Rocksbox December 2019 jewelry subscription box review

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and renting service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy the pieces they love most at a discounted price. Right now, you can even get your first month of Rocksbox membership for free! (Read on to learn how, or check out our list of other free subscription boxes here!)

Upon subscribing, you’ll take a “style survey” so Rocksbox can suggest jewelry pieces that fit your style. You can also browse their catalog and add pieces to your wishlist. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your wishlist.

Try on the items from the box and wear them as long as you’d like. From there, you have two choices. If you love any of the pieces enough to want to keep them, you can put your monthly “Shine Credit” towards your purchase.

Or, if you’re ready for another style, return your box using the free shipping label and reusable envelope you got with your shipment. Shortly after, you’ll get a brand new box of jewelry to enjoy!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Here’s the info booklet that came with the jewelry set. It includes a product list with retail and member-specific pricing.

They also included a handy jewelry care card.

A free return shipping label is also at the bottom of the box.

FYI: The outer envelope that Rocksbox ships inside doubles as a return shipping envelope! Be careful as you cut it open—there’s a second adhesive strip that can be used to reseal the envelope for its trip back.

Each jewelry item comes tucked inside its own protective pouch that can also be used as a polishing cloth.

Slate Byrdie Hoops – Listed Value $45.00, Member Price $38.00

I feel like as someone who never really wore hoops much until the last year, I am on the hunt to find the perfect pair. I love these because they are a great medium size, and the double hoop effect makes them a little more special than a simple single hoops style. I also like how thick and heavy these are and how they have beautiful movement when worn.

Sophie x Sterling Baguette Studs – Listed Value $45.00, Member Price $38.00

I have also been on the hunt for a nice pair of everyday studs, but I don’t really have the budget to purchase actual diamonds right now. Being responsible is hard! I was really impressed that these were so sparkly and well made. The emerald cut of the CZ shines and sparkles, and the demure size makes them flashy but not gaudy. I really love the new Sophie x Sterling line because the pieces are sterling silver and I am a sucker for sterling! I might end up holding on to these!

Sophie Harper Starburst Huggies in Rose Gold – Listed Value $45.00, Member Price $38.00

Huggies are another favorite earring style of mine, and I was drawn to the starburst design of these. I love wearing little hoops like this combined with other small studs or larger earrings for a layered look and the rose gold finish of these little ones is perfect for a mixed-metal look with some of my sterling or gold pieces.

Here are both of the little ones here together. I like this simple look, especially on a turtleneck and messy bun sort of day.

The Verdict: All of my pieces this month were from my Rocksbox wishlist and I quite liked them all! I am finding myself really drawn to smaller earrings this season, which is a huge style change for me. This sub makes it easy to experiment with changes in taste without spending a lot of money! I actually have enough Shine Credit to hang on to any of the pieces this month and I am really leaning towards those timeless studs… what do you all think? Should I keep them?

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer’s tastes and what’s available at the time. You can, however, give the Rocksbox stylists a nudge by adding your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21.00 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $135.00. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing (including the buy-all-three-items discount, my $20 worth of Forever Credit that I have on my account, and the $21.00 of Shine Credit [the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases]), and the $10 buy-all-three discount, that price drops to $63.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
