Quirky Crate October 2019 Review

Quirky Crate samples one item from a featured artist or brand each month. This month’s special find comes from Band of Weirdos, founded by Jacie Anderson-Coovert. This info card gives you a little background info on their life and their work as well as some social media info.

On the flipside, Quirky Crate includes an itemized list of each product and its value. This month's theme is "Happy Halloween!"

Time to get quirky, spooky-style!! Halloween is my very favorite holiday to decorate for and celebrate (give me all the treats!), so I am very excited about this box!!

Spooky Cat Socks - Listed Value $9

Right off the bat, I am drawn in by these hissy black cats. Nothing is more Halloweeny than finding a black cat in your path, and they just happen to be my favorite variety. They have a yellow background with purple, green and orange zigzags and a black heel, toe, and trim add to the festive drama. But what you weren't expecting if you arrow over to the second picture, is a very scary photo of my 9-month pregnant & swollen feet modeling the pair. Boo!

Colorful Cat Scarf - Retail Value $12

Silky scarves are ones I don't typically reach for, but this one is too cute to pass up. They are adorable, yet there is something very chilling about their glowing eyes that makes this perfect for this time of year. This scarf measures almost 28"x28", and I can't wait to get some use out of it!

Pumpkin Purse - Listed Value $30

I am 100% obsessed with this faux leather pumpkin purse! Everything from its cutesy smile to its beady little eyes makes me so happy. I am happy to report that I can also fit my iPhone in this one, which is imperative in a purse for me. Even though I would love to carry this little guy around with me, I am also tempted to add him to my Halloween decor, too, so I can enjoy him while I am at home. Decisions, decisions!

Your Future Looks Bright Enamel Pin - Listed Value $10

Much like many of you Quirky kids out there, I am very interested in palm readings and other mystics, so this pin really speaks to me. It is a little less bright and flashy than their other pins, but that just makes the gold trim and subtle red and yellow details pop even more. I like the positive vibes I am getting off this piece, too!

Band of Weirdos "Oh Spell No" Patch - Retail Value $8

October's spotlighted brand Band of Weirdos supplied this iron-on patch. They have a really awesome website filled with unique accessories and clothing that touch on some of my favorite references (like Spice Girls lyrics) and sassy quotes ("My Body, My Bidness"). The witchy patch they made for Quirky Crate this month is perfect for this Halloween themed box, and I wouldn't mind seeing this brand featured again in the future.

Gummy Bear Necklace - Listed Value $15

Gotta include a treat aspect into a Halloween box! Although this necklace comes off as childish, I can't resist it. I am going to wear it out. The rainbow bears are remarkably cute and vibrant, and I am so weak for sweets, it makes me want to run to the store for some fresh gummy bears! The chain that came on this necklace is longer than I usually like, but for this type of necklace, I think it works really well.

Spider Byte Cord Controller - Listed Value $6.50 (found here for $4.55)

Fred is one of my very favorite brands; I have a vast collection of their cute, ironic items, especially their kitchenwares. Their products are so well made and really hold up, this spider included! It has a rubberized finish, and the back of it opens up so that you can easily wind excess wiring securely. Plus, how cute is this spider? Some people may disagree (like Ryan who cringed when he saw this), but I am very pro-spider!

The Verdict: Quirky Crate nailed this Halloween-themed box! I love all of the spooky surprises included, and I can't wait to put everything into use. The total value of this box adds up to $90.50, more than double the $36.95 + $6.50 shipping subscription cost. I always feel Quirky Crate is worth its cost because the curation and unboxing experience is a blast, and you can always find some awesome flair to display your quirkiness.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up for a subscription, you will receive the November box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $36.95 + $6.50 shipping, which means that each of the 7 items in the box has an average cost of $6.21.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

If I could buy this one box, I would do so in a heartbeat! Love all of it, especially the cat items and the spider. I’m very pro-spider! Love them. We have all kinds of spiders on our farm. Wish I could show you some of my spider photos. Happy Halloween!

I’ve seen a few yellow, orange and black spiders recently, but we don’t have too much of a variety around me. Happy, happy Halloween, Alice!!
