Robb Vices November 2019 Review

Included is a handy booklet with all of our product info. These are always filled with tons of useful info and great images.

Naked Cashmere Fingerless Gloves and Scarf Set

FYI: I couldn't find the exact gloves and scarf on the Naked Cashmere website, but the most similar gloves retail for $75. I couldn't find a scarf that was super similar, as all of the designs on the site are significantly wider, and thus more expensive.

I am a cashmere enthusiast, so it was nice to see some in this box. This set has both a scarf and pair of fingerless gloves, both in always-chic black. The scarf was long and narrow, perfect for wrapping around my neck multiple times. Both the scarf and gloves were on the thinner side, and while this worked for the scarf, the gloves certainly could have been thicker. Both pieces were very soft and well made, just on the lighter side.

Also included was a trio of chocolate bars.

Vosges Turmeric Ginger Chocolate Bar, 3 oz - Retail Value $8.00

This was one of the most delicious chocolate bars I have ever tasted! It is a "dark milk chocolate" but it tasted more like milk to me. It was actually downright creamy! There were strong notes of ginger, turmeric, and pepper too, which made it feel sweetly exotic.

Vosges Raw Honey Cocao Chocolate Bar, 3 oz - Retail Value $8.00

I liked this chocolate bar less, but that is likely because it was 100% cacao, and I like milk chocolate. I did think the honey nectar added a sweet and floral element, I just think it would have been more delicious if it was just a little creamier.

Vosges Black Salt Chocolate Bar, 3 oz - Retail Value $8.00

Yummmm! This dark chocolate bar was filled with a salted caramel filling that was more than a little decadent. At 72% dark chocolate, it was certainly smoother than the raw honey bar, and the oozing caramel made it feel even creamier.

Verdict: I don't know that I really recognize the Robb Vices subscription anymore. I did love all of the items included this month, but once again, they didn't add up to the experience I would expect from such an expensive box. Cashmere and chocolate do indeed make a luxurious pairing, but there wasn't enough in here this month for me to be able to justify a price tag of $144.90 with shipping and I can't imagine most subscribers would feel they walked away with a good deal here. Also, again, where is my booze??

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 1st of the month to receive that month's box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Received the December agate box today and agree with another comment that these felt like seconds. My stopper was damaged so sent email to a Robb Vices but have not heard back yet. I also told them this was a very disappointing box and lacking. Plus, do not show great pieces in your booklet but these were not the items we received. The agate tray was more like a coaster size or I guess cheese for one. I am just confused by this box.

Every month I think I should cancel, but still hold out hope that they’ll have another great box. In reality, the last four (probably more) have been disappointing.
A leather-adjacent laptop bag. Not my favorite, not the worst. I’ll use it, but I really hate anything that tris to be like something they say is bad. Like “vegan leather”, margarine, or a veggie- burger trying to taste like meat.
4 different beer glasses. Interesting I guess, but not worth the sub box price, and MSA didn’t even bother to review it.
A scarf and gloves, a vice? I actually like the scarf. It’s a perfect size and weight in my opinion. I hate a bulky scarf. For some reason I decided to buy a white coat. And when I looked at it I realized I should have thought it through because If I wear any makeup, it will ruin the collar. The scarf stops my face from touching the coat… so I’m using a $100 scarf to save a $30 coat (fabletics 50%off sale).
And the most recent box. The agate “plate” that feels like it was one that wasn’t good enough to sell, so they got rid of them through Robb Vices. It feels like this box should have included a bottle of wine and a chunk of cheese to make it complete.
My husband is a geologist so he likes it. I had to endure a 15 minute lecture on the history and composition of the stones. Who am I kidding, he was talking, but I wasn’t listening.
To be fair, Anna New York does sell the whiskey stones 6 for $145(which is crazy) and a cheese plate with knife in a different color for $95. Even without the stopper the contents do retail for more than the cost of the sub.

Last year everyone was complaining this box was all booze and no curation towards women. Now they send less booze And more women’s items and everyone goes crazy.

I almost caved on their Black Friday deal and I am glad that I skipped it. Not even close to the price on value. I tried it about 2 years ago for my birthday with a 3 month subscription and I don’t think I got my money’s worth. Hard to see any vices with this box anymore.

Sadly, I think the glory days of sub boxes is over. I resubbed to RV once more in the hope that this VERY EXPENSIVE box might return to its former magnificence, but after this and the December box, I think this one is over. Very disappointed again.

Oh for the good old days of Robb Vice’s, when I use to get so jealous when I saw the box and was new to subscription boxes. Then the big price jump. No hero item, no booze. I see the end is near.

I was kicking myself with this box. I signed up Black Friday which meant my sub started with the December box. I saw the teaser email saying the November box had cashmere so I emailed them asking if I could start with November instead. Ugh. The gloves are huge. I’m guessing they are sized for a man or a women with very large hands.
I seriously thought the cashmere item was going to be a throw. My son told me he felt bad for me as he could see the look of extreme disappointment in my face when I took out the gloves and scarf.
Last winter they had a box the sold out very quickly. It has a cashmere throw and the cinnamon vodka and I think it had sipping chocolate as well. It wasn’t a monthly box. For some reason I just thought that was going to be the November box. C’est la vie.

I received the free box worth over $600 and I loved it. Why did you think it was such a joke?

This is what I received:
Singapur U. Briefcase – Retail Value $195.00
Johnny Fly ‘Hughes’ Sunglasses – Retail Value $185.00
LSTN The Gramercy Speaker – Retail Value $129.99
Misc Goods Co. Playing Cards – Retail Value $15.00
Forever Pininfarina Cambiano Pen – Value $119 from Sept 2017

Spoiler alert, just got the December box today and it’s a collaboration with Anna New York and contains a small purple agate tray with a small knife, 4 agate whiskey stones, and an agate bottle stopper.

Alex

I just got mine too. The stones seem dangerously small for ice cubes. I wish they included a nice bottle of liquor

Zo

Received my box today. I do like the agate cheese tray. I just wish it had metallic along the edges. It does need whiskey to feel like a complete box. And the book – it has different items than is what in the box. Very odd.

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

If the items came packaged individually at least I could regift them. And maybe a full set of the cubes. And definitely liquor

Christina

They’re just unloading their inventory at this point. They’ve been selling that stuff on their site (overpriced) for awhile

Joy

While they have featured her brand on the site, none of the items in this box were sold from either the Robb Vices or Anna New York sites, so while I’m not impressed at the quality of these “made exclusively for this box” pieces, they are not just unloading site inventory.

Any whiskey?

I wish!

This is bad. One of the worst over $100 boxes I have seen!

This box feels incomplete. If you look on their site, they have a gift box that includes these items, a wireless speaker and a bottle of cinnamon vodka. Isn’t that what is supposed to be in this subscription?

Yikes! What an awful box 🙁

Where are the Vices Robb? The past several boxes have been a joke and I can’t even remember the last box that had booze.

Oh my… I subscribed when they had the GWP supposedly with a $600 value… what a JOKE that was.. it was such a waste and now we got this thing of a box..I actually thought it was just an extra until I saw the email saying my box was delivered. I would never eat any of the chocolates..plus I almost gave them away and will do so now.. I will definitely be canceling and not renew.. I hot this for my office and ot is such a disappointment. I thought the booze would be nice to send home with some of the guys. I would say Do Not waste your money on this sub.

As someone who lives in Southern FL and hates cashmere (I’ve felt $2k cashmere and still hate it), I would have very extremely disappointed with this box. What even was this curation? 😑

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

This feels more like the start of an Ellen box or PopSugar.

No curation here, and not even meeting the cost of the box.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

Time for them to fold, this lacks creativity and value….the boxes are getting worse.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

Wow what about all the people that live in warm weather climates and have no use for scarf and gloves? I would not be a happy camper with 3 chocolate bars.

Reply ButtonReply

Ks

Yikes. They’re not even trying. So many awesome holiday boize things they could’ve done.

Reply ButtonReply

Misti

I almost subbed this box for my husband .. I am happy that I just could not pull the trigger at $144.95 a month
I would be pissed had I pulled the trigger for a Booze box that stopped sending booze
