Birchbox 'Out Of The Blue' Curated Box #3 Review - January 2020
This month's Birchbox came with a single info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.
MALIN+GOETZ Revitalizing Eye Gel, 0.10 oz. - Estimated Value $8.40 (Buy a full-size 0.5 oz. for $42.00)
This eye cream by MALIN+GOETZ (hi- I love your typographical aesthetic) is super soothing and has a nice middle-ground consistency to it. Not too thin, not too thick. I'm doing my best to try and use more eye creams over longer periods of time to give them a fair shake, so I've been using this more than I would in the past. While I never expect immediate results, it does feel like a breath of fresh air, especially if my eyes are puffy. The verdict is still out for "brightening" though.
R+Co High Dive Moisture + Shine Creme, 0.5 oz. - Estimated Value $2.90 (Buy a full-size 5 oz. for $29.00)
Oh yea- this moisture cream is amazing! I've noticed after a month and a half of using hers, my hair is feeling slightly dry, so I just smooth this wonderful smelling cream on the ends of my damp hair before blow-drying. The results are making my strands shiny, soft, and a lot less dry and frizzy looking. This really gives my hair a sleeker look.
too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Moisturizer, 0.35 oz. - Estimated Value $7.16 (Buy a full-size 1.76 oz. for $36.00)
I've gotten this Korean moisturizer in past boxes and just love it. The packaging is super cute with its pale yellow color and illustration of a whisk whipping up some mellow cream. This is incredibly soft and light and really makes my skin feel incredible. It also has a light sugary scent to it- yum!
Marcelle Micellar Water for Normal Skin, 1.7 oz. - Estimated Value $2.14 (Buy a full-size 13.5 oz. for $17.00)
The Marcelle micellar water is a Birchbox staple and a really simple way to remove dirt, makeup, and oil as a first-pass cleansing method. It can also be used to refresh like you'd use a toner. Along with a lot of "ides" and "ates", this also has aloe in it to soothe skin. It's thin like water but has a tiny bit of slip to it and I can feel the bit of moisture in there too after using.
Beautaniq Beauty Butter Lip & Cheek Balm in Mauve Lychee, 0.14 oz. - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $16.00
There's something about pots of color that I am drawn to. When I saw this full-size lip and cheek balm in this box, I had to snatch it up (sorry, Megan!). The pale pink "mauve lychee" is such a delicate cute color and perfect for my skin tone. As with most dual makeup products, I find this to be much more useful as a cheek tint than a lip color. I love cream blushes because they are so buildable and blendable so this is just delightful.
Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abrocit Eau de Toilette, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $1.28 (Buy a full-size 100 mL. for $85.00)
If you love sugary sweet scents, this fragrance is a winner for you! I certainly will choose something fruity like this jackfruit, apricot, and papaya scent over a floral, but for winter, this feels a bit too light and playful for me. It also has a strong vanilla base though, so there is a deeper scent to anchor it. I do like this fragrance, but I'll be saving it for warmer months.
Verdict: This curated Birchbox has quite a nice value at $37.88 for a $15 box. I think a lot of that has to do with the full-size lip and cheek balm. I enjoyed everything in this box, especially the shine cream, cheek balm, and moisturizer.
