The Fortune Cookie Soap Box is a monthly subscription that offers bath and body products centered on a new theme each month. FCS will create new products to fit that theme, and then will offer up the extended collection for sale later in the month.

FYI- About a year ago Fortune Cookie Soap changed its subscription model. Read more about it here.

This month’s theme was “Sweater Weather.”

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Fortune Cookie Soap “Sweater Weather” October 2019 Review

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box.

Warm & Cozy Hydrate Me, 2.2 oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $11.99

While I prefer the whipped cream lotions from FCS over the Hydrate Mes, I am making this stick of solid oils and butters work because I love the scent of cashmere musk, sweet vanilla, and softwood (which, after googling, are fir and pine trees).

Cabin Fever Scent Diffuser, 0.25 oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $12.99

This scent diffuser has a plastic plug that is a bit hard to remove, but the hard work was rewarded with the scent of whitewashed woods, citrus leaves, tonk, and oud. It really gave me those ~fall~ feels, and I like that the design makes it easy to hang wherever I want the scent diffused.

Chilly Nights Dry Shampoo

I very rarely need to use dry shampoo, but I appreciate that this is an eco-friendly one since it is non-aerosol. To use, just twist the lid until the holes are uncovered and sprinkle some out. I only used a very small amount so I can't speak to if larger amounts will leave a white cast, but I did like the soft scent of pine needles, freshly picked apples, and red currant.

Flannel Sheets Linen Spray

Ideally, I would be the kind of person who used linen sprays when folding clothes and making the bed, but in reality, I am the kind of person using a linen spray to freshen up clothes that have been in a pile for over a week since pulling them out of the dryer. Both kinds of people, though, should enjoy the scent of crisp autumn air, vanilla sugar, and patchouli.

The Verdict: I love fall scents, so this Fortune Cookie Soap box was perfect for me. Other than the dry shampoo, all of the products are already in use around my apartment, and I enjoy smelling like a sweater weather snack. I also appreciate that two full-size products were included this month, bringing the retail value of this box over the cost without even factoring in the two mini products.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No. Sign up by November 13th to get the December box. From Fortune Cookie Soap:

The next month’s category will be revealed on the 10th of each month. If you don’t fancy it, simply log into your FCS account and skip it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $16.95 + free shipping, which means you are paying $4.24 per item.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Fortune Cookie Soap is having its BF special now. Their GWYG boxes are gone (Get What Ya Get) but more will be made available at 6 PM CST. Otherwise, they have a lot of their products on special sale.

The scents were really great and I didn’t find the box to be bland at all, more like a warm hug of scents. I don’t need every box to be them reaching for a mainstream TV or movie theme as long as the products themselves are lovely.

Miss the old box with full sized items. Yeah it was a little more but it was worth it. I got 1 box after they changed the subscription and cancelled

I use a similar dry shampoo from Lush – but I use a makeup brush to apply it to my roots. I find that gets a lot more coverage without making it too “thick” – plus it’s easier to blend it. 🙂

I like the scents here, and the varied products – but I miss the fun themes.

The laundry battle! Why does it get so wrinkly?!

Does anyone else miss the FCS sub boxes of yesteryear? I can get “sweater weather” themed products from Bath and Bodyworks. The changes the sub has made this year really make it blend in with every other brand that sells similar products.

It is hard to explain, but it is like FCS has lost a charm that made them special. Wondering if anyone who has been following FCS for years knows what I mean.

I miss the old box too! I enjoy this one but I really liked the fandom themes they did before. It cost more but if I remember correctly it had mostly full size product. They are a quirky company (which I like) and the older boxes represented that better.

I do! I miss the original quarterly box. I much prefer to sample the products then purchase the ones that I like. I haven’t bought a box from FCS since the Marvel themed box. Finally canceled instead of continually skipping boxes. It was exciting for a few years then the excitement faded and was just meh.

I do! This box was pretty generic. I miss the weird quirky scents. I know they have a lot going on, and I’m so happy they’ve grown, but yeah, this was a total yawn.

Anyone know how you can check your spot in the waitlist? Thanks!

To check your spot on the waitlist, just login to their website with the email you signed up under and look at the page for purchasing the subscription.

When I signed up it said I was 92nd in line, but next day dropped to the 30s. Been there ever since lol

Sorry I missed this one. Those scents sound great. Just a heads-up that I tried to subscribe a couple of days ago and there are over 100 people on the waiting list. Also, I got one of those scent diffusers in the Halloween box and advise people not to tighten the cap too tightly. I did and the wood split.
