Twenty Yawns by Jane Smiley - Retail Value $17.99 (found on Amazon for $11.99)

This book begins with a family playing on the beach and spending time outside, and ends with reflection and yawning and falling asleep. It's a good bedtime book! The rhythm and content definitely lend to having you and your kid yawning by the end, too. Another really great thing about this book is that it features a blended family: the little girl has a black mom and white dad. This doesn't change the story at all, but I know it's important to see diverse families in children's books!

Ninita's Big World: The True Story of a Deaf Pygmy Marmoset by Sarah Glenn Marsh - Retail Value $17.99 (found on Amazon for $11.42)

When I saw this book I picked it right away! It's just adorable. It's about a tiny little pygmy marmoset - the smallest primate. Ninita is a real pygmy marmoset that lives at a wildlife reservation in Florida and the book is about her daily life and different observations. The age level is just right in this book, and I love that my son learns about an exotic animal and gets to think about what it must be like to be that little. It's quite a fun read.

The Verdict: My kids and I have enjoyed Amazon Prime Books Kids so much! I chose the 3-5-year-old option for my 4-year-old. I love the books we got this month and we've enjoyed reading them every night. I really appreciate that I get an email before it ships so I can swap out and select which two books to get each time, and I trust Amazon's customer service if I have any issues (which I have in the past, and it's been easy to correct it). This really helps to make sure we get books we'll like, and having new books to read has helped bedtime go more smoothly. For $19.99 a month plus free Prime shipping, we received two books with a total value of $35.98 (less with sale prices). My sons and I are really happy with this month's book picks and they've been fun to read before bed!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? I'm not sure of exactly when Amazon swaps out their selection choices for the month, but if you sign up today you should get the September selections.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $19.99 which means you are paying about $9.99 for each book.
