Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Review – Fall Prints + Boots

Stitch Fix Plus October 2019 Box 0001

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your Fix, your stylist handpicks 5 items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different.

Stitch Fix Plus Size Review – Fall Prints + Boots

Stitch Fix Plus October 2019 Box 0004

This is the invoice that was included. It shows in detail the items selected for me and the brands, sizes, and cost of each piece. The total comes up to $320.50 after all the discounts if I opt to keep everything—which is a $133.50 total savings! That almost covers the cost of the City Chic dress or Dolce Vita booties!

Stitch Fix Plus October 2019 Box 0005

As always, I received this handy sheet with a note from this month’s stylist, Nicole! What a beautiful name, am I right? She includes some helpful styling tips for a few of the pieces and reasons for why she selected them for me. I appreciate Nicole referencing my Instagram for inspiration and the feedback I provided from the last Fix!

Zani Chiffon Maxi Dress by City Chic, Size 20wRetail Value $139

Initially when I saw this dress, I was concerned about how and when I could wear it since it was fall time. However, our October was fairly warm and temperate ’til the week of Halloween, so this dress could have still been a viable option for a night on the town. This dress is gorgeous! I love the jewel tones of turquoise blues and reds with accents of taupes, creams, and white against the black background. This maxi dress has a car wash skirt with layers of fabric that make it look more unique than your typical maxi dress. I love how it looks paired along with my black faux-leather biker jacket. The only thing I dislike is, due to the spaghetti straps, I would have to wear a strapless bra! Boo hiss– but otherwise, this dress is an absolute stunner!

Monday to Sunday Printed Shirt by Sanctuary, Size 2x — Retail Value $89

In my feedback, I asked my stylist, Nicole, to send me some of the Rebecca Minkoff for Stitch Fix pieces. She was unable to send any, but this blouse honestly looks like it could have been a part of the line! I love the contrast of the black and baby pink leopard print against the rich camel shade. The fabric has limited stretch, but the cut is good enough that it is not necessary. I styled this top with the slip skirt Nicole also selected, but how great would this look paired with lightly torn jeans and white Chuck Taylors on a laid back Sunday afternoon? I also love thinking of this being paired with fitted dress pants and a blazer at the office– so chic!

Larza Satin Slip Skirt by Skies Are Blue, Size 22w — Retail Value $58

I wanted to like this skirt, I really did. I generally like tulip-style skirts; I even owned quite a few of them years ago. However, the satin fabric just makes this style skirt look sloppy on me. I love tucking shirts into pants and skirts, but with this skirt you can see the lines from the shirt and my underpants lines too. In addition to that, the fit was really awkward. It felt incredibly fitted, yet snug in different spots. I wonder if this would have worked better with a ponte fabric for this style skirt? Even though this skirt was a fail for me, it doesn’t mean it couldn’t be dreamy for someone else. This would probably look best styled with a sweater or slightly cropped T-shirt that isn’t tucked into the skirt.

Bel Leather Heeled Bootie by Dolce Vita, Size 9.5 — Retail Value $140

I love a good bootie and my stylist, Nicole, is well aware of this about me. I have been on the hunt for the perfect faux snakeskin boots. Stitch Fix did not have a style similar to what I was seeking, but Nicole opted to send these to see if they worked instead. I like the texture of these boots. They are incredibly well made. That all being said, the fit was rather tight. I got them on, but you may notice how they cut into my calves. I sadly had to pass on them due to how tight they fit on me. It is a shame really because I loved them paired with the rest of the items Nicole sent. These will complete casual outfits and ensembles for the outfit alike; their adaptability certainly makes the $140 price tag justifiable!

Stella Disc Drop Earrings by Mata Traders — Retail Value $28

Finally, we have these unique earrings by Mata Traders. I couldn’t help but be drawn to the speckled texture; it reminded me of the old composition notebooks of yore! These metal disc earrings are interesting and well made. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear, which is a big plus! I love how they finish the outfit that Nicole sent me this month, too!

The Verdict: This month’s Stitch Fix had some highs and lows, but was good overall. My stylist was immensely thoughtful and considerate in her selections; you truly could tell she took my feedback and my social media to heart in piecing together what she sent. I actually loved the outfit she selected for me– it was detailed and thoughtful. The Sanctuary shirt and City Chic dress were my two favorite pieces. The earrings were a great statement piece that finished the outfit she sent me. I loved the Dolce Vita boots, but they didn’t fit me right. The skirt was the only piece I didn’t like on me. Ultimately, I feel that my stylist has an understanding of what appeals to me and is receptive to my feedback, which is so key! Not only do I enjoy collaborating with my stylist, but I like the convenience of Stitch Fix and would strongly suggest their styling service!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $454. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $320.50 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s roughly a 31% discount!

  1. Love that dress on you, lots of twirly movement. So sorry about the boots, I got excited when I saw them. But I am sure I would have the same problem with the fit. They need a gusset.

    • Awe thank you! Yes, the dress is so beautiful! The boots are cute too, for sure!

  2. The dress is unbelievably beautiful, & you just make it even more so. I definitely used profanity when I first saw the pics because I was in awe of you!
