My Fashion Crate November 2019 Review

My Fashion Crate always includes an insert with descriptions of the items and their values. The front side of the page lists everything in the Essential box, while the back gives you the Premium box details. They include pictures, which I always appreciate.

Chic Striped Sweater, size L - Listed Value $45.00

Well, this is a first! Usually, the clothing from this sub fits on the smaller side for me, but this sweater is huge and oversized making it pretty comfortable. I love wearing stripes, so it suits my style as well. I'm not sure I love it - for some reason the color scheme isn't doing it for me, but I will definitely be wearing this one because it's casual enough that I can wear it any time over jeans and it's comfortable and flowy. Maybe this will be my Thanksgiving shirt to hide my belly full of pie! I love that the back is super long making it perfect to wear over leggings, too. It's not necessarily what I would call a sweater because it's a bit thin, but it's a great weight for a winter top!

Knot Twisted Headband - Listed Value $25.00

I love this headband and think it's a great fit for this sub. The neutral color should match almost anyone's winter outerwear and the simple twist knot adds just enough detail to deem it "cute." I also think it's a good winter item that should be welcome in any climate, too, and not just for us chilly East-Coasters!

Here it is on. Just big enough to keep your ears warm!

Daily Concepts Jade Facial Roller - Retail Value $16.00

Seeing as this is the year of the rollers, you knew we couldn't make it all the way through the year without getting another one of these! This jade roller is actually only the second that I have received in a subscription and since I don't need two, I'll be gifting this to one of my sisters. The fact that this is packaged in a nice box will make it an even nicer gift! As for it being included in this month's box, I think it was a great choice. These rollers are such a treat for tired skin (I love using mine after chilling it in the fridge!) and this is a great way to ensure that your skin gets all the moisture it needs this winter since it can help products penetrate more deeply into your skin.

Chella Eyeliner Pen in Brown - Retail Value $21.00

Liquid eyeliner is another one of those subscription box favorites, but this one is just a bit different since it's brown, which I much prefer! I actually don't think I have a liquid eyeliner in this color since I am not a big liquid liner fan unless I am going for a more dramatic look (which is rare these days). I did find this one pretty easy to work with and it went on smoothly and, with a steadier hand than mine, I'm sure you could get a nice thin line with the small, semi-firm tip. It dried quickly although I was able to swipe it on my lower lashes and blend it before it set. While I won't be switching from my traditional liner, this is still a nice one to have in my collection and I'm sure I'll reach for it again sometime!

Here it is swatched a few different ways.

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Cuddly Taupe Top, size L - Listed Value $35.00

This top is super simple and another comfortable one! It looks like it's a thicker material, but it is actually pretty sheer, so I did need to wear a cami underneath. I love this oatmeal color and I think I like the tucked sides although they don't add as much to the look for me since they don't drape as well over my wide hips. This is another top that is really wearable for me though because it's so basic and casual. I also think it could easily be dressed up with some jewelry or become a great backdrop for a fun scarf. It also pairs very nicely with our next item that I am also wearing here.

Keep It Basic Brown Leggings - Listed Value $25.00

I don't have any brown leggings and never knew that I wanted them until I tried these! I love wearing brown and shades of brown in the fall so these are great. Plus they are so incredibly soft with the fleecy lining and they are thick enough that I felt comfortable and warm while they made my legs look smooth and even. In addition to the new top from above that I can pair it with, I know I have a ton of other pieces in my closet that these will work with. I also plan to wear these with taller boots to keep me extra cozy on those colder days!

Verdict: This was a totally solid mix from My Fashion Crate this month for me. The clothing choices were all pretty basic and comfortable and that's exactly what I'm looking for this time of the year! I thought the headband was cute and perfectly neutral and the eyeliner was a nice change from the typical black liners that sub boxes like to send. I thought the jade roller was a nice touch, too, and since it was packaged neatly in its own box, it's an easy one to gift if you're a true sub box addict and already have your own collection of them, especially with the holidays coming up. As usual, I wouldn't pay retail value for the clothing items, but I'd gladly pay the average cost per item of $9.32 for them! This box was definitely a winner for me!

The total value for the Premium box using listed values comes to $167.00 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $5.95 shipping) box, even with some inflation in the values. As for the Essential box, the value is $107.00, which is good for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. For the $14.95 extra paid for the Premium box, I received the taupe top and brown leggings (valued at $60.00).

This was a good one. I wore the first shirt the very next day… although I swear I could open a jade face roller store at this point. Sheesh…

This may be the first time i’ve seen a review of this and thought–“Hey, that’s pretty good stuff! Maybe I want to try it.” Think I’d need to see a couple more before taking the plunge though…
