Sephora Favorites: Luxe at Sephora Review

back of Sephora Favorites Luxe At Sephora box listing contents

On the back of the box, you'll find information about all of the contents. This favorite features two mini mascaras, a mini primer, and four mini lipsticks for a total of seven items.

Christian Dior Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume HD Mascara in 090, 0.14 oz. - Buy the full size for $29.50

Wow- okay. I remember trying Diorshow a long time ago and not loving it but I'm kind of into this "pump 'n' volume" version now. The short silicone bristles allow a super easy application with virtually no clumps and it's slightly tapered on the end to get into those eye corners. The idea with this squeezable tube is that you can knead the formula to soften before spreading it onto your lashes. I'm seeing some length and the formula stays pliable on my lashes to reduce flaking. Well done!

I wasn't able to find the size in ounces for the full-size version which prevented me from getting an estimated value for the trial size I received here. 🙁

Giorgio Armani Beauty Rouge D’ Armani Matte in 400, 0.04 oz. - Estimated Value $10.86 (Buy full-size 0.14 oz. for $38)

I think this is my favorite lipstick of the three! I just love the perfect deep red hue and it's really creamy and non-drying even though it's a fantastic opaque matte. Although it does transfer a bit (and can really leave a mark) it really stays put for quite some time which is reassuring. I think this shade and formula hits the nail on the head and is the very definition of luxury beauty. I'm just obsessed and it's my new favorite go-to red.

Givenchy Volume Disturbia Mascara in 01 Black, 0.14 oz. - Estimated Value $13.50 (Buy full-size 0.28 oz. for $27)

I love the silicone bristle wand on this mascara except for its blunt end. I wish it were rounded to make it a little easier to use in a more detailed way. Compared to the Diorshow, this mascara is slightly clumpier but I personally it gives me a bit more length and lift. The formula seems to be a bit drier as well so there is potential to flake a bit down the road. The most unique part of this mascara though is its scent which I assume is a Givenchy perfume? I liked the floral scent at first but earlier I got into my car right after applying this and it's all I could smell and I thought "Do my eyelashes need perfume?" It does fade but I think I'll pass for now. A nice mascara otherwise!

Guerlain L’Or 24K Gold Radiance Primer, 0.16 oz. - Estimated Value $11.84 (Buy full-size 1 oz. for $74)

A primer with 24K gold flecks in it? Sign me up! Guerlain is actually new to me so I've never tried any of their beauty products. When I first pumped a few drops of this gel primer onto my fingertips and smoothed it onto my face, I was immediately met with a strong alcohol scent which doesn't really please me. However, it went on easily and didn't make my face feel cakey or heavy. I used a powder foundation over this which seemed to cling to it rather well.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer, 0.37 g. - Estimated Value $18.50 (Buy full-size 0.5 g for $25)

I'll be honest, I'm not super into Marc Jacobs cosmetics, but truthfully I haven't tried a ton either. I tried his nail polish when it first came out back when I was a weekly "Nail Nite" enthusiast with a group of girlfriends and have ever since scoffed at the designer jumping to the beauty world. This black gel eyeliner goes on super smooth but, unfortunately, I did notice that it'd end up smudging at the corners of my eyes rather easily. I do tend to have greasier lids than the average person, so creamy liners are tough for me.

Tom Ford Lip Color Lipstick in 16 Scarlet Rouge, 0.03 oz. - Estimated Value $16.50 (Buy full-size 0.1 oz. for $55)

Like with many of these luxury designer brands, this is my first Tom Ford product. His cosmetics are normally out of my price range which is why it's nice to try a small size in a kit like this before splurging. The color here is a gorgeous tomato-red and it feels super hydrating (perhaps it's the chamomilla flower oil) and stays a bit glossy which strays from my normal matte lippies. The only thing I noticed right away is that it seemed to bleed a bit outside of my lip line. "Why not wear a lipliner, Marne?" you may ask. Yes- that would probably remedy this but I try to use the least amount of products as possible for a simple routine. While I love this color, I'm just not totally sold on this formula since it also transfers rather easily.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick in Corail Domain, 0.06 oz. - Estimated Value $15.20 (Buy full-size 0.15 oz. for $38)

This lipstick is the palest of the three and is a beautiful light coral color. It's intensely creamy and glides on with no effort whatsoever. As it says in the name, it's also quite shiny which gives it a glamorous wet look while keeping my pout moist. This is going to be a fantastic color for spring! It's super lightweight and doesn't feel anywhere close to being cakey.

The Verdict: I simply adore The Sephora Favorites: Luxe at Sephora kit! As far as makeup goes- this one hit hard with great brands and lip hues I love. I'm happy I got to try these otherwise not-so-attainable designer brands for $40 so that I know which ones to pass or splurge on. Will I spend $38 on a full-size Armani lipstick? Maaaaybe. $55 on Tom Ford? Probably not. It's a bummer that this one sold out but I hope Sephora does more of these because I had a great time with it!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you order today? Unfortunately, this kit is no longer available.

Value Breakdown: At $44.95 ($39 + $5.95 shipping) for this kit, you're paying approximately $6.42 per item.

Thank you for trying the lipsticks on their own merit, without a pencil used to corral the color onto the lips and stay in its lane. 🙂 That is information I want to know: does this lipstick bleed into lip lines? Good job reviewing all of these products. Guerlain meteorites (if you are not familiar with those, check it out, those are pretty fun for makeup) are heavenly scented, by the way, in a good way if you like violet scents. I laughed at your writing if your mascara really needs perfume. There was outcry when Clarins Paris added a strong scent to their eye makeup remover quite a while ago. It’s something that stuck with me, after that. Why would they add scent to mascara? I can understand a flavoring to lips, or that yummy Guerlain scent that is in their meteorites, but I agree about eyes being off limits to scents. I would have bought this box, but I’m happy to see it reviewed here and find out that it is sold out. Already have some nice Pat McGrath reds and Marc Jacobs’ blaquer pencils. Saved me some money seeing it here.

Thanks, h! My laziness (not using a lip liner) pays off! 😉
Oh yes! I’ve seen those Guerlain meteorites reviewed before on YouTube and think they’re so cool! Wet n Wild did a collab with PacMan and they made a blush like that as well. Too cute!
Pat McGrath lipsticks OMG! Yes- I bought 2 of the mini 3-packs from Sephora and simply adore them (as if I need more lipstick…).

My experience with YSL lipstick…it always bleeds- ALWAYS! The first time it happened I felt so old, it reminded me of my grandma and her eternally running lipstick! I have tried more than one formula and it does not work for me. I have not had problems with Tom Ford. These days I mostly use RMS or Ilia formulas without issues.
