Vegancuts Makeup Box Fall 2019 Review

Each Vegancuts Makeup Box comes with an information card detailing the items for that quarter.

Let's dive in!

100% Pure Creamy Long Lasting Eyeliner in 'Royal', 1.14 g - Retail Value $26.00

I don't normally reach for blue liners (my eyes look better with a plum if I am going to go colorful) but this liner is deep enough that I can totally see myself using it. It is a multidimensional deep, deep blue that has loads of pigment. It swipes on smooth as silk, and does have a lot of staying power, especially for a pencil!

It is the deepest blue with just a hint of shimmer.

RMS Beauty Swift Shadow in 'Garden Rose', 2.5 g - Retail Value $20.00

I love RMS Beauty, especially for its shadows. They are so smooth and have loads of pigment, and the most beautiful shimmer! This brownish-rose is exactly the sort of color I would wear on a daily basis. You can use it lightly for a sheer wash sort of effect or go heavy for shining metallic drama. More often than not, my eyeshadow look is one single shadow over my lid blended upwards into my crease, and this texture is a dream for that ombre type of fading.

This has a bit more rose to it in person and this swatch is rather heavy.

la beaute Soi Blending Brush - Retail Value $3.00

This little brush is handy for blending out eyeshadows or applying touches of highlighter in smaller spots. It worked like a dream with the RMS shadow above, grabbing up loads of shadow with minimal fallout and depositing it beautifully onto my lids. The bristles are synthetic and feel of good quality. I like the classic white handle and rose gold neck.

Aesthetica Powder Contour Kit - Retail Value $40.00

I was a little 'meh' about the main item this month being a big contour palette. This is mainly because I don't ever contour, which is due to the fact that I have no idea how to do so in an effective way. So this is def. a 'ME' issue! This kit came with a very helpful (and hopefully fool-proof) diagram of exactly where the powders should go on a face. Surely I could manage...?

Top to bottom: Cameo, Radiance, Glow, Sunkissed, Picture Perfect, and Flawless.

Here is what I came up with after my first attempt. This was super light-handed because I was scared! The side I am pointing to has a few of the different powders on while the other just has my normal translucent powder. I followed the included diagram pretty closely, though I probably didn't use enough powder. The darker shades made me feel totally out of my element, though I have to admit that I do feel a little more curious about contouring after trying this kit. I expect I will make a few more attempts at this and I did find the powder formulas a lot less scary than the cream or stick contour products out there. Any tips for newbies to contouring? Do you find it necessary in your routine or just extra work? I need to know so comment below! Help a girl out!

Pacifica Cherry Matte Setting Spray, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $10.00

How cute is this spray? Pacifica always has the most beautiful packaging. I wasn't sold on this spray at first because upon first sniff, it was very, very cherry! This scent was much lighter and a little more floral when used as a mist, and I liked it much more! I generally prefer more of a dewy finish to my look, but when you use a ton of highlighters something like this is certainly a better choice. This did give my makeup more longevity and the feeling was very refreshing in the middle of the day when I used it again as a touchup!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $99.00 which is a little over double the $39.95 cost. I think there could have been one more super item in here to make that overall total feel stronger, but there is certainly value here, especially if you enjoyed all of the products. The main hero item here is the contour palette, which people will either love or not love, or, maybe like me, just be a little confused but hopeful about? My favorite item was easily that RMS shadow. I absolutely LOVE IT. The eyeliner brush and setting spray were all solid additions. I hope that next month we will see a higher overall value, since I generally really like the assortment that arrives in this box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I have come to love contouring. I had to practice a bit but now its part of my routine. I think your makeup looks really pretty and if contouring is for you it will seamlessly become part of your routine.

I love the eyeliner and would so use the setting spray as a mist.
