SinglesSwag October 2019 Review

You will find an info card right on top as soon as you open the box that lists out the featured products as well as their retail value and a short description. On the other side of the card are details on how to get your next box for free! Just tag your pics with @singlesswag to enter!

Way of Will Strengthening Nail + Cuticle Serum, 0.33 oz. - Retail Value $24.00

I thought this was a bottle of essential oils at first until I saw the dropper. Rejoice! This is actually just what I've needed- cuticle oil! My cuticles have been a mess lately and when I go to the nail salon to get a fill, they usually don't pay much attention to the dryness. For shame! A tiny drop of this oil on each finger is more than enough to smooth around my nail to moisturize and strengthen. It also happens to smell quite nice.

Ibla Hand Cream, 2.5 oz. - Listed Value $22.00/ Estimated Value $11.25

This hand cream from Ibla is made with Sicilian honey and is heavily scented, so I'm not really a huge fan. It's not greasy at all which is a plus, but I didn't find as "ultra-hydrating" as I was expecting. This item is a hard pass for me, unfortunately. I also wasn't able to find this size online but found a larger 4-ounce version that was sold out here for $18, so I'm not sure that the listed price is accurate.

Brilliance New York Perfect Finish Moroccan Argan Oil Serum, 1.69 oz. - Retail Value $40.00

I was afraid to put this somewhat thick serum into my wet hair for fear it'd be too much for my thin locks. I used it sparingly though and was pleasantly surprised how nice my hair looked once it dried. This serum is sort of gloopy and a tiny bit sticky so it doesn't comb through my hair as nicely as I'd expect. The end result is nice, though so I don't mind how we got there. The bottle is full-size and since only a small amount is needed, this should last me quite some time.

Indigo Authority Mila Peach Quartz Adjustable Chain Bracelet - Listed Price $68.00

Listen, this bracelet is cute. The rose gold is nice, I like the peach quartz, and the adjustable chain is cool. There just isn't a world that I believe in where this has a retail value of $68.00 and the quality doesn't read that cost to me. If it had a listed retail of something closer to $15, I'd say ok. One of the links that hold the stone to the chain was plain metal (with no rose gold coating) which just made it seem a little cheap. For me, I'd rather receive something different from this box than jewelry.

Vivian Roe Good Vibes Baseball Hat - Listed Retail Value $26.00

Less than a year ago I was a woman with no hats. I'd have to borrow a baseball cap from my roommate before going on a sunny bike ride. Nowadays, I am swimming in hats much like this one. I normally opt for black, but this maroon one has a washed treatment to it and has a wobbly "GOOD VIBES" embroidered into the front in white. While I'm not sure my cold heart agrees with the sentiments of this cap, it's nice that SinglesSwag is doing it's best to lift me up. In my darkest days, I will turn to this hat to remind me to go on. Apparently, the face I originally made while posing for a photo in said hat made Andy laugh which in turn made me laugh and he snapped the pic you see above (last in the slider). Perhaps it truly is working some magic? ✨

Trifle Cosmetics Liquid Glow, 0.68 oz. - Retail Value $23.95

I truly love a good highlighter, but I think this pink glittery number from Trifle Cosmetics is too much for me. I prefer a subtle glow and this one is packed with sparkle. It's also a quite thick formula and dries pretty quickly once spread to the cheekbones. My suggestion is to start sparingly and build this up if you want a big BOP of glitz and to keep it moving so it doesn't dry in a clump. It also smells like Smarties, so that's kinda fun but still not for me. Alternately, I can see this being a pretty great eyeshadow since it stays put.

Corso's Cookies Sugar Skull Cookie, 2.5 oz. - Listed Retail Value $4.00

Prepackaged cookies don't normally appeal to me. However, once I broke off a piece of this festive sugar skull-decorated cookie, I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite sweet, but still not as intense as I assumed. It wasn't overly dry and I was impressed that it arrived completely intact. There's no way I can eat this in one sitting, but I'll keep it around for the afternoon sweet tooth.

Verdict: SinglesSwag isn't a bad box by any means. They include a good variety of items and I liked a few this month like the cuticle oil and hair serum, but it's just not quite for me. I think this box tends to have listed prices a little inflated or the retail of the items just seems high to me for what they are. Overall, it has a retail value of $197.20 on paper but I don't know that I'd personally say that it's worth that in my heart.

To Wrap Up:

SinglesSwag is a literal dumping ground of off-brands and poor quality products. I signed up because in looking at past boxes, SS contained books and hats and high quality makeup, and I was excited to receive these goodies. I have received 3 boxes so far (I signed up for a 6 month subscription), and I have kept maybe 1-2 items from each, and either donated, gave away or straight up threw away the rest.

The prices seem outrageous, and in researching the products and brands, I have found several prices that SS has over inflated by almost double. They are lying to their customers and giving them sub-par products. I have found items from SS at my local dollar store.

I regret purchasing this subscription, and if I hadn’t already paid for 6 boxes up front, I would stop them now. I will 100% not be renewing after my first subscription ends.

Thank you for this comment, now I know not to sign up. I came to this post because someone on an Ellen kindness box recommended it, but the last review is 10 months old which makes me wonder what’s going on. I’m sorry you got stuck with a junkie box though. If it makes you feel any better, at least they are sending you the boxes. You could have gotten hoodwinked like I did and prepay for a year of Oui Please for $450 and 9 months later still waiting on our boxes.

Will MSA continue these reviews? Or perhaps do their new box the “Paradise Delivered” box? A girl needs spoilers!

Victoria

Ooh Paradise Delivered? I’ve never heard of it, but that sounds so up my alley. Check out the Women’s Collective box (I think that’s what it’s called), I’m hoping MSA checks that one out too!

No November review? No December Preview?

I mean December is my last SS Box, but still…

Tomorrow

Is SinglesSwag no longer being reviewed by MSA? I noticed that nothing was posted for the November box.

Liked the bracelet design, but it broke 🙁. It was my favorite thing in the box.

You should contact them. They are pretty good at replacing broken stuff. Which is not say that the replacement will not break. It probably will as it’s cheap bracelet. Me and this sub are not friends at all.

I cancelled the subscription yesterday. Singles Swag is hit or miss with me. I’m interested in using the money for a different sub.

I really do wish they would use better RV and just lower the overall cost of the box instead of letting us get it was 40% coupons but then send bracelets like this kendra scott knockoff. My bracelet came tarnished but I love way of will, the hat is going to my SIL, and the hair serum was pretty decent quality.

This box was a pass for me but I do like that SinglesSwag allows you to jump back in at any time and use a coupon. When the box is a good fit for me, it’s a great deal. I did this the last time they offered a Spongelle and some cute fashion jewelry and I find myself wearing the earring and necklace set quite a bit.
