Motherhood Survival Box is a quarterly subscription box for mothers that sends handpicked items specially designed to support them and give them a much-needed break. They offer two subscriptions: the "Original" box which comes with 4-6 handpicked items and a surprise gift for $49.95 + free shipping, or the "Mini" box which contains 2-3 items taken from the "original" box for $24.95 + free shipping.

FYI: The "mini" box is no longer an option for new subscribers, but it looks like current mini box subscribers will continue their subscription through 2019. More on that below!

This review is for the $24.95 Mini Motherhood Survival Box.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Motherhood Survival Mini Box Fall 2019 Review

Our box came with several different inserts this quarter. There was a reminder to take care of yourself along with a nice letter from the founder thanking subscribers and highlighting the fact that purchasing this box also helps support women/mom-owned businesses. We also received a note that this will be our last mini box before they are discontinued and they provided a code for 50% off your first box if you choose to upgrade to the Original box.

This note lists all of the items we received along with their retail values.

Shai's World 5 Free Nail Polish in Vanilla Latte - Retail Value $9.99

This season's box is all about pampering yourself and getting a fresh manicure can definitely fit into that! This bottle of polish comes from Shai or Shai's World and impressively this brand was started by a young girl when she was a mere 13 years old! This 5-free formula is vegan and cruelty-free and I love the vanilla latte color. I am not sure if I just got a bad batch or if the temperature has affected my bottle, but the polish has seemed to separate a bit inside the bottle and no amount of shaking seemed to make a difference.

My five-year-old is my nail polish model here. This is two coats and I love the color, but you can see in the last photo how it looks a bit grainy on her nail when it dried and while it doesn't look bad, I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to look!

Bonus: Glass Nail File and Case

We also received this beautiful glass nail file and a sturdy plastic case to keep it in. This wasn't listed on the information sheet we received, nor is it branded, so I am thinking of this as more of a bonus item!

One Pine Hill Rose Quartz Bath Bomb - Retail Value $4.00

This bath bomb is full of pink sea salt and a touch of coconut oil which led to a luxurious bath that left my skin incredibly soft. The rose quartz scent is a mix of rose, bergamot, orange, and grapefruit and I mostly picked up on the fresh grapefruit notes. I probably could have used just one half of it for a bath since it was so rich (is that a thing to say about bath bombs?), but I went for the whole thing since who knows when the next time I would get a full-out bath would be! It was definitely a pleasant and relaxing experience!

Loba Mane Transformative Mask, 5 oz - Retail Value $24.00

This hair mask tub is so pretty! I love the floral design and the gold label. This is listed as a mask for color-lock and intense repair and is meant for someone with color-treated or overprocessed hair to provide deep conditioning and seal in their hair color. It contains organic ingredients like coconut, argan, and avocado oils along with two new ones for me: buriti (adds shine) and tucuma (increases hair growth) as well as antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, and other ingredients to really help restore your hair. It does say it is suitable for all hair types, but I felt like this was a bit too much for my hair which I rarely use heat products on and have never colored. It did leave my hair more manageable and it looked shiny, but I'll probably be passing this along to my sister who regularly colors her hair.

True Citrus Sample Pack - Listed Value $3.25

The last item we received is this True Citrus pack which was chock full of samples along with a few coupons and some info about their products. These are made with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives and only contain natural real citrus flavors. They are non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and low in calories.

True Lemon Fruit Infusions (4 packets) - Buy a box of 10 for $3.99

First up I tried the lemon mint version of this packet of fruit infusions which has no sugar. It gave my water a nice lemon and mint flavor and they describe it as "spa water" which sounds about right! I thought it was good, but my husband wasn't a fan. The other flavors I received are lemon raspberry, lemon cucumber, and lemon strawberry.

True Lemon Sweetened Drink Mixes (4 packets) - Buy a box of 10 for $3.99 or buy a sample pack here for $3.25

This strawberry lemonade sounded like a good option, but I am super sensitive to any sweetener that isn't straight sugar, stevia included, so I couldn't handle this one. The flavor itself was nice, but just much too sweet for my tastes! We also received an original lemonade, a raspberry lemonade, and a black cherry limeade, which I might still have to try because it sounds so good!

True Grapefruit/Lime/Lemon (6 packets) - Buy a box of 32 for $4.99 or buy a sample pack here for $1.29

This last product was the one that my husband and I both liked most. These little packets are filled with crystallized lemon, lime, or grapefruit. I decided to try the grapefruit and it made my water taste nice and tart and citrusy without sweetening it. My husband tried the lime and he really liked it. He loves putting lemon juice in his water, so this will be a nice alternative that I can keep in my purse when we're out or traveling and want a little citrus burst!

Verdict: This fall's Motherhood Survival Mini Box had a nice mix of pampering items inside and I love that they are all from women- or mom-owned businesses. That makes each item feel a bit more special to me as a fellow mama knowing how long the days can sometimes be! While the items we received were nice, these items weren't really for me this time around. The hair mask was okay, but it seems more targeted at someone with color-treated or damaged hair, and these days I go pretty natural so it's a bit too intense for my hair needs. It also didn't help that my nail polish was separated. The bath bomb was probably my favorite item and I did enjoy how many samples of the True Citrus products I received. Value-wise I think that it was pretty good at $41.24 for a $24.95 + free shipping box which doesn't include the nice nail file!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of now, the fall box is still available, but it looks like you will only be able to purchase the full-sized Original box. It did already sell out once though, so I would order quickly if you are interested! From Motherhood Survival:

If you sign up before the 15th of any month your box will ship that month on the 20th. If you sign up after the 15th your box will ship the 20th of the following month. You will receive a tracking number once your box ships.

ACTIVE DEAL: Save $5 off your first box!
CODE: CJ05

Value Breakdown: This box costs $24.95, including free shipping, which means that each of the 5 types of items (including the glass file) costs $4.99.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Great review! I thought I’d give “True Citrus” a try, BUT shipping, at least to NM is $7.99 for the sample kit in review.

Thanks for reading, Gillian! That’s a bummer about the shipping! 😞

I don’t think that polish looks “fresh”. I would rather see coffee instead of cold water drinks. It is fall now. I would not pay the asking price for this sub.

Thanks for reading, Jody! Coffee would have been a good one!
