 35 minutes to go through the process.

HUM Nutrition Beauty zzZz™ Supplements, 30 tablets - Retail Value $10

Even with all the relaxation in the world, sleep can sometimes be elusive. Each of these tablets has 3 mg of melatonin and 10 mg of vitamin B-6, which are both essential to the body's natural sleep cycle. Taking 1 of these tablets 20 minutes before bedtime can help give you that sleepy feeling that makes drifting off easier.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Treatment Masque, 200 ml/6.7 fl oz - Retail Value $16

So, after doing a deep clean with the scalp scrub (above), my hair needs some intense nourishment. This stuff is awesome! I slather it on, comb it through, and let it sit while I shower and shave. Not only does it have the right amount of slip for detangling, but it also leaves my hair feeling silky and moisturized. And it smells so good!

JUARA Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel, 59 ml/2 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.67 (Buy the 12 oz full size for $28)

If you've ever tried any of Juara's products, you know that they smell amazing. This body wash is no exception. It cleanses skin without leaving it feeling dry and tight and without any feeling of residue. I think it's also a great alternative to shave gel.

DERMA E Arnica Warming Sore Muscle Rub, 113 g/4 oz - Retail Value $13.99

This may be one of the best feeling muscle rubs I've tried. The creamy consistency allows for a minute or two of massage/rubbing in before it sinks in, leaving a soft but not greasy finish on the skin. It's really minty and has an immediate cooling sensation that warms up after a few minutes, invigorating tired muscles and soothing aches.

Daily Concepts Daily Beauty Headband - Retail Value $12

I use headbands like this every day while doing my face routine. This one is cute, soft, and easy to wash.

Fourth Ray Beauty The Lightweight Hydrator, 60 ml/2 fl oz - Retail Value $12

The Lightweight Hydrator is an exceptionally simple moisturizer whose star ingredient is Squalane. The formula is lightweight and feels instantly hydrating. I think those with normal to oily skin would love it on its own, especially during warmer months. For my dry skin, it's not moisturizing enough on its own and needs to be layered under a richer moisturizer. One pet peeve about the packaging is the lack of an ingredient list (although it is available online).

Birchbox You-Time Candle in Spiced Rose - Retail Value $15

This couldn't truly be a hygge box without a candle! I love that Birchbox matched this packaging to the main box. Spiced Rose is exactly what you'd imagine the scent to be.

Verdict: Value-wise, Birchbox promised a total value of $154, and I calculate a value of $144.12. That's pretty close. Luckily, I like most of the products included and had a great unboxing experience, so the value is there for me. I'm glad they release a full list of included items so you can make sure you like everything before spending $60. Overall, the stand out feature of this kit is the array of awesome scents and luxe feel of many of the items. I think Birchbox did a good job of curating a hygge experience with skincare and body care, plus a few comfy extras.

Can you still get this kit if you order today? Yes, this exclusive kit is still available for purchase!

I ordered this box I love the products inside! I got it for 38 dollars which is very reasonable.
Out of curiosity how does one use a sleep make I feel it will get all over my pillow since I move in my sleep is it possible to just use them for less time?

Oh! And I thought I’d add that I also move around a ton in my sleep (sleeping on my back is the most uncomfortable position for me), and I never have any issues with getting a sleeping mask all over my pillow. 🙂

I just saw this thank you so much!

I use all of my sleep masks as I would a night time moisturizer. Some will sink in fairly quickly like a moisturizer, but others will sort of “sit” on the skin like a balm would, but eventually sink in after an hour or so. Of course, it ultimately depends on how much you apply too. I’m not heavy handed with my sleep masks… I just apply the same amount as if it were a typical moisturizer. 🙂

I got this box for 50% off last month. It’s an AMAZING value and was a no-brainer for me since I regularly use and buy the HUM melatonin, the Christophe Robin salt scrub, and Ceramic Slip cleanser. The Juara body wash was super nice, the candle has AMAZING throw (almost too strong), and the headband is really useful. That NatureLab Tokyo hair mask was the standout surprise – I have bleached hair and it’s super, super moisturizing. I didn’t love the Watermelon Glow’s texture and the exfoliating (it has AHA iirc) stung a bit on my winter skin, but will revisit in the spring.

I will definitely use it all. Overall, I was very happy with this – I liked everything I’ve used and will probably actually use it all eventually. I could have sworn that it also came with a silk sleep mask (which I have also been using), but that might have been part of another kit.

Wish the Bombas code worked….

It was 50% off in December, and the code for the Bombas socks worked then. I sent it to my BFF for Christmas, and she was overwhelmed by everything she received: the Hygge set, the Bombas socks and sleep mask, and the small samples Birchbox throws in… all for $30.

I was tempted to buy this a couple of times during last week’s deep discount sales, but I have soooo much backlog of product, & there were juuuust enough things that I did not want in this set. One of the major deciding factors was that I dislike rose scent, so instead of it being an ‘I won’t use that’ feeling, it’s an ‘I actively do not want that’ feeling regarding the rose candle. I envisioned receiving the box in the mail, being so excited to open up the package, and then getting hit with a wave of rose smell. 😂 So I passed on buying it.

I think we’re about the only people who dislike the rose scent. Unless it’s an actual rose, I’m not into the scent. At all.

Got mine 50% off and used my credit for not liking any of the birch boxes for Jan. Ended up being under $15.

I agree that’s the best thing about BB. $60 for those items is a waste of $$.

The code Socksandsleep does not seem to work with this promotion?

Actually this box is 40% off, so it’s only $40. Also, they are having a huge sale where tons of their stuff is 25,30 & 40% off. Don’t look if you don’t want to be tempted, I bought some stuff last week and it was a hell of a deal.
