AKOCO AMOREPACIFIC Beautiful April Kit Review

Here is some information that was included in the box. It was all in Korean. Also, AMOREPACIFIC, while also being a brand name, is also the parent company to a ton of different K-Beauty brands. That’s why you don’t actually see any AMOREPACIFIC-branded products in this box. Now, onto the items!

primera

Primera Facial Mild Peeling, 15 ml - Estimated Value $4.45 (Buy a 4 pack for $17.80)

Peeling gels are very popular in K-beauty, but this is a type of product I am prone to disliking automatically. With that inherent bias noted, this actually was pretty decent- the balling up that occurred as I rubbed this into a clean, dry face wasn’t too excessive (which to me would be a sign of a gimmick rather than effectiveness), and my face did seem smoother once I washed it away. For a mild exfoliation, my face was not red or inflamed at all after using- I think this is the first peeling gel I would actually, willingly, use again.

hangul

Hanyul Pure Artemisia Mild Cleansing Foam, 15 ml - Estimated Value $2.13 (Buy a 4 pack for $8.49, on sale for $4.25)

I can genuinely count on K-beauty products that claim to be mild to be just that, and this was just as gentle as I expected it to be. Artemisia is also known as the mugwort plant, which is great for acne and oily skin without being too drying. This is called “pure” because it is free of animal raw materials, mineral oils, synthetic colorants, and sulfate surfactants, so if your skin is easily irritated while being acne-prone this could be a cleanser worth checking out.

hera

Hera Sun Mate Leports (SPF50+PA++++), 15 ml - Estimated Value $9 (Buy the 70 ml version for $42, on sale for $29.99)

I enjoy K-Beauty sunscreens more than Western ones, and this reaffirmed my choice. It is waterproof, so it is perfect to reach for on a sweaty day, but it still was easy to rub in and didn't feel heavy on my face.

sulwhasoo

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX, 8 ml - Estimated Value $2.75 (Buy a 4 pack for $10.99)

I expected this to be similar to an essence because it is supposed to be the first step in your routine after cleansing, but it definitely has a serum consistency. In terms of performance, this is supposed to add a hydration boost while increasing the absorption of your other skincare products. I would say it accomplished that goal, but not enough to make me want to spend the dollars for the full pack of four.

Iope Super Vital Cream Rich, 7 ml  - Estimated Value $5.77 (Buy a 4 pack for $23.08, on sale for $8.49)

The name says it all- it’s creamy, it’s rich, and my skin absolutely soaked it up. This is a heavier cream that dry skin havers will rejoice in and those with oily skin will shy away from, but this is exactly what my skin needs heading into these colder months.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, 15 ml - Estimated Value $3.75 (Buy a 4 pack for $15, on sale for $5.99)

I have dry skin, so while this sleeping mask is nice it’s actually not as nourishing as I want from a sleeping mask. It’s lightweight, non-sticky, and doesn’t get on my pillows, but I don’t usually reach for this version on its own. I actually am in love with the Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask, so my sensitive skin/dry skin gals should keep an eye out for that.

The Verdict: This box was a fun way to try out some K-Beauty samples without breaking the bank. Some of the brands were completely new to me (hi, Hera), while some are some K-Beauty heavy hitters (I am looking at you, Sulwhasoo and Laneige). Determining the value wasn't as cut and dry due to some products being sold as sample sets and sale prices, but my best estimation is that this kit has a total value of $27.85.

To Wrap Up

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of publication, this kit is still available.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $12.98 ($8.99 + $3.99 shipping) and I calculated a total value of $27.85. Here's how that approximately breaks down per item:

  • Primera peel: $2.07
  • Hanyul cleanser: $0.99
  • Hera sunscreen: $4.19
  • Sulwhasoo serum: $1.28
  • Iope cream: $2.67
  • Laneige mask: $1.75

Alternatively, you're paying about $2.16 per item.

Good review. I think I will give their boxes a try.

This is an amazing set for $10. I might actually pick it up if I am not on skincare overload. I had a sample of sulwashoo lotion and it lasts forever….

Not a bad box for 8 dollars. I think I might get this one when I get paid

The first picture of the box is upside down. I am Korean. You can trust me. Haha.

Oops! Sorry about that, and thanks for letting me know 🙂

This looks like a good box. Its not for me as I do not like peeling gels and have enough already and I hate that laneige product as its way too light for me. I didn’t like it when I was oily and now that I am as dry as a desert I cant be bothered with it at all.

I don’t think some of the prices listed are retail, they are sale prices. The Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX retails for $85 for 60ml on the Sulwhasoo site.

The true retail value of the set is much better than $27.99.

Agree, these aren’t retail prices. Good to know we can get these samples in sets of 3 though for way below retail on that site. Makes me want to see what else they have 🙂

It’s closer to $45. It’s a great box and a great deal. I bought several a couple months back and have really been enjoying them

Same here, I have like 10 left in my closet (each box lasts me around 14 days of daily use). My skin never looked better

Looks like a good box!

Nice review. I got one. I want to try the sunblock.

Jessica, so good to see you reviewing again. 🙂

Also, thank you for your honesty about the Laneige Night Sleeping Pack.
For dry and mature skin, it’s like, well, water, which is the point of it, I suppose but it’s a very poor choice for most varied brand boxes to source.
I can see why it would be in an Amore- Pacific box but gee, I’d buy a box with the great Mamonde brand they make in it tomorrow.

Thank you Lily! I’m not going anywhere, it’s just been a busy few months.

I haven’t tried the retinol version, but the glow recipe avocado sleep mask with retinol is supposed to be great for dry and mature skin. I have tried the non-retinol version, and it is super creamy and nourishing if not a bit basic.

I just “found” a brand new in box jar of the Avocado sleeping mask.
The entire title is Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask. Says it’s for Dry to Normal skin.

Tiny letters say it has Avocado, Honey and PHA.
Is PHA a retinol? There is a note to wear sunscreen, but it’s on the bottom of the box and not on the jar label at all- gotta love K- beauty. 🙂

Thank you for reminding me that I have this item!!! I have enough products to host a weekend SPA for many friends, so I forget what’s in which box… often…

Likely most of you are the same. 🙂

Lauren

Try the Huxley’s Secret of Sahara sleeping mask. It’s wonderful for my dry, middle-aged skin. Decent price and a tube lasts a long time.
