Norlii Review - October 2019

Norlii
5 overall rating
3 Ratings | 2 Reviews

Norlii is a bi-monthly home subscription box filled with Scandinavian home decor and accessories. I always marvel at the great curation of the best from minimal brands like Normann Copenhagen and others. There's always a great balance of form and function in this $69.95 (+ shipping) subscription.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Norlii Scandinavian Home & Lifestyle Box October 2019 Review

This month's box from Norlii has a "hygge" hotel theme to make your home feel cozy and hospitable. The featured company is Danish-owned Nordal although the items are giving me more of a Turkish feel. The included info sheet sets the scene as gives us an overview of the items inside.

Nordal Striped Throw in Duck Egg Blue - Listed Value $80.00

The first item is a beautiful blue striped throw and pretty much makes the cost of the box worth it to me. It's lightweight, measures 51 x 59 inches, and is made of 77% cotton and 23% linen so it's breathable and soft as well. The top has the natural and blue stripes while the underside is a plain natural color and it has tiny frayed fringe on all four sides. I haven't decided whether this will be laid across my bed as an accent or on my couch as a throw. I love the soft colors of this and the quality seems fantastic.

Marne holding up Nordal Throw

Here it is being held up by yours truly. It may not have a heavy weight to it, but it's quite large and will be great for upcoming fall evenings.

Nordal Gold Patterned Rocks Glass - Listed Value $18.00

I have a thing for beautiful drinking glasses and this one fits the bill. Although I am a single gal, I do wish this would've come with a mate so I didn't have to drink in style alone. The pattern on this has a very vintage, stately vibe to it with the delicate silver ovals fused to one another with golden dots and gold band around the rim. As suggested in the info sheet, I could easily use this as my bedside water glass which is a great idea, or even in the bathroom to rinse after brushing my teeth. I could also see this becoming a gorgeous vessel for a small plant as well.

Nordal Brass Gilded Iron Lantern - Listed Value $17.00

Speaking of those crisp fall evenings, this brass and glass lantern will make a great addition to my porch to add a touch of atmospheric glow. It has a lovely almost floral design on the front which is also a hinged door to place a candle inside. The top has room for smoke to escape as well as a handle for carrying when not in use or hanging (although I'd probably use a fake candle in that sense).

In addition to the three items, Norlii has included two small treats as gifts:

Konnerup & Co Toffee and Sea Salt Chocolate, 6g

Oh wow- this is one of the creamiest little chocolate squares I've ever had! Too bad it lastest but a moment. YUM.

Emeyu Nordic Reflection Tea Bag

I may prefer coffee most mornings, but colder weather has me wanting hot tea throughout the day as well. This single tea bag is made with muslin and is filled with organic Rwandan black tea with quince, orange peel, strawberry pieces, and rose petals. This fantastic aroma and taste is a great pairing to the sweet chocolate treat, indeed.

Verdict: This month's Norlii box was giving me Turkish vibes moreso than Nordic ones, but since I've never been to either place, I can't say for sure what to expect. Either way, I really loved the throw and the rest of the items seem like nice accents for my home. I wasn't able to find solid retail prices on US sites, so I took the listed retail as truth. With that, this box has a total retail value of $115 for the three featured items, with a couple of treats added in.

This box was recently offered again as a single purchase item. I am using the single glass on my nightstand as a caddy for my reading glasses, nail file, and cuticle oil brush pen and it’s perfect!

I LOVE that blanket

I’m half Norwegian and half Turkish, so your verdict of having Turkish vibes on this Scandinavian box really spoke to me haha! I think this is a very nice box, but I do agree it should have had 2 glasses.

OMGosh, how perfect! 😀

I agree about the glass, it would have been much nicer to receive a pair. It says “coupon” on the title, but not mentioned. I was looking for a light weight summer blanket for my son’s bedroom and this fits the bill, but I would love to use a coupon code.

Thanks for pointing that out, Kay! We’ve updated the review. The code has been added and is OCT20MSA to get 20% off of the October box (while supplies last). Hope you grab one!

Hi Marne, thank you for updating with 20% off code! One more question. Would you please compare this throw with Turkish towel, do you think the throw would be warmer used as a blanket? Thank you so much!

Connie

I have been reading your reviews and watching this box for a while now. If there had been 2 glasses I may have finally signed up. So far the value to cost has not been enough of a difference for me to subscribe. It feels that the subscriber experience is not the top priority as a second glass would not have cost that much more and would have made all the difference in this box.

So- you can actually purchase a second glass this month as well as a pillow to match the throw, but it is an added cost. Subscribers will receive a link to their webstore to do so.

Diane

So intrigued by this box based on the review. Is there a coupon for signing up?

So sorry about that, Diane! Our mistake. The code has been added and is OCT20MSA to get 20% off of the October box (while supplies last).
