Sephora Favorites: Skincare's Next Big Thing Review

The back of the box is where you'll find all the info you need on what's inside. This Sephora Favorite has 10 products to try out and see what works for you!

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, 0.4 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $28.80 (Buy the full size for $72.00)

This is the first product I reached for when I got this fave in the mail. I've been eager to try Biossance since seeing it in Sephora a lot. The bottle is really pretty in its own right and comes with a dropper to properly dole out the facial oil. You can tell right away that it contains rose oil due to the floral smell and also packs skincare fave, squalane. This is perhaps one of the lightest oils I've used and doesn't feel greasy at all. This brightens my skin and I'll be tossing it in my travel bag for upcoming trips.

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum, 0.17 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $9.86 (Buy the full size for $58.00)

Farmacy makes a lot of great products, their lip balm being a favorite of mine. This light thin pale yellow serum works at night to accomplish three things: resurface, hydrate, and clarify dull skin. It has virtually no scent, absorbs really nicely, and leaves a wonderful dewy feeling to the skin. In the morning, my face felt refreshed and quite nice while being fully hydrated. That's especially important when my heat is on and the air in my house gets dry.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer, 0.3 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $5.85 (Buy the full size for $39.00)

I'm a big fan of Glow Recipe products and already have the watermelon sleep mask and hydration mist so this watermelon moisturizer is the perfect complement and creates a full watermelon routine! This pump has quite a bit of product that should last long enough to see results. The product itself is a pale pink with a soft watermelon smell and gelly slipperiness to it. This feels a lot like a water cream so it quickly brings a plumpness to my skin and my face just soaks it all up. It can leave a slight stickiness behind but I find that can help my makeup stay put.

Herbivore Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil, 0.3 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $14.40 (Buy the full size for $48.00)

It's no secret that I lust after Herbivore. I have amassed quite the collection of minis which is kind of perfect for me since they are cute and colorful. This Emerald glow oil one is new to my arsenal and a pale beautiful green color, as you'd expect. It is most certainly an oil but isn't thick and absorbs really quickly while immediately softening the skin. Some ingredients include hemp seed oil, squalane, and adaptogens to hydrate, calm, and feed tired skin. It has a light pleasant barely scent that makes this an easy oil to reach for when my face looks thirsty.

Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner, 0.34 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $2.75 (Buy the full size for $34.00)

First of all- what a fun way to package a small sampling of toner. This is like a much larger version of trial perfume with a pump. The mist isn't as fine as I'd like, but the directions do say to spray it onto a cotton round and then swipe it over your face so it gets it done. While I admittedly don't always notice some change in my skin with toners, I love the ritual and what they offer with little effort. This one has antioxidant coenzyme Q10 and hyaluronic acid which we know to be great for skin so if a little swipey swipe is all I need to pack more good stuff into my skin, I'm game. It's also alcohol-free which is a must.

Primera Clean Berry Lip Mask, 0.08 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $2.71 (Buy the full size for $20.00)

I think you all know at this point how much I love my lip products. Lip masks are a big part of that love and so I was delighted to see this one in the collection. I'm not at all familiar with Primera which makes it even more exciting to try. I'll also mention that I love getting small sample sizes of lip masks because so little is needed for each application that it kinda lasts a while and you can get a really good idea of how it works before taking the plunge on a larger size. I dip the tip of my pointy nail into this tiny tub to retrieve a small amount and spread across my lips before bed (or even in the morning while I'm doing my skincare and makeup routine. This lip mask has a nice viscosity that is not sticky but leaves a nice moisturizing layer of product on my pout. The clean berry scent is also pretty delicate so it doesn't seem like a gimmicky product. When I wake in the morning after sleeping in this, I really do love the way my lips look and feel which is plump and soft.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, 0.84 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $6.72 (Buy the mini size for $20.00)

Bum Bum cream is pretty much an old friend at this point. If you haven't tried it, I strongly suggest that you do. The scent is intoxicating, to say the least, and it really makes my skin soft. My friend Ash swears by it and insists that it helps lessen her cellulite. I usually just use this as hand cream or on my legs after shaving, but I should probably start using it on my thighs and... bum bum. Plus- how cute is this chubby little tub?

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, 0.34 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $6.40 (Buy the full size for $32.00)

Can you believe that I've never tried any Supergoop! products? It sounds wild since it's everywhere when I walk into a Sephora and it just seems like a popular brand. I wasn't expecting much from this "unseen sunscreen" (cool name), but omgosh was I impressed! The consistency of this is just... dreamy. It is such a light soft gel/cream that turns to a silky powder once you put it on (and is totally invisible). My word, I am just so into this. My face felt soft and lovely instead of sticky or icky like many sunscreens can do.

Volition Beauty Snow Mushroom Water Serum, 0.17 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $10.54 (Buy the full size for $62.00)

When I first read the words "snow mushroom" I immediately thought that this serum sounded fancy and wonderful. It just paints a nice picture in my mind for some reason. Snow mushrooms can apparently hold nearly 500 times their weight in water which is what makes them a great ingredient for delivering moisture. This cloudy serum delivers on the luxury side in my opinion and brings an immediate glow to dry skin. It is pretty much odorless so it's a good choice for someone who is sensitive to fragrance.

Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask, 0.5 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $12.00 (Buy the full size for $48.00)

I've been dying to try pretty much anything from Youth To The People for a while now so I was very excited about this overnight mask. The pale yellow cream contains maqui, vitamin C, and the ever-popular squalane and hyaluronic acid to boost moisture while I snooze away. I coated my face in a light layer before heading to bed and in the morning my skin felt renewed and super soft. I'll definitely be turning to this one well into the winter months ahead.

The Verdict: This has to be one of my favorite Sephora Favorites to date! I think this is an amazing gift for skincare nerds like me who want a nice trial size of the most popular brands and products. As much skincare as I've tried in my review career- 11/12 of these were still new to me! Some brands were familiar but it goes to show how much is constantly coming out and becoming cult faves. It's hard to choose faves here but the products from youth to the people, herbivore, supergoop!, and primera all really impressed me. $40 is a little pricy, but I think the value is here for those who have room on their shelves to dive into some new stuff! While they state that this has a $120 value, the estimates I calculated based on full-size prices led me to only $100.03 which is still a pretty good deal.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you order today? Yes, this kit is still available!

Value Breakdown: At $45.95 ($40 + $5.95 shipping) for this kit, here's what you're paying per item:

Have several of the products, so I know this is an extremely well-curated sample box of some of the best, reliable products that produce results. This is a definite buy if one is not familiar with some of the products!

As always a great review Marne! I love your turn of phrase:
a nice moisturizing layer of product on my pout

That is my favorite thing about a lip mask, and I can thank you for convincing me to even try one!

Seeing this review made me add this to my sephora cart. I want to try everything in this (minus the Bum Bum cream which has been everywhere lately).

Dangit! Somehow I forgot to even mention how good the box is! So fun and super reusable! I like to use Sephora Fave boxes in my desk drawer at work for KonMari-ing makeup and pens.

Anna

Nice set but I’m kind of over all these sets. I get so much stuff in my subscription boxes, for $30 and under, including full sizes, that I really cannot justify buying anything else unless it’s something I absolutely need and ran out of

Ugh,Marne. Why did this review have to be so good? Now I have to buy it. 🙂

Great review! I’d really like this one! Any idea if that lip mask is gluten-free?

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Hmmm- I couldn’t find anything definitive about that concern. It does contain Rice Bran Wax which seems to be gluten-free but I’m not totally sure. You can check out the full list of ingredients on Sephora’s or Primera’s websites. 🙂

Thank you. I’m GF but only worry about it in lip products (because you end up eating them!) it would be so helpful if reviews had this info.
