Gwynnie Bee November 2019 Review
This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received November 1st, 2019:
Jungle Jacquard Eve Flare Dress by Leota, Size 2x — Retail Value $58
This dress is so beautiful– the Gwynnie Bee site does not do it justice! The Leota brand is one I am very familiar with and review quite often. I love their pieces because they are well made, the fabric always has the perfect amount of stretch, and the cuts are classic and wonderfully hug and flatter the body! This dress is no exception. The jacquard fabric is perfectly retro, but without the discomfort and lack of stretch. Plus, unlike my treasured vintage polyester scooter dresses of yore, the fabric this dress is made of has some breathability. The neckline and flared skirt of this piece add to the ’50s/’60s style I adore! This dress is ideal for spring or summer, but I can envision it being worn this holiday season with a cropped fur-trimmed cardigan, black tights, and heels. I would amp up the kitsch with a big red beaded necklace, cardigan, and matching chunky loafer-style heels to go with the dress and black tights. What a stunner!
Taupe and Black Tie-Waist Shirt Dress by Donna Morgan, Size 20 — Retail Value $29.50
Another classic piece I received was this Donna Morgan shirt dress. I have been receiving a lot of Donna Morgan brand pieces; one I remember and love is a snake print dress I reviewed by them in one of my recent Dia & Co reviews. This brand reminds me of Leota’s pieces: the stretchy fabric that gorgeously embraces one’s swerves and curves. I love the definition the tie-waist provides as well. I can envision Joan Holloway (I refuse to acknowledge her married name for reasons other fans will know!) wearing this stunner on Mad Men, can’t you? This dress is perfect for the office, just add a cozy black cardigan or blazer. If you go out for drinks later, you can always switch out the flats for heels, if you like! I simply styled this piece with black flats and my vintage-inspired Firmoo glasses and was work ready!
Multi Striped Collared Dress by ModCloth, Size 2x — Retail Value $68
I saved my favorite for last, guys! I had been eyeing up this ModCloth dress for a few weeks and kept hoping it would be delivered to me after adding it to my Priorities list. I am so excited that it finally came! I was surprised that the fabric was so lightweight– it is 80% viscose and 20% linen. This piece would be fantastic for summer or spring, but can easily be winterized! I love pattern clashing, so I would pair this dress with a leopard print faux-fur coat or cardigan, black tights, and burnt orange or red Oxford or Mary Janes to tie in the colors from the dress. I wore this dress on a warmer day, so I opted to style it with black flats and my favorite flower power hoop earrings from Blush Daisy. I just love the color scheme on this dress– the orange against the lavender is sensational! This dress would be wonderful to wear at the office or out with friends when your shift ends!
Verdict: Gwynnie Bee keeps slaying and I am here for it! I accidentally typed Gwynnie Bae, but truth be told– that is actually one of the most spot-on typos ever! I love being able to not only try on pieces, but actually being able to rent them through Gwynnie Bee. I love being able to try out brands and styles new to me. Not only that, but once I return the pieces I don’t have to worry about postage or washing the clothes– Gwynnie Bee handles it all! They provide a prepaid envelope and dry cleaning for all pieces you mail back– how cool is that? They also have a point system where you can accrue discounts on items you choose to keep! So, if I decide to keep that ModCloth dress I am in love with, I earn points to go toward future purchases! Did you also know that Gwynnie Bee has an outlet where you can purchase gently worn, previous rental pieces at a deep discount? I cannot suggest them enough, especially since they offer their first month half off! Plus they are size inclusive with items ranging from size 0 to 32! Seriously, what are you waiting for? Sign up today!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase.
Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month. The three items total up to $155.50, which is $60.50 more than my monthly subscription fee! That is a heck of a value, but imagine if had I returned these pieces and received even more! Wow!
