  • The Mixed Book Box - 2 picture books and 1 board book for all ages.

This review is of the Mixed Book Box for $19.95 a month. This option includes board books and picture books for families with children in both age ranges.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

You can choose to have your books wrapped each month for an extra $5.00 per shipment. The paper is always nice, thick quality, and often features their signature Lillypost fox. I think this makes receiving our books just a bit more special each month.

Lillypost November 2019 "Superheroes" Review

Lillypost included this little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley the Fox into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month’s theme is "fall" and this card includes some fun facts related to the theme! On the back there is a note encourages your littles to enter the coloring contest, even if they've won before.

Petite Boutique Colors by Make Believe Ideas, Ltd. - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $7.48)

This book is such a creative and fun way to introduce the concept of colors and color-mixing! Not only are there a lot of smaller images of objects to help teach vocabulary, but there are three pages that feature little semi-transparent circles of colors that when combined with the circle on the previous pages mix together to create a new color. While this is meant for younger kids, this was a great visual for my older children as well so that they can see the color change happening before their eyes!

Business Pig by Andrea Zuill - Retail Value $16.95 (found here for $10.81)

Well, who knew that a pig in a suit could be so adorable? This little piglet is just a bit different from the rest of the litter and it causes him to stand out, but not necessarily in a good way. While he longs to be adopted, he seems to get passed over each time until he decides to use his keen business sense to help him! He whips up some ideas and advertises what a great pet he would be, and eventually, his hard work and savvy business-sense pay off! This was a silly and cute book that the kiddos and I enjoyed!

Love, Z by Jessica Sima - Retail Value $17.99 (found here for $12.79)

Z is a robot who finds a note washed ashore that reads "Love, Beatrice," which sets him on a quest to discover what this mysterious word "love" means. As a robot, this term "does not compute" and so he sets about asking all those he encounters on his journey what love means to them. He still has a hard time understanding until eventually, he meets Beatrice herself and she helps show him exactly what it means! This was a cute concept and the illustrations were great. I loved that it introduced the idea of asking my kids what love means to them!

Verdict: This was another set of great books from Lillypost! The colors book was entertaining and perfect for little hands, Business Pig was a cute, funny story, and then we have our sentimental robot story to round it all out making sure that everyone in our family had something to enjoy!  The total retail value of our books came to $42.93 ($31.08 with sale prices) which is great for a $24.90 ($19.95 + $4.95 shipping) box!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the December box.

Value Breakdown: At $24.90 ($19.95 a month + $4.95 shipping) for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Love, Z: $10.44

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
